Surrender

He rose off her nodding slightly. "Aye food would be great right now." He grabbed his pile of clothing, pulling on his trousers and grabbing his shirt but pausing to look at her. "Something I feel I should tell ya lass..." He said, trying to work his words out. "Ye saw the fear my name produced in those men downstairs?" He asked her, seeing her nod. "Well.. I think its important ye know, I've killed many men before.. often fer no better reason than money. I don't consider myself a cold blooded killer, but I do nae shy from lookin out for me and mine." He looked into her eyes, seeing if her opinion of him would be changed at all.

Julia listened to him and nodded her head as she crawled on the bed over to him and then raised her body up as she knelt on the bed holding her arms out to him. As he came into her arms she spoke.

"O'Shien, at this time men and even women have to do things that are not exactly pleasant. It is a time of turmoil and if you didn't kill them, they would certainly kill you. It is good they fear you, it will deter them in most cases from testing your abilities which are amazing. I am proud to be your partner, O'Shien"

She kissed him on his lips and gave him a hug before stepping off the bed and picking up her clothing. She looked at him and saw him looking at her.

"What is it O'Shien"

He held her close, feeling her lips on his again, wondering how he managed to go so long without it, now feeling like he would be unable to live without it again. He shook his head slightly. She did not seem to care that he had and most likely would murder men again. She was as rough as she was soft, a complete enigma to him. "Understand though that if you come with me there will often be danger like that which I saved you from. I do nae wish to scare you off, as I desire you to be with me now, I just want ye to have no delusions about the life that ye'll be living.." He hugged her again, kissing the top of her head gently.

"Cassi, I do not know what to say to you. When I am with you, I want to hold and kiss you, but in private. I don't want anybody to else to know."

Cassi understood all too well. The young need for the right partner. She felt it many times, which was why she was so well loved. She watched as he moved after another cup of coffee. His body was well stocked, muscles that were close to the bones, hands that felt every pulsing inch of flesh. Cassi felt her heart race as she admired his features that would produce fine strapping sons.

Then Cassi blushed as her thoughts went to children. She estimated that it was Miz Jenny's baby that brought that new feeling up inside.

Finally she got up and slipped behind him. She hugged him from the back to keep from making it look wrong. "Masser Alex.. yous jus sayin wuts in yer heart. Tain't wrong ta feels da way yore feelin. I reckon caus mes a niggra ans yore white makes it hard ta do wut comes natural tween a man an a woman."

Cassi slipped her hand low and started to massage his balls making him feel more hot for her. She felt the heat dripping from his body as he stood there savoring her touch and caress.

It was when the raging pain in his flesh demanded to be sated. Cassi was taken from camp and dropped to the ground. She moaned as the head pierced her glistening hole, driving with urgency to fill and relieve.

Driving harder and harder their bodies writhed in the plunge to the peak. It struck like a chord and thankfully Alex's lips covered hers as the rush of her climax brought a scream from the pit of her belly. A feeling rarely reached in the past, then a glorious pouring of jism flooding her cunt. Cassi curled into his arms and drifted into a light sleep.

She didn't know that he picked her up and carried her back to the camp. He had his priorities in order as they included the young mother in their ongoing search of something more then the damaged lands of the south

.... Her clossness, her warm sweet smell and her firm stroking hand and fingers...... I han not intended to do anything this night, but emotions and feeling were rampant and so I carried her off. The urgency to fill her and to releive myself, I drove harder and deeper than ever before. I could feel Cassi pull herself to me as we both went tearing off over the precepitice. The glory of such a strong and glorious climax was again something new and wounderfull to me.

We rested awhile, Cassi curled into my arms and slep the sleep of a woman satisfied. I let her sleep and I sat there just watching her breathing and the rise and fall of her breasts in the soft low glow of the moon. I picked her up and carried her back to camp, she was so ight in my arms. She had said earlier I was just saying what came into my heart! But that was where I was confused. A young White Man making love to a middle aged older Black Woman. We made love to each other, it wasn't just sex for sex..

..... I'LL BE!!!!!!.....WHY I'LL BE......... I WAS FALLING FOR cASSI.........ME, I WAS FALLING CASSI............

