Thanksgiving Dinner

Speaking from experience?

Nope, I've done a few turkeys, couple chickens and a couple prime ribs with no incident other than eating too much of it.

Obviously you did not have the same success. Hence the comment.

homemade cookies, today

Almond shortbread/ natural (brown) sugar

Not finished shopping. Holiday basics purchased.

Christmas foods on the market shelves, but fresh veggies are lacking.

Not vibrant, not applealing.

infiltrating the neighborhood and fitting in with the natives is one thing, but for fucks sake have some shred of dignity.
not guilty--that one's on his mum. it does taste good, though (maybe my maternal french heritage?)

all those other menus (apart from the ramen, tbf) sound great. happy cookings, peeps

We had first thanksgiving today and I made an Organic Turkey, but I didn't care for it.

We're going to my granny's. I'm just gonna show up and eat. Don't know what she's making, just know I'm gonna have a shitton of leftovers. I know she has a turkey and a ham, which is pretty common for us. But I don't like ham so I don't care.

Simple this year. I spatchcock the bird and roast. I'm making browned butter mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing with sage venison sausage, roasted butternut squash or sweet potatoes, and salad.

Cornbread and honeybutter.

Yum!

It's very rich but it's a recipe that's been in my family for decades - ever since I can remember. Just have to remember to make the crust Wednesday night. :D

Sounds fun! Take pics.

Package of Ramen soup.

Seeing how it's a special holiday I'll mix it up and go with the shrimp flavor.

You could go real wild and go with spicy shrimp flavor. I highly recommend.

I’ll be having seitan and dressing... oh, and jelly cranberry sauce in the shape of the can it came in (because any other way is blasphemous).

Spicy might be too daring for my otherwise bland palate and personality

It’s hard for me to believe this is true... 🧐
I'm probably most certainly lying out of laziness of having to write out the menue.

But then I might not be.

You have a standing invitation to find out for yourself.

I would do ramen in Ramen Alley in Sapporo. But, not planning to be in Japan.
Two years ago, I was on the plane to Kathmandu on Thanksgiving.

It seems everyone whines about something.

Health care/insurance costs are unarguably one of the most significant issues facing the entire US today. What people eat and how much they eat have direct impacts on both their individual health and the amounts others are FORCED to collectively pay for their health care under the socialist system America already has, and the even more socialist system coming. Going simply by daily individual carbohydrate and sugar consumption, Americans (generally speaking) are unarguably unhealthy, gluttonous pigs, and their exploding rate of diabetes is proof of that.

It's funny reading those who excitedly exalt the unhealthy food they consume while also championing others be FORCED to pay for the direct costs their intentional unhealthy behavior begets. But, perhaps the saddest aspect of it is adults happily passing on the unarguably unhealthy eating habits they've been brainwashed into unto to their children, literally sentencing them to even more anguishing health failure and premature death.

There's not a more thankful message one can spread among their loved ones at family gettogethers than to only serve them foods which don't start screwing up their bodies' normal functions as soon as they swallow.

I'll have a go.

On Thursday I will have Oreos and Pringles. And Hershey's caramel sauce. Syrup. Hershey's caramel syrup. Bless your heart, sweet home Alabama, Amen.

Oh, noes!

Are you sure you don't need a trip to Cracker Barrel for a chicken fried steak and mashed taters for dessert?

Whatever is open is what will be for dinner. I'll be in NYC so there's certainly something open. Even if it's a food truck or something. I told my daughter maybe lunch at the Plaza if they're open.
Thanksgiving is a bullshit holiday anyway. Nobody is giving thanks or at least not in a manner that they genuinely mean it. They're stuffing their faces with bread and pie and then bitching about how much weight they gained over the winter. New flash, you were fat before the holidays. You just got fatter is all.
So yeah, no turkey cuz it sucks. Maybe a roast beef sandwich from a deli. I like those. Sans bread tho cuz carbs are the devil.
