The 2025 750 Word Story Challenge Support Thread

These things are addictive, aren't they! I find that they can be a core for a bigger story too.
I also find that I don't worry as much about what people think of them, which is nice. "Better Than Porn," in particular, I just wrote as a goof. If people think it's dumb, no big deal, whereas I take it a little harder on stories that took a little more blood and sweat.

That was a fun challenge. Usually my short pieces run 15-20k words, and I insisted on including at least one sub plot even if I only had 5% of my usual space to do it.

‘Together At Last, Willing to Share‘ was just submitted. I look forward to starting in reading others now.

While I'm finishing up my next big story (I thought the first part was complete, but I figured the readers deserved some sex after all the melodramatics in it...and Galatea's Masters deserved it for putting up with her), I put together another 750 Word Challenge. This one is my first foray into the Reviews/Essays category, which should guarantee as many as six readers. It's an experiment: my character is interviewing me (Soma Interviews Soma in 750 Words). I'm not worried about ratings: it's more an experiment for me, though, if it does decently, I've left room for additional interviews in the future. I'll reply to this post when it drops.

I like it! I've only wandered off into Reviews/Essays once and it was a 3000 word shit-fit over veteran suicide and the VA's part in it. Needless to say I turned off voting

Anybody else have their story approved extra fast? I’m attributing it to the 750 words, since even ‘official’ contests haven’t approved stuff for me in under 48 hours often and this time it was well under 18 hours.
🙄 As I type that last phrase, I picture a rudimentary AI seeing ‘under 18’ and completely missing the context.

I put one in last night and it's showing that it will be published tomorrow. That's a new record for me.

Got a couple 750 word stories up this morning.

In the Anal category, I've got an ultra short story titled "Plain Jane," about an unspectacular girl with a spectacular fantasy. And in the Group Sex category, I've got one titled "Better Than Porn," in which a man somehow summons two women while masturbating.

I've got a couple more scheduled for tomorrow, another one submitted, and maybe more in the works!
A few more this morning.

First up: "The Boogeyman," a good ol' fashioned clash of superheroes. For anyone who grew up on comic books, this is a riff on the classic "Marvel Misunderstanding."

Next up is "We Dig Your Vibe." In this story, a jilted college girl gets picked up by an older married couple and goes home with them. What she gets isn't quite what she expects.

And finally, we have "Eva's Tale," the story of a trans woman's first post-op sexual experience. The other two are larks, but this one I particularly enjoyed writing. I've known a few Evas in my day.

It was published in record time. Comments and criticisms are welcome. Soma Interviews Soma

Okaaay! Problems overcome, 'submit' icon hit.

Good luck to all.

Edit: it goes up on the 18th.
Edited edit: Maybe not. Egregious typo in the first line, ow well!

Ya'll just gotta read the latest comment I got on my 750 word "An Enjoyable Thank you":

Wow, a so-called "loving" wife who only wants to be intimate with her husband because he wasted 12 hours of his life on the useless relative in his life (including hers). The fact that he's brainless enough to do this just because she's "pretty" makes it the worst non-cheating story I ever read on LW. Hell, I'm half convinced she's either already cheating or soon will be.

I just sent in my #3 for this event. I might try to sneak in one more before the final gun

They get so genuinely angry at imaginary women... Feels dangerous, tbh 😕
The part that really tickled me is this: "The fact that he's brainless enough to do this just because she's "pretty" makes it the worst non-cheating story I ever read on LW."

He doesn't seem to understand that all it is, is a term of endearment on the character's part. I'll never understand those who can't understand such things in a story.

And since the main character spent the morning helping his mother-in-law this: ...he wasted 12 hours of his life on the useless relative in his life... tells me volumes on the character of the commenter. There was a time years ago I would get all butthurt about this comment. Now, it's entertaining to me and I feel sorry for the commenter and the rotten life that made them so bitter.

My third installment goes live 02/18
750-13 Business Meeting is part of EmilyMiller's Photo subchallenge using the Business Meeting photo (Ok, so I suck at titles)

So finally I have completed my story. It's 8 chapters long, with each chapter exactly 750 words.
It's a non-erotic emotional journey of a character with each chapter representing a significant event or a regret in his life.

@Duleigh - I wonder if I can still submit under 750 word projects tag?
I allowed the story to grow naturally at 9k+ words length. It's finally submitted under non-erotic Learning to stand still.

I couldn’t resist commenting on his comment, but what I really should have said was “you should put a screenshot of your comment in your Tinder profile…” LW can be so revealing, in a depressing way.
