The 2023 Geek Pride Story Event: Official Support Page

Interesting. Never tried this category before. There are definitely possibilities.

"Lover in a Labcoat".... "Atomic Assfucking".... "The Period Table"... "Relativity Romp"... "Calculator Climax"... "Banging Binaries"... "Math and Muff"... "Differential Dicking"... "Fucking for Fractals"... "Suck my Soldering Iron"...

Yeah, I may give it a whirl, if I get the opportunity to write something. :)

Well, the Wrestling story isn't working so far. The leads don't have chemistry and it's not really gelling overall. I'm thinking about starting over with something new, but I'm not sure what yet.

Lets see,

Retired programmer, ergo - geek, check.
Porn writer, check.

Hmm...
How much time do we have?

I’m up to 8K words and it’s not even April, let alone May. This could be Fishing Trip length.

Well, I've got about 9,000 words but I'm not going to add another 9,000 just because I would have the time to do. These things have a natural end point I think. But everybody has a different way of doing things.

P.S.I have four pages of notes but I can see that a lot of that would be unnecessary geek detail. :geek:

And now that I have my April Fools Day story in, another installment of Jeong coming up, and then finish off my Geek Day story.....

3000 words so far, trying not to make it an epic but I seem incapable of writing stories that aren't around 15k words.

Have managed to reference the Gelatinous Octohedron and Scrabble dictionaries as well as the board game being played.

17,000 - but I suspect worth 1,000 of yours or less.

I suspect it going to be 25k.

1700 words so far toward Stacy's visit to Comic-Con. She hasn't even started her costume yet. One minor and two major sex scenes are planned, one will be my first purely lesbian scene. Just finished my latest, so this one is #1 on the docket.

I’ve so far had two lesbian scenes. One tentacle scene (arguably two). One MF BDSM scene. And one MF vanilla.

That’s actually a low hit ratio for me in 17k words.

I need to up my game 😬.

I look forward to it. I'll end today at 2800 words and I think this will end up somewhere near 10-12K when I'm done. Stacy will be an ongoing character, I think, and she's just now starting to stretch her wings, post-divorce.

I suspect mine will be just short of that (10,000 words now), the longest standalone story I've ever done. I still have to leave out a lot of unnecessary details.

Yeah, I've already considered a couple of sequels. I'm not giving away anything, however.

Found a new story idea that I'm liking much more. A college campus romance between a gamer nerd and a book nerd who both seek refuge from awful roommates in their dorm's all-but-abandoned basement TV lounge. They start out barely tolerating each other's presence, but over time that mellows out and nice things start happening to make up for their roommate drama.

Good news is I've just finished a story that's only 7800 words. Bad news is it wasn't this one. I'll play with the geek one a while and see how it pans out. I keep getting distracted by research and dialogue for my Crime & Punishment event story...

If I keep adding more geeky game references and snark, no-one will notice if I don't get round to the sex or plot, right?

Sounds kinda like the story of my life...

When I wrote my first Geek Pride story, the event description was Sci-Fi/Fantasy stories for geeks. Reading the thread for this year, it sounds like the event has evolved into any-category erotic stories about geeks. Is that accurate? Or is the bulk of the discussion skewing my perception? I'm wondering if the Sword & Sandal fantasy story I'm working on with Blind_Justice is going to be a good fit for the event.

This is a good idea. Most geeks can find at least something they can agree on.

It used to be FOR. Now you can do either FOR or ABOUT.

Do the events attract as much attention as the contests? Or is it roughly similar?

[I realize that question probably won't have an objective answer, I'm just looking for personal anecdotes.]

My GPD stories usually end up with three to ten times the eyeballs than my regular stuff. On average, I have up to 3k views, my most read GPD tale "Express Delivery" has a whopping 58k while last year's "Red Tsonia" only pulled in about 7k. But that's okay, it was a very niche story in an already less-read category. Writing in the style of Robert E. Howard probably didn't help either. Still, I'm extremely proud of that one. One of the most fun collabs I've had.
