Sweet Sixteen

SnP - look up the info on the Quincenera (sp? - it's been too long). It's the latin version, but it's more like "sweet 15."

Romantic, yes and a little sad.

(the baby part is sad, but I like how she's sleeping on the ground but she's happy cuz she's in the arms of the man she loves.)
For me- the sad part was that I could not get that woman undressed and in my arms. I was a teenage failure as a butch...

Actually, that story- of my obsession with Kate- is one I've been unable to write, and my original post- might be the seed to a very good tale!:)

Yeah, I read about those too, and heard about them from some Mexican friends. Also, I went to an outdoor wedding in a large park and there was a girl there who was having hers, and we thought it was another wedding at first because she was in this breathtaking white gown getting pictures taken- and she was quite beautiful herself. Everyone thought she was a young bride (like 18 or 19) but she was only 15.

I've heard about the lengths that some families go to for the quicenera- and it is amazing. Makes me wish I was hispanic:) I also love the symbolism and the family and all the meaning that goes with it. "american Traditions" (the few we have) are so empty...

(even sweet 16 is basicly and empty consumerist tradition usually with less meaning than a debutant ball. At least with the ball, there's a real meaning, presentation of the girls to the comunity as young ladies)

Yeah, well my straight friend doesn't want me either.:(

Does sometimes make good inspiration for a story, though.:)

and here I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to turn this thread onto one about ME :D

It's al about the words, all about the words.

Are you writing about a coming-out party? What brought on this interest?

lol, no- I was actually just surfing the net, reading about birthday parties and cakes and stuff and then I saw all this stuff about 'sweet 16' and I sort of wondered if anybody *really* did all that stuff. I mean, there were lots of people who posted about these big fancy parties (rich kids I guess), renting hotels, and limos and dj's and all this stuff. But I wondered if anybody I *knew* actually had any special 'sweet sixteen.'

I was going to take a couple of friends to a movie and have icecream and cake after. My parerents gave me some money and made themselves scarce and I was actually quite happy about it, but

1 friend I never did get a hold of
1 friend just didn't show up (it was a guyfriend who I liked a *lot*- and he knew it too, jerk)
1 friend went out of town with her mom. she was supposed to be my best friend!

So I sat and ate my icecream all alone, from the box, with a fork.

I called the radio and asked them to play "Stranded" by Heart, but they claimed they couldn't find it! About a week later, they played it on that station!!!

On the brightside, it was good icecream.

You know, but that's a good idea. A double meaning coming out party. a sweet sixteen themed lesbian coming out party with lots and lots of pink.

and maybe she'll buy herself a car.

the movies with Molly Ringwald were pretty good...
"Sixteen Candles"
"Pretty in Pink"

DAMN! At least I got to pay for dinner...
Have you noticed that- none of us have especially good memories of our 16th?
maybe it's a prerequisite for porn writers?

Or maybe a gay debutant ball, where everybody cross dresses.

So the lesson here is, if you never get a sweet sixteen party you grown up to be a pornographer.:D

Yeah, I noticed that. I made a comment on it a while back, but no one seemed to notice it. (I feel so invisible, lol...)

Let's face it, Stella, you are not alone. For me, and for almost every straight guy, there have been thousands of girls and women we wanted to have sex with but weren't able to.

And that is SO true.
It was easy for me to have sex with boys... which I did, don't get me wrong. Girls led me the same dances they did boys. This is a very interesting insight. Maybe I was spoiled. I didn't understand girls any more than boys do.

My sister pointed out to me, yesterday, that I was sleeping with Katy's brother...

(EDITED TO ADD;
I really WAS spoiled, in a sense. I can only imagine the frustration of not being able to fuck thousands of women. For me, it's only been hundreds that i haven't been able to fuck... many many hundreds..

Have you heard the song "Black Jack Davey"?
Or, less intellectually:
"When apples are red, they're ready for plucking,
When girls are sixteen, they're ready for fucking!"

Anyone know any 16-year-olds who fancy blokes in their late 50's? (I wish!)

Young women they run
Like deer on the mountain
Young women they run
Like deer on the mountain
And if i were a young man
I'd soon go out huntin'
fa la la la la la... (etc)

Young Women they swim
Like ducks on the water

Like ducks on the water
And if i were a young man
I'd soon go swim after

Young women they sing
Like birds in the bushes
Young women they sing
Like birds in the bushes
And if i were a young man
I'd go beat those bushes...

Well, I'm writing from the UK, where (except for Ireland) the age of consent is 16. Acording to http://www.avert.org/aofconsent.htm that's the global average...

YO! And wouldn't we all?

I was in Japan and we were all caught up in New Year preparations. I was too tall and trying desperately to pretend I was still Japanese. It was bittersweet, maybe. It was my last birthday with my elder brother and my parents were mentally a thousand miles away from me.

I think I was a thousand miles way from myself, as well.

Luck,

Yui

I had a friend who moved away and tried to come home... She was so miserable. The society has no place for returnees. (Edit to say- She was Japanese, duh!)

Returning restokes memory but is not really possible in the sense of going back, ever. Urban places drive this lesson in very hard. I hope you had comfort somewhere, yui. If not yet, then soon.

I've heard that Mexicans don't care too much for Mexican American's either. They like them less than Gringos. (Claimes my M-A friend.)
