Commentator Seth Abramson coined the phrase “the billionaire coup” to describe what we’ve seen in the mainstream media and Democratic Party elite over the past few weeks.

I originally thought the media was undermining Biden because the chaos of a Trump presidency would generate clicks which is good for the news biz, but Abramson pointed out that one of Biden’s reelection planks is raising taxes on the ultra-rich.

Multimillionaires like George Clooney are rich enough to insulate themselves from the effects of Project 2025. The same is true of the wealthy owners of the media.

They made the calculation that it would be cheaper to suffer through another 4 years of chaos under Trump, than pay more taxes under Biden.

That’s why they’ve been trying so desperately to get Biden out of the race, even though the Democratic voters love him and want him to stay.

The good thing is that the big media push seems to be running out of steam, and the only lasting effect of all the anti-Biden articles is a pissed-off Democratic base that’s more determined than ever to return the President to the Oval Office in November.

I believe there are SOME higher up corporate (media and otherwise) Democrats and leftist progressives who have their own reasons for wanting to take President Biden down, but hopefully enough average corporate media (etc) workers / voters, and average leftist progressive voters will join with the older moderate and progressive voters to foil Trump and the “Project 2025” republican fascists dreams of a new reich.

Is the New York Times a right wing website? They ran George Clooney’s editorial where he explains exactly why he’s calling for Biden to drop out. He thinks he can’t win. NYT followed with a piece saying about $90 million in large sum donations are frozen. It isn’t because these donors suddenly decided to become Republicans.

If BabyBoobs can hold more than one thought in their mind at a time, I will attempt to explain things to them:

a). Billionaires and Millionaires always hedge their bets / play all sides by donating to Democrats AND "republicans" AND "third parties". And since the legalization of dark money with "Citizens United", we really have no idea who Billionaires and millionaires are REALLY supporting. (See: Sam Bankman Fried who reported that he publicly donated to Democrats, but privately donated MORE money to "REPUBLICANS".

b) Many of the Billionaires and Millionaires in the entertainment industry who people traditionally think of as "liberal" may actually be closeted "conservatives" and only "play" being "liberal" due to their profession. (There are actually reports of this being true.)

c) Many of the Billionaires and Millionaires in the entertainment industry who people see as being "liberal" are part of MEDIA, and they get their paychecks from the corporate MEDIA machine:, so it isn’t hard to imagine them doing a cost benefit analysis and recognizing that an open convention: would generate money for their struggling industry,; would STILL possibly result in a Biden / Democratic win,; and, even if it resulted in a Trump / "republican" win, would STILL have an "upside" to their own interests, professionally and financially (Hell, they "might" even make a movie about it.)

d) I don’t even want to get into how Ukraine, the Israeli / Palestinian crisis, and China , etc, might be affecting how Billionaires and Millionaires are leveraging their support to force an open convention.

ALL of that ^ points to the plausibility of the theory.

To be honest ... I am bit happy living in Germany. Even our economy goes down at the moment, the German military is more or less not existent, a rightwing party is raising, the etat of the govenment is a major problem, the chancelor is a smurf-robot hybrid and the German football team lost the semi-final against Spain ...

I guess BabyBoobs needs things spelled out for them:

The timing could simply be down to the Billionsaires and the Millionaires waiting for President Biden to fuck up badly ONE TIME - which was inevitable when one considers President Biden’s age, his insane schedule,, and his penchant for gaffes THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE - and then pouncing, turning their vast networks of talking head hit men against him, while simultaneously pressuring vulnerable congressmen by threatening to withdraw their support. (See: The Disney heiress, etc, doing just that.)

The timing is actually quite damming imho, because it seems like the entire corporate media machine was primed and ready to attack the moment President Biden had that ONE bad DEBATE, while largely ignoring the MANY OUTRAGEOUS LIES that were told by Trump.

For those ^ reasons, and the other perfectly reasonable reasons cited in post #20, the theory of the Billionaire s and Millionaires taking down President Biden for monetary gain - both on the front end (an open primary viewership / ratings windfall) and on the back end (NO Biden tax increases, and, potentially, MORE tax cuts from Trump.) - is as likely as not.
