I started with poetry some years ago...off and on....usually as a vehicle for self expression...lol some things never change.

I've learned it takes 3 poems to get me undepressed. I had only written one poem before Sept. 05 and that was when I was 12 and it was for a school assignment about "liberty" ...

I only remember a few lines of it. I do wish I could remember all of it. But all I recall is... *bare with me and be kind... I was only 12*

What Liberty means to me is in the palm of my hand.
It means the love and the faith that has come to this land.

I'm doing okay this evening. Sleeping isn't the easiest thing these days, but that's the way it goes I guess. I have to take some pills to get through the nights.

I do use it as a catharsis, a release for intense emotions. Originally it was all angst....then I learn to express other things.... I found some that I attempted some 20 years ago...*flinch* experience has refined me. Lol.

thinking about submitting this one....lol

Long have I awaited
wracked by loneliness
Your touch unleashes
A torrent of emotions
A drink of cool blessed water
to a parched traveler.
A wanting, yet a desire to flee
fear of hurt.

Gladness rises, timid and shy.
Is such love an ephemeral dream?
My body longs for your embrace
assaging my long dark night.
Shaking from my uncertainty
I drink of you with my lips
and touch you with warm caress.
A dream! A dream! You sigh.
There is not truth in such gladness
yet in your eyes I see heaven
a well of life, an Oasis in life's journey,
shining with your love of me.
How can such a dream be?

Thankyou...*hugs* you are kind. It is interesting in that with writing it helps me to identify my feelings and emotions better...they come out and one can look at them. "saaaay! that is interesting!" *the flickering light bulb goes on* Illumination.....or it can be...Durn! or a more vehement...DAMN! LOL Clarity is not always a desirable state.
