Within less than 2 hours of reporting, the bright, shiny new 1 votes were removed. Damn, now that's service! Especially on a free site!

:rose:

Thank you!

And to the person I irritated enough that they felt the need to look me up and vote on every single one of my submissions - You can talk to me next time, you know. I don't know who you are or what I did, but I'm not completely irrational. Instead of venting that way, why not just tell me I've pissed you off? It seems like it would take less trouble and energy. ;)

Take it as a compliment, Minsue. Honestly, I did when it happened to me. I assume that I must have made quite an impact on someone ;)

I would not presume to argue with a goose in field plate.

I find it happens all the time without reporting anything. Eerie to see the votes disappear and reappear. The voting must cause the poor folks in charge of this place endless work.

Fascinating to watch though, isn't it? :D

It does seem to happen quite regularly, but I'm always amazed at the speed with which they are removed after being reported. (I only report when they hit EVERYTHING. If it's a 1 vote here or there, I figure it could be honest. If a person really dislikes someone's work, though, they aren't going to keep going back for more and read them all. )

I'm better now, I just get a little defensive with my family is all. The yellow pills make you sleepy.

I peeked in one day and saw 8 votes missing from my Christmas Poem, and the the rating raised by 1.2 --- a good thing too, I was becoming suicidal ;)

It's nearly back there again, but this time, I fear the votes are genuine. :(

PS. Why the armor? Have you been laying golden eggs, again?

Go read my story A Troll's Christmas Gift, you'll feel better...no need to vote or PC, just enjoy.:rose:

Ok..I KNOW this is a stupid question, but how do you actually see the breakdown of votes on your story?

I submitted a story last week which has 27 votes with an average of 4.6, but I'd like to see how it breaks down by vote. I'm sure there's a way to do that, I just don't know how!

Thank you in advance for putting up with dumb newbie questions!

I can't do the math backwards like that, though I'm sure there are those here that can.

I knew I'd received one votes on mine because I knew what the scores were the last time I'd checked and I'd only received one more vote on each. For ex - one of them went from 4.88 with 17 votes to 4.66 with 18 votes. 4.88 x 17 = 82.96 Add 1 making 83.96 and divide by 18 and you get 4.66.

I'm not good enough to figure out your breakdown though without spending a hella lotta time on it. :D

Set up a spreadsheet with columns for:

ACTUAL SCORE
NUMBER OF VOTES (X)
VOTES of 5 (A)
VOTES of 4 (B)
VOTES of 3 (C)
VOTES of 2 (D)
VOTES of 1 (E)
CALCULATED SCORE

Enter the numbers in the first two columns.
Enter the following formula in the last column:

(5*A + 4*B + 3*C + 2*D + E)/X

Then play around with the variables in columns A through E until your calculated score matches your actual score.

NOTE: There may be more than one combination that produces a match, but the next vote in will probably clear up any ambiguity.

I must quote what I nominated for the seemngly lost AH Awards (thread by TheEarl) as post of the year (or day, whatever). P.

I thought I was weird in figuring out how many farts it would take to equal the energy of an atomic bomb, but you guys take the cake.

You must think your stories are being evaluated by Lionel fucking Trilling or something.

Not a damned thing weird about wanting to understand the ratings being applied to one's work. Now, the fart thing -- that IS weird.

Stupid question here...

If they can remove votes for being 'multiple', or trigger friendly friends voting on stories, surely they can see where the votes are coming from.

Why don't they just suspend the trolls bombing the stories if they hit all of a person's stories?

I would like to politely disagree. I have one or more reader(s) who read each of my stories and then bomb each story. The pattern is to constant for it not to be the work of one/small group. I may have something to do with the albatross I am forced to wear about my neck.
