Thatcher is dead.

...

so coal was a dying industry? steel? welfare? housing? education?

indeed there does appear to be a delusional group of posters on here - they seem to be supporting thatcher, and in many cases I doubt they experienced the destruction she brought.

Delusional?

The Labour Government immediately before Mrs Thatcher closed more coal mines than she did.

The steel industry was still there when she left offfice.

She spent more on welfare, housing and education than the previous Labour Government.

But don't confuse the issue with facts.

There's areason she spent more on welfare, want to guess what it is?

This thread has taught me that the same large crowd of Brit's that would throw a Banana at a visiting black soccer player are also misogynistic dumb asses that would celebrate someones death.

oh, no, though sometimes they're the same people (some types, on both ends of the political spectrum, just like any excuse to be a hateful arsehole) but in a lot of cases they're the opposite. this week i have heard sweet, loving, kind, grey haired grannies in their 80's expressing that she was a bitch and they're not sorry she's gone at all.

Sweet grannies are perfectly capable of, and often likely, to be racists. As I just said in another thread; No one is more capable of hating a woman more than another woman.

You bitches are evil towards each other!

Watch what happens if Hillary is elected. A majority of woman will hate her within two years.

if they were the racist grannies i'd have mentioned that. the racist grannies are quite amusing really.

you're very naive if you believe that twice posted line. or blind.
i say that as someone who has some experience of being a woman, so i get to compare the ratios of who is doing the hating. hell hath no fury like a man whose ego feels insulted by your disinterest in his danglies.

Now that is misogynistic claptrap.

People's reaction towards Thatcher's death was not prompted by her gender, but by her actions. I suspect that Tony Blair will get a similar sort of reaction the day he kicks the bucket. He too will have earnt it.

Yeah, people hated Thatcher because she was a woman. He's even more stupid than his impotent old man.

regards thatcher's death,

look at the death parties. are the women out numbering the men?
the articles in the press. are the women out numbering the men?
the posts and threads on lit. are the women out numbering the men?

Bwhaaa!!!!!! Says the man that throws out the racist card more often than anyone short of Rory and the Pedo.

(Love how the idiot has yet to answer Ogg)

Wouldn't it be embarrassing if there were any photos of Thatcher with someone unsavoury, like Pinochet, or Jimmy Savile.

That just doesn't make any sense no matter how many times I read it....

There are photos of most politicians with 'someone unsavoury'. Unlike the USSR the West didn't use phototrickery to remove people from published pictures.

Then Photoshop arrived. :D

I've felt pretty ashamed of behaviour the last few days about this. I mean, I can't fully understand the hatred of her - she was out of office before I was born. I've just looked up the year; 1990 apparently, and in that case, 1990 is when people should have celebrated. For the last few years she has just been a sick old lady, and its disgusting that people will celebrate her death.

Personally, the main issue is her family. Regardless of questionable political decisions, I'm sure they loved her, and to hear about parties celebrating your wife/mother/grandmother's death must be horrible.

Respect the dead, but really, they're gone, they don't know whats going on. Its the people left behind that you need to think about, and it isn't fair on her family.

((And before anyone starts arguing about the people whose lives she ruined, well yeah, you can hate her, but lets face it, she hasn't done anything in the last twenty years, you can let it go now surely?))

Her family? I wonder how much compassion Mark has for the families of the people his arms deals help murder. Or the families of those murdered in the anti-democratic coups he helps fund. Do fuck off, her offspring are as evil and fucked up as she was.

There speaks the voice of reason!

Clearly all the world's evils can be laid at the door of Margaret Thatcher and her offspring.

Is Mark Thatcher an arms dealer? Has he been convicted for trying to organise a coup in Equatorial Guinea?

I'm not having a party to celebrate her death, but as I disliked the woman when she was alive, I cannot in all conscience mourn her passing.

I know that you are too young to remember her, but when she was in her prime and in power, she was capable of sneering vitriol that far exceeded the tone of anything I've seen here. Don't feel sorry for her in that respect because she shrugged off far worse when she was PM. She overrode anyone who disagreed with her, and if anyone in her own party suggested that she might be going too far in her policies they were scornfully called wet, to the point of the 'Wets' becoming a subset of the Conservative party. Eventually it was her inability to see that her policies were too extreme and her refusal to listen to anyone else's point of view that made even her own party turn in her and force her out of power in a humiliating manner.

Yes, by the end, she was a sick old lady who will be mourned by her family. But if you want to get a really true indication of life lived in communities that she destroyed, can I suggest you watch Brassed Off, in particular the speech that Pete Postlethwaite makes at the end. It is truly tragic and heartbreaking, but regrettably that's what actually happened.

Please, please let some ragheads crash a 747 into Trafalgar Square at 6pm Saturday. Wipe out the anarchist filth in one go. I bet there's no more than 100,000 in the country, but they make a lot of noise and I grudgingly admire how well the left are organised.

But it would be good to eradicate them in one go, like spraying bleach in a dustbin full of maggots.

It's in a play, so it must be true!

It's in a play, so it must be true!

Nobody is disputing she was a very cruel hard woman who could've moderated or delayed her policies. Its the hand wringing hysterical bile which was totally absent when she was booted out of office. The left love someone to hate. I wonder who's next. Maybe James Bond he's white, male, straight and patriotic. Might be a closet 'Jock' but only in the book.

That daft cow in the papers with her Soviet flag decided she hated Thatcher because she was told she wouldn't get a job in leaving school in 1984 because of said person when th economy was on the up by then especially in the south.

Most of this hysteria is generated mainly by anarchists, ex IRA men, Argies and failed Labour politicians and other 3rd rate celebrities who've managed to line their pockets very well in post Thatcher Britain just through spouting crap.
