I have always been a party animal.

I like my whiskey cold and straight, one shot at a time along with a cold Mike's...

I never had any weight issues until after my first neck surgery. I was too active and had a very physical job, but after the surgery I was allowd too many "comfort foods" and went from 165 to 200 pounds in about 8 months...

I worked hard to loose that but I couldn't return to my fully active life and a few years later had a second neck surgery...

Then it was the roller coaster...

I started working out about four years ago after a back injury and physical therapy and was doing very well until we moved... Six moths of organizing, fast foods and zero discipline...

The older I get the easier it is to gain if I don't stay active and many of my activities I can't engage in anymore, so the gym is my solution. Having a trainer and a standing appointment gives me the discipline I lack.

I was never a partier. I'd like to have been, but the situations were never there for me.

I struggled off and on from the 8th grade, but it became a real battle after getting pregnant 3 weeks after the first baby and having them both so close together. I never recovered from that initial weight gain and then got pregnant again and of course that added more weight. It never came off for long after that. Baby 3 came around in 1999 and again more weight.

I look forward to losing some if not most of it. My dad figures I'll get down to 170 or 150. I am fine with anything but what I am now. ;)

Last baby at 1999... So you are still very young and that is a very reasonable goal if you can stick with the plan Red...

I need to get my wife back on course...

It isn't easy for me to meet my goals when it is so easy to come home and order pizza for dinner, have a few beers and a few shots and place the blame on "stress"...

I'm getting there... Wednesday I was over my allowance by 289.5 calories and last night was over by 259 and we haven't shopped for groceries yet. ;)

I'm 33, won't be 34 unitl May.

I got my choco. carmel pecan milk. . .Now. . . I used my blender on "blend" to mix it and it came out tasting a little powdery, so I'm going to try it on whip next time and see if it blends better. But though powder it was good. . . I don't think I'd recommend it if it can't be blended better. You do taste the carmel and pecan in there. I used 2% milk instead of water too, so perhaps that would effect the powdery taste. I'll try the chocolate milk one later tonight.

Either way. . . I only have to drink 2 of these things instead of 3 1/2 of the other stuff, so that is a plus.

I love pizza. . .Yummmmmm... will be eating the toppings of pizza for the next year.

I never used anything but water and ice to blend mine, so I don't have experience with using milk.

I use 3/4 ice cubes and 1/4 water in the blender on high until smooth... 2 to 3 minutes max...

Some are just kinda grainy that way and it is trial and error to find the best flavors. I sometimes use the less smooth flavors just for the variety and my favorite smooth flavors are Mocha Joe, but I know you don't care for coffee flavors, Cookies and Cream and Chocolate...

Dang... I didn't realize that you are such a kid! ;)

I turned 51 in October, so if I can loose weight and still gain muscle mass it will be a breeze for you darlin...

I'll include a current pic and one that is almost a year old so you can see the difference.

Remember everthing is relative and we didn't get to this point over night... It takes time and dedication...

Very nice pics.

I figured you about the age you mentioned. Which is a good thing, believe me. ;)

I'll try water and ice the next time and let you know how it goes. I'm determined to make something work, I don't want to change my Lit name to HairlessRedandFriendly. ;) :D

I'm "hairless by choice" because the dang things were jumping ship and I got tired of vacuuming my pillow...

I'm glad that it does reduce the amount of shakes and if they taste better even of a bit grainy, well that is still a plus.

Do you know if your physician has plans for some physical therapy or exercise program in your future or are you on your own in that department?

I'm on my own in that department, but I am rejoining the "Y" and they have personal trainers there. I figure to do this right and get as little excess skin then I want to work with someone and do it so I achieve the most I can. I don't want to be a weight lifting woman and have pecs the size of watermelons and hard apples for breasts... but to be toned will be nice.

I can't do anything besides walking until after 8 weeks. Then I can do weights, areobics, water areobics, etc. I love swimming, so I am soooooo looking forward to the pool.

Good...

We can share our goals and gains for a long time... :nana:

I need the structure of a set appointment and a trainer or I will never go to the gym and it is 5 minutes away!

I'm turning on the spa before I go because I know I'll be filled with lactic acid and I'm still sore from my evaluation on Wednesday...

