The beach is calling. Here's your chance to get ready. The winter thread fizzled out. But I know a few of you haven't thrown in the towel yet. I've made some progress and I'm ready to build on what we started. My knee is better and I can start working my legs more. Someone once told me that the legs are the key to losing fat. Build those muscles up and they have to eat.

And I'm taking before pictures this time. Naaked ones :) And no, I'm not sharing. Swapping maybe, but not sharing with the world.

ok...im in but you ppl have to beat my as if i start making excuses and stuff. and if i took before pics i would scare the shit outta ya all so maybe some after ones.

One problem with this scenario... we all know you're a masochistic slave, KC - therefore, you'll be "making excuses and stuff" just so you can get your ass beat!

Shut your pie hole and give us 20 sit ups. :)

I just got home from dance class. My abs and obliques hurt; my thighs are burning. Life is good.

Yeah, we can help you but you have to develop a plan or schedule in order for us to hold you accountable. Red can give you some ideas if you plan on working out at home.

I got the dreaded 25th highschool reunion call. I'm in! What are the rules.

If I do pilates and yoga does it count.

Can I join in? I got a 3 month gift certificate for Curves and only went twice, joined weight watchers but never went so I need motivation. :rose:

I had to return the Karen Voight DVD to the library (good stuff, btw) so today I found myself working out to an old Jane Fonda step box video. It was good for a laugh (ugh, did I really dress like that???), but I think it's time to invest in something current if I'm really going to commit to getting in shape.

Ehhh, I wasn't going to say anything but I sort of forgot about eating right - last week especially (*shrug* I was on vacation). I'm back on track now though.

What do you think of Curves? My mom has a membership and gave me a free visit. The one near us doesn't have daycare though, so I haven't been.

Have you gained since your pic thread? Cause I thought you looked fine in them.

OK, here's where I get nerdy.

I weigh 187 pounds and I am going to estimate my body fat at about 18%. I can get the exact number at my gym later, I suspect it might be higher because I have been a Lit potato recently, but I'll be optimistic for now.

Using the fat free mass formula for calculating my RMR (resting metabolic rate), I convert my fat free mass (187-18%= 153) to KG (69kg) and multiply that number by about 31 to get my RMR of about 2139

The exact figure is 2170 according to this online calculator. I may have to make adjustments to my diet once I get an exact figure on my body fat %, I don't fuck around with this stuff.

In any case I need to eat about as much protein in grams as I want lean body mass in lbs, so in my case I'm going to try and eat 200grams of protein per day. This, combined with resistance training should hopefully increase my muscle mass as my body tears down my fat for fuel.

Each gram of protein has 4 calories so now I'm eating at least 800 calories a day.

A pound of fat is about 3500 calories stored, and it is proven to be unsafe to lose more than two pounds in a week (although I have done it in the past). Besides, if you shock your metabolism with too high a deficit it will slow down to protect itself from a long winter (occassional cheat days can keep this effect at bay as well).

Therefore, in order to put myself at a 7000 per week calorie deficit I need to eat about 2000 calories a day (FDA recommended actually), maybe a little less to get quicker results.

I'm estimating that I will be burning about 800 calories a day through my physical activities, and because I smoke marijuana, which increases your metabolism.

I will try to jog daily, and weight train 4 times a week. I will have a back/biceps day, a chest/triceps day, an abs/shoulders day and a quads/hamstrings/calves day.

I will report more details as they are available to me.

I haven't been this serious about it in a while, but I got nothing better to do, might as well get sexy.

Count me in

(though my work out routine has not much changed from previous thread...)

current weight: 125
size 4/5

planned weight: 118-120

Not alot of weight loss needed..basic toning and aerobics a requirement for sure.

If I smoked enough weed to raise my metabolism, I'd be driving right by the gym and heading for Baskin Robbins or Jack in the Box.

You smoke shit?

*sound of preconception flying out window*

I'm in .. just rejoined Weight Watchers last week actually. They have a great new website, plus I'm doing it with a girl at work which will help me stick to it. My WI (weigh-in) day is Monday's and while I have another message board I also report my progress on, I'll be coming here too.
Will start exercise again next week, working up to it ... after a bad car accident and a 3 week bought with pnuemo-bronchitis I need to work into it.
Good luck to all.