Arriving back in camp, I gently placed Cassi gently on the blankets and covered her. I check the young woman and her baby and they were both asleep. I took a canteen of water, my sharps and the two pistols and stationed myself between the road and the camo in the cover of the tree line.

My responsibilities were increasing. First Cassi and now young Jenny and her son. We would head in the direction of her inlaws farm and hope they were still there. But I had my doubts. We had the making of a fine and close group. We had horses, a wagon, food and weapons. A little gold to get what we need. Their care and protection fell to me and I know now that this is what I was going to do.

Cassi, Jenny and David. Three souls now in my care and protection............ I will have to sit down with Cassi and explain my plan to her. I hope she understands. It was a way to get us away without drawing to much attention to ourselves. Just a family heading west.

Having made those decisions, I clearded my mind and and took a drink of water and stood my watch untill morning. The morning sun rose a few hours later and I returnd to camp and cassi was getting dressed underneath the blanket and Jenny was feeding her son.

I bent to the fire and added some kindling and slowly the flames rose and I added more more fuel. light stickes at first and then some heavier pices. Cassi walked over with our food bags.

"Morning, Cassi", I said as I stood, "It's going to be a fine day!".

"Morning, Cassi", I said as I stood, "It's going to be a fine day!".

"Ders some fish acookin in pan. I's be fixin coffee in few minutes." Cassi offered the morning meal.

She quickly dressed and saw to the horses making sure that nothing was in the groves of the hoof. One could stop and stare at the ways of this woman. She knew many things fairly and yet it seemed like she was well versed in so many talents that it was frightening.

"Miz Jenny, is yore hungree, I gots fish a cookin." Cassi called to the young woman.

"THE PLAN:"

The coffee was soon ready and we all sat and ate. I had a second cup of coffee and sat there.......(silence).....

"Cassi, We have to talk," I spoke softly and both woman strain to hear what I was saying. "Jenny, Stay at the wagon while Cassi and I have a talk". I stood and offered my hand to Cassi and she rose and we walked off towards the tree line. I sat Cassi down on a log at the edge of the trees and stood there a moment, looking down at her.

"CASSI !" I started, " please listen and do not interupt! Cassi....(pause) .... I think I am falling in love with you! It is not lust or the sex. The strong feeling and emotions. The pain in my gut and the feeling I got when you left without telling me. It is all pointing at one thing. The one thing I am fighting to come to grip's with." I held up my hand to keep Cassi from speaking. Drawing a breath I continued

""The Plan is this, We travel togrther, Jenny my wife and son David and our trusted friend Cassi. This plan would allow us to travel without attracking too much attention to our pary. This is going to be your biggest and hardest thing to do and I really do not want to ask. But to get out of Georgia and the south, it has to be done."

"Cassi, Will you Do it for ME, for our love", I said, "I leave it up to you. This is going to be hardest on you most of all."

Julia nodded her head.

"Yes, I know there will be danger. There will be danger for me wheather I am with you ro not as I found out when those men attacked me. I want to be with you. We can protect each other. And have a bit of happiness for a change"

She smiled at him again.

"Well... that being the case.... I could really do fer some foods." He smiled at her and led her downstairs her arm wrapped around him, trying to do his best to be a bit of a gentleman while they were in private, but immediately readopting his cocky walk and cold eyed stare as they emerged downstairs into the dining room of the inn. He walked up to the bar and dropped down a couple coins. "Food fer me and the lass." He said simply, staring around the room, hands near the hilts of his revolvers, eyes alert for any threat.

Julia was content to walk down the stairs with her arm wrapped around him and his around her. But as they reached the floor both seemed to tense and she rested her hand over the butt of her pistol as she scanned the room for any possible dangers. As he walked over to the Inn Keeper she could visabally see him become the Irish Ghost. She found a table against a wall where they would both be able to watch the room for trouble and sat down waiting for him.

She would protect him with her life if need be.

