I.C.

Jenny looked up at her husband the night was still almost to warm for her and she had thrown off the blanket he kept trying to force over her and the baby. she couldn't help but smile at him. she trully did loves this man of hers. then she looked at her new son named johny after her father so tiny and innocent. she never knew love could be so strong. she felt his hungry lips pulling at her tender nipple as he suckled and giggled. " this boy of yours is a little pigglet james." james burst out with a hearty laugh that warmed her insides. " as well he should be my lovely he taked after his papa after all." at this she laughed too. then she heard it. horses comign up on them from behind. it was the first time they had seen another rider and it being so late at night too. she tryed to look behind them but she could not see from where she lay behind james. looking up at him she could see that he had tensed and was clicking at the horses to go faster. " james ? what is it whats the matter?" she could hear the fast pace of the horse and worried. where they comeing after them? james looked behind them and shouted as a gun fired booming loudly in the silent night " get down Jenny cover the babe" he was whipping the horses even faster trying to get away from teh men that had fired at them. but they only had the two horses and they where weighed down by the wagon full of their belongings. the baby began to cry as the booming of gun fire continued and jenny moved further down laying on her side and pulling the blanket of her and her new born. then she heard it.. another round of gun fire and then james screamed the wagon tilted and there was a loud thump. to affraid to look up jenny held on tighter to her infant and screamed for james. but there was no answer. and the horses where not out of control. the wagon went to close to a gully and tiped onto two wheels before fully tiping over.. the horses screamed and then there was silence. the men that had been after them stoped their horses and watched as all this happend. they went and tryed to tip the wagon back over but seeing as there where only two of them they did not have the strength. so they got on their horses and rode off as fast as they could. jenny lay unconces with her baby protected in her arms. the baby began to cry but jenny could not seem to make her eyes open to tend to the poor baby.

O'Shien chuckled slightly. "Now ye say I'm a good marksman because I shot a couple of coyotes? Pullin fourteen nasty gents off ya earlier did nae prove it?" He asked jokingly. He considered her suggestion, staying up through the night did not sound like a very good prospect. "Alright then, let me examine what we have." He walked over to the pile of travelling equipment the bandits had. "Hmmm most everything looks pretty messed up. I could possibly salvage one tent from this mess with a little work. That is if you don't mind sharing with me." He turned and started to sort through the pieces before she could answer.

Julia realized how foolish that had sounded to him and he was right shooting the men should have made her realize how good he truly was but she was trying to forget what had happened and to that goal she did not make a fuss over his abilities before. As he looked at what was available to make a tent she realized what he had said about sharing. The thought spun in her head and excited her a bit. She knocked it away and thought even if in the same tent they had their own bedrolls so everything should be alright.

OOC: I like it, good concept, just let us know how you'd like your character to be involved, or feel free to meet with one of the groups at some point.

IC:
"So I take it then thar be no objections?" He asked as he went to retrieve the bedroll he had put out for her and tossed it in the tent. "I would nae want to be encroaching upon yer honor highness." He sighed. "I'm sorry, that was nae necessary. Just been a long night so me nerves be a bit shot." He shook his head as he finished setting up the tent and threw his own gear inside. He lay his makeshift ba of rifles next to his bedroll and one pistol above his head. he handed the other to Julia. "Now I'm trusting ye won't plug me in the night and take off with me goods." He said seriously. "Normally I wouldn't dream of givin ye me arms but there be danger about this night." He shrugged and kicked his boots off before climbing into the tent, laying with his back to her.

ooc( thanks i hoped it would be ok.. i was told bymacmillian to post my charector and make it so he and cassie could assist her.. so that is what i tryed to do :).. )

OOC: Sounds good, we'll see if these two seperate storylines end up reintersecting in the long run :)

Julia slipped into the tent, squatted and spread out the bedroll listeninging to him. She shook her head no to his question. For a minute she didn't believe her ears when he got testy with her. She turned to him eyes shooting sparks and then he apogized in a off hand way. She turned back to her bedroll and continued to smooth it. Her mind was racing with smart answers that she couldn't use as he had ran from calm to nasty and back to calm too quickly. She wondered what manner of man he was as she slipped into her makeshift bed and turned her back on him.

He stared at the side of the tent, unable to sleep. His mind was alive with images things he wanted to forget. His family back in Ireland, god rest their souls. His best mate, shot down at Fort Davidson. He sighed softly. He'd been alone since then. Just doing whatever he could to get by, taking advantage of chaos and disorder to live off the land. He lay there, listening to Julia's breathing next to him and for what seemed the hundredth time that night he had to quell rising emotions in him. She was a woman and he was a man. Only a fool wouldn't be feeling the things he was feeling right now after so many months without right? He sighed again and concentrated on falling asleep.

