I'm not sure what I'm doing for Thanksgiving yet. Probably going to spend it with the folks and fiance, along with my brother, his wife, their kids. I adore those kids; I'm very thankful for my nieces and nephew. I don't have any babies of my own, so I get to spoil them rotten instead.
I'm thankful for life. Even at its worst, it's better than the alternatives.
I'm thankful for the people in my life. Even the stupid bastards I want to throttle, because they present endless challenges through which I can learn and grow (and throttle).
I'm thankful for the age we live in, for the technology that allows nigh instantaneous, global communication. And I'm thankful for the space program that made it possible. *ducks real fast*
I'm thankful for the people making advances in understanding fibromyalgia; the more they learn, the better chance there is for a cure. I know, selfish gratitude, but I can't help it.
I'm thankful for the volunteers who give their time and energy to make their communities better places to live.
I'm thankful for Beethoven's Ode to Joy. When I listen to it, and I realize that Beethoven composed this wonderful piece during one of the lowest points of his life, it reminds me that the greatest beauty can come even in the darkest times. Wow, that sounded corny even to me - but I still think it's true.
And last, but certainly not least, I'm thankful to have found Lit. Such an interesting mix of people, so many intelligent, cool folks here. Euclid say that. I'm still giggling over that.
Have a happy holiday, everyone.