He sat down, letting his eyes soften as he gazed into hers, giving her a hidden wink to let her know that he was still thinking about the passionate moments they had just shared upstairs. He sat in silence as the innkeeper served them food, a beef stew with a generous helping of meat and potatoes, just as O'Shien liked it. He left another coin as a tip for the man and sat eating in silence. Finally he lowered his voice and whispered to her. "See that man in the far corner? I had hoped not to run into him here.. memories apparently run longer than I had expected. I was forced to shoot his brother dead last time I was through here, and his eyes are telling me he is planning his vengenance now.."

Julia decreetly held her eyes downward as they moved slow over to the man. She could see the hate in his eyes and knew he meant trouble. She brought her eyes back to look at O'Shien.

"I will keep my eyes on him while we eat as he would not expect trouble from me"

She loosened the holster under the table. Her pistol was now on the ready as she watched the man under hooded lids.

"I would nae worry about him for now, eat in peace. I know his type. He has nothing but hate for me, but he will not do anything dishonorable. He'll try to catch me outside afterwards... duel me. For now though just be careful. There may be others around who are not so honorable." He took another bite of his stew. "I will rest a bit easier when we put some distance between us and this place.."

"Cassi, We have to talk," I spoke softly and both woman strain to hear what I was saying. "Jenny, Stay at the wagon while Cassi and I have a talk".

Cassi went quietly yet she sensed that something was troubling Alex. She merely went along thinking that his manhood needed to be tended too. When they stopped she looked to him but he pointed to the log and she sat perplexed by his facial expression.

"CASSI !" I started, " please listen and do not interrupt!

Cassi wanted to say something as she heard his revelation. Her mind accepted that , she saw all the signs that would indicate that was happening. Still she frowned as he silenced her.I wonder whats Masser Alex fidgetin about she thought.

"The Plan is this, We travel together, Jenny my wife and son David and our trusted friend Cassi. This plan would allow us to travel without attracting too much attention to our party. This is going to be your biggest and hardest thing to do and I really do not want to ask. But to get out of Georgia and the south, it has to be done."

Cassi lost all her nerve as tears formed at the corner of her eyes. She was suppose to be their trusted friend.. Alex wanted to say Miz Jenny was his woman.. did that mean he'd bed her too?

"Cassi, Will you Do it for ME, for our love", I said, "I leave it up to you. This is going to be hardest on you most of all."

Cassi looked at her hands while he waited for her answer. She would have to keep her feelings silent.. how could she hide the hunger for his flesh? She wanted to die hearing him take a sharp breathe.

"Yes Masser Alex, I's will be adoin what yore sayin." Then Cassi rose and turned her head trying to pull the tears back from trickling along her soft cheeks.

"Yes Masser Alex, I's will be adoin what yore sayin." Then Cassi rose and turned her head trying to pull the tears back from trickling along her soft cheeks.

"CASSI, CASSI, My sweet Cassi", and taking her into my arms and glently drawing her to me. "Everthing is going to be alright. Don,t Cry now. Be happy in the knowledge of my love." We stood there in each others arms and not saying much.

"To everyone I am husband and father. In public as it should be. I may have to share her bed, but I will not have her. She has just lost her husband and I feel that will be a deterance as her love of him will still be strong. If there was another way to do this, I would do it and leaving Jenny and the boy is not an option and I know that you agree on that. You love that youngster and in your heart you know this is right. The right thing to do."

I relaxed my hold on Cassi and bent to kiss her lush full lips.

Releasing her completly, "Let's go tell Jenny OUR plan. We have a long way to go and we should start to move west again."

"I will rest a bit easier when we put some distance between us and this place.."

Julia nodded her head but still continued to watch the man but now she scanned the whole room with her eyes everytime O'Shien' dipped his face to dip into his food. She would not rest until they were far away from here. She continued to eat as she knew he would certainly notice a full bowl of food.