Julia found herself in her reoccurent dream. At first she smiled in her sleep as the dream was pleasant, then a frown touched her face as she dreamed of the argument her Father and her had had. Then the burning, hot flames surrounded her as she made her way around them, and reached fresh air. Suddenly outside in the fresh air, her clothing scorched, she heard the screams of her family who were trapped within. Julia ran to the fire but the heat stopped her.

Julia was thrashing about, yelling no intermittenly as she fought through her horrific dream.

O'Shien was drifting off to sleep when he heard her begin to scream. He bolted upright, hand automatically reaching behind his pillow and bringing the revolver out. He swung it forwards, looking for the source of the disturbance, eyes wide as he sensed danger all around him. He quickly relaxed as he realized she was asleep, but he looked down at her concerned. "Christ must be one hell of a nightmare." He said as he looked at her face, tearing up as she thrashed about. He leaned over and shook her shoulder, trying to wake her up. When that didn't work he grasped her head in his hands and shook gently, being sure not to be too rough. "Julia, wake up...JULIA!" He yelled.

She was fighting as she always did, fighting to wake up from the horrors of the dream. She heard her name called and a shaking motion as she opened her eyes she did not really wake from the dream. Yankees she thought as she fought to be released but instead was held in a vice like grip. Her vision cleared, O'Shien was right in front of her face, close. She relaxed as she blinked her eyes, tears wet her cheek as she spoke to him.

"You can let me go now, I am quite awake, the dream has ended"

Her chest heaved with the passion that the dream always created.

"Jaysis lass, that was quite the scare ya put into me there." He said backing away as her cold tone of voice made him feel a villian for trying to wake her. "I did nae mean no harm by anything, just figured ye would rather not be sleeping through whatever night spectre it was has gripped her heart." He noticed the tears on her eyes and figured she was being extra cold to try and hide the fact that whatever it was she had dreamed was something right terrifying. He decided to do the polite thing and give her some privacy, much to his own surprise. "I'm gonna go and make sure everything be alright with camp." He said, grabbing his rifle and climbing out of the tent.

As he made to leave, Julia's voice came to his ear's through the flap. The sound was soft and imploring, filled with emotion.

"Please don't go"

Julia felt the power of her emotions and did not want to be alone. Hoping he would stay, thinking with him there, the tears would not overcome her. As she saw the flap close she covered her eyes and the pain within her flowed out causing her to shake and feel very cold.

O'Shien muttered softly under his breathe, hearing her voice begging him to stay as he left. He stood outside for a long moment, staring into the night, his mind raced... he should keep walking. This girl was an emotional timebomb and he was at the center of the explosion. Keep walking ya daft bollock headed twat... He sighed heavily, turning and re-entering the tent. "Thar thar lass, no need to get scared. Ain't nothin going to happen to us this night." He said, kneeling down in front of her.

Julia needed contact and as he kneeled by her she threw her arms around him and held him tightly. Her cheek went to his chest and she gathered strength not to cry. She closed her eyes and trembled. She had to beat the dream, it was weakening her and she could not afford to be weak in this new world she found herself in.

His eyes widened as she threw her arms around him. He moved his arms out of the way and nearly fell over as she hugged him. He awkwardly put his arms around her, once again feeling way out of his league when it came to comforting people. He figured she didn't want to hear anything right now anyway and just hugged her, letting her rest on his chest

She leaned on him for awhile and then began to speak.

"I am sorry Mr. O'Shien for this weakness that I have shown you. It is the dream you see, it will not go away. First my Father and I quarreling and then I find myself in the fire, flame so hot they dont have to touch you for it to hurt. Escaping the flame to find my family is caught within it and then the horrible screams that pierce the morning. Then the dream captures me and shows it to me over and over again until I fight out of the sleep that binds me to hell.

Strange that I would find solace in a strangers arms, it is not like me and neither is this reck in your arms. Not like me at all. I will leave in the morning Mr. O'Shien, so you dont feel burdened"

He took a deep breathe before he began to speak trying to find the time to get his words together. He was a man of action, not one of words and it was hard for him to get the words he wanted to say to come out and not just clamp up. "It's nae weakness to show emotion out here. Sometimes a person puts away things fer so long they'll be overwhelmed if they don't let it out. I take it yer family was a victim of the war? It claimed many lives. So much senseless killing on both sides..." His eyes glazed over as he thought of Fort Davidson. "A lot of innocent people lost their lives for a lot of stupid reasons." He sighed and patted her back. "You nae have to apologize lass. We all have ghosts and demons to fight."
His mind screamed in protest as he spoke his next words. "You handle yourself well with a gun, and I would be remiss if I allowed ya the opportunity to land yerself in another situation like you were in this afternoon. Two sets of eyes can watch over each other better than one. Ye don't have to be movin on if ye don't want to."

We Shall be along shortly as soon as we start in the morning when we break canmp and head west. See you soon. Do not give up we will be there. Macmillian

"Well it may be sinful," I said to her, "but you know that I wouldn't want it any other way!"

