We brag about our scores, number of views, positive comments, and so on, yet most of us are trying to be modest when talking about our abilities as a writer in order not to look pretentious or self-absorbed. Well, this thread is exactly about that!

In your opinion, what is the thing that puts you above the average writer in your preferred category? If you are feeling more confident, what puts you above most writers in your category? Do you write better plots? Are your characters better fleshed out and more genuine? Does your smut make readers harder and wetter than that of most other authors in the category?
Don't be shy, this is the place where you get to say your thoughts about your own ability in comparison to the "average" or even "good" author in a certain category. No jabs are allowed towards authors who make some bold claim! Well, maybe just a little ;) Also, no talking about other authors' abilities and being humble towards them. No, no and no! This is a pure memememe thread.
Come on, tell us why is your particular mom/son story better than the average one.

I'll start. My preferred category is SciFi&Fantasy (duh!) and what I believe I do better than the average or even good author in the category is the world-building and lore. I believe I am not bad in other departments as well, but my readers seem to think that I excel at being imaginative and at creating a fantasy world and its lore. I tend to agree with them.

Now, come on, fire away, this thread doesn't tolerate pussies! (I am of course not talking about the lovely organ that makes our lives a hundred times better :D:love::p)

Fuck it.

I think I'm pretty good at the Slow Burn.

My series The Jenna Arrangement is currently at Pt. 27.

It took 11 chapters to get Jenna completely naked.

Took 12 for her to finally go all the way with the Main Male Character, Tom.

Didn't get to the threesome with Tom, Jenna and her BFF Trish til Part 24.

Jenna, a budding exhibitionist, doesn't do her first flirtation with public nudity til part 21, then finally fully nude in front of an audience in part 25.

I'm slowly realizing I'm gonna wind the series down by part 30. And I think the grand finale will be her having sex with Tom and Trish at a swingers club while people watch.

The entire series has been mostly E/V themed, and I think the overall great reception to it has been my slow, realistic pacing of the characters and what they get up to.

I don't read in my own category, so I couldn't do any comparisons.

I'll give a serious answer: I'm good at taking a trope and putting a new spin on it. Over in LW, a lot of my stories are like that: Philanthropic (Indecent Proposal), No Place to Go (letter from the dead wife), After the Future is Gone (building back), Kayfabe (cuck/bull dynamics), etc. Not to say I can't write my own original stuff (I think In Health is pretty novel, as is Spoken in Anger), but polishing up old tropes is how I made my name initially.

But the truth is that what I really excel at is being a pedantic nerd. It's my calling.

Fine, you asked for it.

I outright own the brother sister category. How do I know this? Since 2019 I've released four. All were contest entries and all placed.

Why do I excel at them?
1-Its my personal kink so I think that translates into the stories because being I think the topic is hot it reflects in my work, I'm writing to myself as much as the audience.
2-Dialogue, I'm excellent at capturing the bickering and insults between siblings, but at the same time always have an instance where one sticks up for the other. A realistic portrayal of yeah, my brother's a dink, but only I can say that.
3-To tie into the back half of point two: Affection, I make it clear that despite the cracks and jokes they do care about one another, and that's probably the biggest key.
4-Build up/Conflict. I do these slow burn style, I don't do, "Wow, sis you have great tits? Yeah, bro? How about you come on over and..." I leave that for the stroke crowd.
5-The category itself is of course implausible as fuck in real life, so its a trick to come up with something the reader can buy into enough to say "Yeah, I could see it happening...again, within the realm of erotica as we always have to have a stretch to get where we're going.
6-The sex, I make the reader wait for it, and then I deliver. My sex scenes are long, vivid, detailed, contain the dialogue they want and I usually get all the lust out and finish with a touch of...
7-Romance, sibling romance is what they eat up, actually most of the category does in all pairings. I put that in my incest how to nine years ago and it still holds up.
8-guess everything prior can fall into this and its just knowing all the sweet spots and how to hit him.

I'll finish with this. Couple months back a long time friend here was busting me up that "Mister incest" didn't have a story anywhere near the top of the all time list. I'm like whatever, I could if I wanted it. I got the challenge and told them to watch as I put up a story that doesn't just hit the top list but goes full scorched Earth. This was a no doubter, drop the mic, hold the beer, kiss my ass.

The Model Sister was published 6/24 placed third in the Nude Day Contest...current numbers 4.87 on 3935 votes 167 comments 796 favs and for a brief time #1 on the all time list, slipped to second, but with that vote total it will linger in the top 5 or 10 for a long time.

Now I'm going to do what I'm not supposed to here and tip my hat to Paco Fear who when he was here was the best sibcest author I've read and helped me out with my first ever story here(femdom as crazy as that is, but I reached out to him and he was cool enough to take me under his wing.)

I hope I'm doing him proud. View attachment 2261409
That was the over-the-top non-pussiness we want and cherish here. Let's see if anyone can beat you there.

I took more than a few pages from your book for my Daddy / Daughter incest tale, Caring For Carrie.

In particular, plausibility factor in trying to make what is essentially an utter fantasy believable.

I made them actual people instead of porn caricatures.

While they don't end up Together Forever, both realizing they must move on in the end, I made it far more about love than simply about lust.

And I drew the sexual tension out over three chapters.

The first chapter is still my most viewed / most rated / most favorited story.

Nice, glad it helped.

Alright. Against my better judgement, I'll bite. And not even with a joke. I hope you appreciate the sacrifices I'm making here, @AwkwardlySet.

What I'm really good at is building the sexual tension, emotions, vulnerability, and submission in a D/s fem-sub setting. It's my kink, so there we go. It's so much my kink I don't even see it as a kink. I've written this from both male and female POVs, straight, bi and lesbian. There's about 300k words across 27 stories on my profile, and most of those have this aspect to a greater or lesser extent. Excluding the non-erotic ones... obviously.

What else am I good at.... using too many commas when I write, then having to spend hours editing them back out again. Writing sex that turns me on, and some folk have been kind enough to tell me it does it for them too. Making comments on the AH that result in my stuff being 1-bombed. Cooking.

I'm not very good at sleeping. Dunno why... lack of practice, perhaps.

I like to think I excel at unexpected but welcome adult fanfics that please my audience with their shocking realism and appeal to characters’ dynamics and emotions. I have a few unique subjects and I respect the majority of their fans as well as the characters themselves. My most acclaimed stories are still my earliest works, but I always have the potential to keep doing better and accomplish further success. I also excel at self-editing and formatting out erroneous info when necessary.

Oh, I forgot to mention-Altissimus post reminded me- of my 4 brother sister wins, two were the brother's POV and two were the sister's.

So I can pull off both sides equally.

I excel at using too many australianisms and losing my readers to google search frustration. My characters also have depth and unique voices rather than mine. I'd like to be better at writing raw sex though, i err on the side of realism. And i would like to be able to write an incest story without icking myself out.

So, i guess i kind of humble bragged about building characters and giving them their own voices and set myself some challenges.