He sighed, knowing he was going to have to kill again within the next hour. Maybe there was some way he could avoid the conflict, but he couldn't think of anything that would work. Oh well. He'd killed before, he wasn't going to lose any sleep over it. Though he was surprised that the thought of killing brought any sort of remorse up. Maybe this girl was having a bigger effect on him than he thought. He looked at her smiling reassuringly as he finished his food. He rose to his feet. "I'm going to go take care of this now... I still want to be able to get a good nights sleep." He said, loosening his pistols as he stepped out of the inn, the man following close behind him. He sighed softly as the man called him out.
"You killed my brother! Now I'm going to kill you! Turn and face me!"
O'Shien swung around, staring at the man, seeing Julia over his shoulder coming out of the inn after him.
"I got no quarrel with you. Walk away, there's no need to die tonight.." He said, staring the man down with cold eyes, his hands hovering over his pistols. "Seriously boy, just walk away." He could see in the man's eyes that he wouldn't back down, and the twitch was all O'Shien needed. Both his guns cleared the holsters, two shots ringing out before the man could even clear his single pistol. The man screamed and fell to the ground, dropping his gun as one of the bullets ripped through his right hand and collapsing to the ground as the second bullet tore through his knee. O'Shien walked up to him, kicking his gun away and pointing his pistols in the man's face. "I told you to just walk away. Julia lass! Get a doctor for this man!" He leaned down lowering his voice to a whisper. "Ye thank the Holy Ghost that me girl over there is watchin' or I'd a gunned you down right here. You'll live, but ye won't be shooting again anytime soon.. should have just let this one go." He stood, holstering his weapons as he walked back towards the inn.

Julia did as she was told and found the local doctor, explaining the wounded man had insisted on a shoot out. The doctor shook his head as if he had seen this before and Julia walked back into the inn looking for O'Shien who had returned to his food and their table. She walked over to him and sat down and started eating relieved that the situation had been kept under control by him.

He walked back into the inn, sitting back down and waiting for Julia to join him. He smiled as she came in and rose. "The man will survive then?" He asked, nodding at her affirmative answer. "Let's finish this food, I feel the need for a rest.." He sat down, draining his mug of beer as she finished eating. He rose, gesturing for her to follow him back upstairs. Once they entered the room he took her in his arms again, kissing her deeply. "I'm sorry ye had to see that lass, but like I said, death seems to follow me wherever I go..."

Julia went willingly into his arms and gladly accepted his deep kiss. When he apologized for what she had seen she shook her head.

"You were generous not to kill him. You drew him out if you had not done this, I would have shot him through the head and I would have been wrong. The doctor admonished the lad. He told him that his brother was just plain bad but he had something to give to the world. It seems he is studying under the doctor. I don't know how you knew not to kill him. The doctor seemed to think you did as he said the wounds were deliberate so that he will recuperate nicely but never be able to draw quickly again. His hand according to the doctor will hold a scapel nicely. How did you know not to kill him O'Shien"

She stayed in his tight embrace looking deeply into his eyes.

On our way back to the camp, I paused and went over to the horses and gathered up the pair of horses for the wagon and led them over to where I hung their harnesses. It only took me a short time to prepare and hithch the horses to the wagon. I then went and got our two mounts and led them over to the camp where the saddles lay.

"Ladies......", I said as I approached, " let's prepare to leave, but first Jenny we have something to say to you"

"CASSI, CASSI, My sweet Cassi", and taking her into my arms and glently drawing her to me. "Everthing is going to be alright. Don,t Cry now. Be happy in the knowledge of my love."

Cassi did understand his reasoning. It was to keep Miz Jenny safe from others and help them pass thru the countryside unmolested. Yet that idea was somewhat fool proof as long as there was none that recalled what her husband looked like. "yes Masser Alex."

Cassi melted to his kiss and gave him a broad smile reassuring him that she was fine with the decision and even gave him a hug that replied her faith in him.

"Let's go tell Jenny OUR plan. We have a long way to go and we should start to move west again."

"Yes Sir, Masser Alex" Cassi walked with him smiling as they returned to camp and Cassi went ahead getting things packed away to make things easier on both Alex and Miz Jenny.

"Ladies......",He said as he approached, " let's prepare to leave, but first Jenny we have something to say to you"

Cassi steeled herself to listen to him explain the plan to the young woman. She was holding the pans from breakfast tight in her left hand waiting for the words to spill from his mouth. She also prayed silently that the young mother believed the plan as well

I looked from Cassi to Jenny and the baby and back to Cassi. Gave her a smile and a wink. I hoped Cassi could keep it all together.