Cassi laughed merrily then looked to the flash in the sky.

"Looks like we are going to have rain before morning"

She watched him dress and she set up looking to the gear. "Cassi, stow our gear and things in the lean to," I said as I slapped her ass playfully, "and I'll take care of the animals."

That hurt her pride being smacked that way and she went very silent even though she took care of the supplies in the camp. Packing everything efficiently was just like her but she realized that he was fooling with her and she lightened her pouty frown to a grin.

I would just like to sit awhile Cassi," I told her, "and maybe hold you too. To smell you hair, hold hands and kiss."

Cassi slipped her hand in his and then looked to the skies. "Shore is somethin to beholdin."

"Or I just might finish what I started," I chuckled, "a sound spanking on your most delectable ASS."

Then the words stung her once more, She moved away from him keeping quiet. Yet the hurt and anger in her eyes was unmistakable for the wrong doing. Cassi hated spankings having received many of them in the past.

"Cassi, Please come sit with me, I was only fooling, please come over and sit. I apologized, I didn't mean it!!!"

"I's be goin to bed.!" Cassi retorted and flopped down on the bedroll placing her back to the opening. At least he wasn't sleeping alone but she wasn't facing him in the slightest.

Cassi didn't even move when he slipped behind her, Only the soft sobbing that she made before falling asleep was penitence enough

I now knew that I had made a big mistake in kidding around about hitting her and I would not make that mistake again. Cassi slipped into the leanto and layed down facing the away with her back to me.

Letting things lie for awile, I gave Cassi a chance to settle down. I slipped into the leanto and laid down behind her and Gently layed my arm around her waist. I could feel her trembling, but was afraid to say anything.

Rain had started to fall as I drifted off to sleep. MY last thoughts were about Cassi and had I ruined a good thing with a bad or improper joke.
Maybe the rain would wash away some of the bad air and things could start fresh in the morning.

I slowly drifted off to sleep with the sweet aroma of Cassi laying next to me.

Cassi noticed the change in his breathing, she had awoke and sensed that he was worried by some small standard, so before she fell completely to sleep the second time she rolled over and curled into his chest for warmth as the rain continued to fall.

The croaking of tiny frogs woke her again, the light was peering over the ridge making small beams of light drift into the lean-to.

Cassi looked up and noticed that Alex was looking at her in his arms with a smile.

"Mornin ta yoreself Masser Alex.. I reckon you be powerful hungry after dat rain."

Well good morning to you too. I said, giving her my biggest and brightest smile I could.

"Yes I am!", I replied, "but first I have to do something!" I pulled her up closer to me and kissed her lovingly and gently. After a few moments, I broke the kiss and said, "Promise me, promise me that we will never go to bed mad or upset with each other. Promise me!"

I held her close and her aroma filled me with joy. I knew that she was no longer mad or upset with me. "I have strong feelings for you Cassi," I whispered in her ear, "feelings I have never felt before. So promoise me you will always tell me when something is wrong."

I kissed her cheek and then on her rich full lips. She was so much a woman and I was a lucky man to have her by my side. "You said something about being hungry?. Well I am."

"Yes I am!", I replied, "but first I have to do something!"

Cassi was surprised by the kiss but melted to his body like a fresh maiden.

"Promise me, promise me that we will never go to bed mad or upset with each other. Promise me!"

"Yes Sirrah Masser Alex." Cassi promised solemnly.

"I have strong feelings for you Cassi," I whispered in her ear, "feelings I have never felt before. So promoise me you will always tell me when something is wrong."

"I's promise, Masser Alex."

"You said something about being hungry?. Well I am."

Cassi went to leave his arms and go get some fish. Fish and fried taters would be filling enough for a breakfast. yet something seemed amiss, he still held her. Was it something else he hungered for or was there something else that needed saying?

Cassi went to leave my arms, but I still clung to her. "Let us just relax here a little", I said, "I just need to hold you a little longer. That's all I ask for now. That and a little patience with me." I squeezed her and pulled her in closer and put my face to her hair and took a deep breath. After her bath and the refreshing rain she smelled so good.

I had to let her go, The sun was almost full up and we han't done a thing.

"You fix breakfast and I'll get the horses taken care of." I said releasing her from my grasp. "I never looked so good in that shirt, Cassi." I said smiling, "you sure do! Why don't you keep it with your things and it will be handy when you need it."

I took my clothes and stepped out into the fresh mornig air. The ground was still wett from the rain, so I just put my pants and shirt on and walked over to where the horses were barefooted. The damp ground and grass felt good on my feet and it didn't take long for me to finish with the horses. I left them where they were and would bring them up when we were ready.

When I got back to camp, Cassi had the fire going and and pan heating on the rocks next to the fire. She turned when she heard me coming and I gave her my usual Big silly grin.
