What's for dinner this coming Thursday?

I'll be smoking/grilling a spatchcocked turkey for the main meal. For breakfast, I will be cooking up Kowalski's kielbasa and paleo blueberry pancakes. There will be wild lingonberry sauce for the turkey and for turkey sandwiches on black Friday. Others get to choose the sides and dessert.

Roast beast - rib roast, smashed baby potatoes and green salad.

Edit, it was going to be green salad but because of yet another lettuce e coli recall, I may have to alter that.

Just stay away from romaine. I like the kale salad from Costco.

well the main meat's the ham i brined and already boiled/roasted with a sharp, dense, marmalade glaze.

there'll be sweet potatoes, green beans, broccoli, potato salad, stuffed eggs, a jelled cranberry 'salad', a cheeseball, black bottom pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin pie, french apple pie, and who know what else? this is because there are some things that are liked as traditional and other things guests want to bring. so it's a bit of a hotpotch but i reckon we won't have to cook anything new for weeks!:eek: my main contribution is the ham, sweet potatoes, cheesecake and pumpkin pie. his ma'am made the french apple pie (delicious and almost half gone already) and will do the potato salad and green beans.

come christmas, i'll be doing a more roasty/stuffing kind of meal.

That's a lot of cooking.
looks a lot, but guests are bringing the eggs, cheeseball, jelled cranberry salad and ??? it's not like there's a proper planning of the meal beyond HAM. the rest is sort of coming together organically.:rolleyes:

pretty sure there'll be some regular salad stuff in the mix, too, and his mother's famous rolls.

gonna cook the cheesecake and pumpkin pie tuesday, probably, so i've not really a whole lot of cooking left to do.

Simple, basic, but classical this year. Turkey, mashed 'taters, gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, winter squash, pie, and ice-cream.

We have batting practice the next morning if it's not raining. The baseball diamonds are empty this time of year in the desert.

Veal stew, salad, crusty rolls, chocolate cupcakes/buttercream icing, a nice Cab.

Oh, and fresh wine.

My cousin will be staying here for some days. He has different diet restrictions, so he can buy his own whatever he eats. I started preparing by moving stuff out of the spare bedroom. Next is moving my kitten's second litterbox and vacuuming the carpet.

Food. I am bringing the pickles, olives and cheese...fuck the rest

Not a holiday here but we will celebrate it over the weekend. Turkey (brined) and traditional dishes.

Last year I tried deep frying a live turkey.
I won't be using that cookbook again.

Sweet potatoes candied in bourbon and brown sugar. Mashed potatoes with buttermilk and lots of cracked black pepper. Homemade green bean casserole. Sourdough bread. Very vinegary collard greens. Corn spoon bread. Beets cooked with sugar, vinegar and butter. Fennel salad. Sautéed carrots.

Butterscotch bourbon pie. Eggnog custard pie. Apple pie. Chocolate pie.

That’s just what I’m cooking. I’m not sure what else will be around the table but it will be an excellent meal.

All these carbs and sugar and 1st world arrogant luxury, no wonder the West's diabetes rate is going through the roof.

Package of Ramen soup.

Seeing how it's a special holiday I'll mix it up and go with the shrimp flavor.

Simple this year. I spatchcock the bird and roast. I'm making browned butter mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing with sage venison sausage, roasted butternut squash or sweet potatoes, and salad.

Cornbread and honeybutter.