"Jenny, I have a plan and you are a large part of it." I spoke quietly and quickly, "For us to move safley and to avoid trouble, you should travel as my wife and David as my son. Cassi will be a Friend who is traveling with us to help you and the baby."

I paused to let what I said to sink in before I continued. It was a lot to think of for a young woman, but I knew I had to press. Time was short. We should be moving and moving now.

"WE will Protect you and the baby untill we find your family or you find a place you would like to stop and stay. You are welcom to travel with us, but it has to be as man and wife and child." Again a short pause.

"There is a small town just down the road and we can get the supplies we need there and continue on. Can you drive the wagon or should I have Cassi drive? Do you know how to shoot a revolver and hit what you are shooting at?"

"Jenny, I have a plan and you are a large part of it."He spoke firm then quickly added "For us to move safley and to avoid trouble, you should travel as my wife and David as my son. Cassi will be a Friend who is traveling with us to help you and the baby."

Jenny seemed to feel lost but stood there staring at Alex as he continued talking. She hated the lie but after thinking about it understood the rational of his thinking. She looked back at Cassi and gave a weak smile. There was a lot riding their shoulders and a small child would be easier to manage with help. at least until she reached her in-laws.

"WE will Protect you and the baby untill we find your family or you find a place you would like to stop and stay. You are welcom to travel with us, but it has to be as man and wife and child." Again a short pause.

"I want to say it ... I do need the help to get where I am going.. I could not get there alone.. with David." Jenny realized that Alex had foreseen the whole parties need before he said anything to her.

"There is a small town just down the road and we can get the supplies we need there and continue on. Can you drive the wagon or should I have Cassi drive? Do you know how to shoot a revolver and hit what you are shooting at?"

"I can drive the wagon.. but not hold David at the same time... and No I can't shoot."

Cassi looked to Alex. "I's be willin to drive her wagon.. it tain't that hard .. no sirrah.. I reckon I cans be ahiddin a gun neath my skirts."

"OK, Cassi you drive the wagon and Jenny will ride with you." I announced and saddled only one horse and put the other saddle in the wagon and tied the extra horse to the rear.

I handed the extra pistol and belt and holster to Cassi, "Just hang on to this for awhile and tonight I go over it with you." I help both Cassi and Jenny up onto the wagon and mounted my horse. I led out onto the road and followed it going in a westerly direction. I looked over my shoulder and gave a reassuring look both women.

I eased back so I was riding next to the wagon on Jenny's side. "Everything will be fine Jenny, keep smiling and keep our son happy" I smiled at her and she smilled back.

"Your'e doing a good job with that team Miss Cassi. A very good job." A wink and a smile and Cassi returned with her own bright smile. Man I sure hope I am doing the right thing. Their lives, not to mention my own, was in my hands and I hoped that I was equal to the task.

About an hour later I was surprise to see Jenny slip off the seat and into the wagon. I rode over to make sure everthing was alright and was greeted with the sight of young David attached to Jenny's ripe full breast and sucking for all he was worth. Jenny looked up an straight into my eyes and smiled and gave a wink. All I could do was smile back and resumes my place in front of the team.

As the morning wore on, more people were on the road both coming and going. We must be nearing the town and I watched each new face as they passed. I pulled the Sharps out of the saddle boot and laid it out across the saddle. Just to be on the safe side. We passed several homes and crossed over a bridge that spanned a small creek.

We climbed a rise and looked down on a small lazy southern Georgia town. It was set in the center of a small valley next to the river. We had skipped the noon meal and Cassi brought the wagon up next to me and stopped. We will be there before night falls and you will be able to rest. All of us can rest.

He chuckled silently as she spoke. She was right of course, but at the same time he couldn't help be surprised with how easily she could rationalize the fact he had nearly crippled a man today. He was a brute man, but perhaps the fact that he had not killed hte lad was a sign she was rubbing off on him a little. "If I'd killed him there would only be another waiting to challenge me next time I came through town. Besides, he drew so slowly there was nae reason to kill him. I kill when it is necessary only lass." He said, stepping away from her and pulling his shirt off as he kicked his boots off. "Now fer some long overdue rest." He said, pulling his pants off as he climbed into the bed.