A hot soak to open all the blood flow from the muscles and then a cold splash in the pool to pump everything out of the muscles...

I hate cold water, but it works. ;)

See you later Red... 3 cheers, hugs and kisses...

Is it conceited to start your own support thread? I don’t think so. I am starting this one because I think I’ll need it. On October 24th of this year, I’m undergoing Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery. I have pre test and a pre op class on the 9th and 10th.

This isn’t a decision that I just woke up to one day and decided on. I spent over 5 years researching it and even now as the day closes in on me, I’m still learning things. I am ready though. I know it won’t be easy, but I know for me to live to see my kids marry and have kids, I am going to have to do something drastic.

I’ve done the diets, the working out, the structured programs since I was 18. I’m now 33 and a mother of three and my life is slowly coming to an end every day I maintain this weight I have placed on my heart.

There are so many things I want to experience, but where I am at now, it isn’t going to happen. This isn’t for vanity reasons. . . I want to walk up hills and take trails with the kids on vacation. I want to sit in a seat at the doctor’s office and not feel worried that this will be the first time I get stuck. I want to walk around and not feel the shooting pain in my back or the ache in my knees. I don’t want to worry that I embarrass my children. I don't want to gasp for breath any more unless its because I orgasmed. . .;) I don't want to fear that when my pulse races faster than normal, I'm not going to have a heartattack. . .I just want to live longer.

I know there is a woman inside me begging to be let loose and my health is in jeopardy, so this woman may never escape if I don't step away from the plate. I’m realistic. My troubles will not float away as the pounds drop. . . I know this. I know I’ll still suffer from the need to keep everyone happy and to make everything okay, but now. . . I have something to help me when I feel this way. . .my friends here at Lit. So this is why I have started my own support thread.

Ask me any question you want, but one. . .How much I weigh. . . LOL... I don’t even know that and don’t want to!!! I won’t even guess, though they'll tell me on the 9th. . .DAMN!!! Grrrrr.

I will tell you this. . .

My surgeon told me. . .for every 100 pounds a person is overweight you lose 20 years of your life. . .folks. . . I want my years back! :D

If you've had this surgery and want to share your story or offer advice, please do so! I am not alone in this journey.

Im sending you all my prayers and hugs and kisses I hope that all went well and that your recovering now. I know what you mean sweetheart. hugs kisses

Hello Red

Are you able to eat meat yet? If you are, you should get a Forman grill. It helps to cook the best favored meat and keeps the grease out of the food.

I get to have meat on the 24th of Nov. :D :D :D I'm looking forward to some textured food, because mushy, pureed and soupy are getting old. ;)

I'll look into buying one. I just picked up a great food processor this morning.

How WONDERFUL to see you!!!

Thank you BB. I am doing very well and looking forward to a new lease on life. Already there are changes. . .I love them. :D

What has changed. . .

Okay. . .on Monday I'm going to be seeing the surgeon, the first time since the surgery. I am as of last Monday 32 lbs lighter than when I walked into the hospital.

What things have changed for me. . .

1. I went down a pant size and 2 panty sizes. :nana:
2. I lowered the steering wheel on the van and it doesn't rub my belly when I drive.
3. I slid into the booth seat at the restaurant we had breakfast at this morning. :D
4. I fit in the chairs the waiting customers sit in at the hair salon. :catroar:
5. My fingers are slimmer, because my wedding band comes off easier. . .but don't worry I put it back on right away. ;)
6. I can walk up and down the steps to my house without holding onto the banister to pull myself up. :nana:
7. I can reach my feet to tie my tennis shoes. :)
8. I am sleeping easier now that the fat in my neck is slimming down.
9. I have cheek bones!!!! :nana:
10. I only have ONE chin!!!! :nana:

this is all wonderful things.
with the pants, I used a belt to make them fit.

With the skirts that had elastic, I opened up on side and slide new elastic in that I could tie off tighter and tighter with the lose. It was easy to do that since all my skirts were full. When I was down about 3 sizes, I started to invest in new clothes.

Thanks. :D

I won't do any serious investing until later too, though I do have to buy a new dress for the Company Christmas party that takes place in a couple weeks. That'll be nice. I'm holding out to a few days before, so I can get a smaller size then too. lol. :D

Feels good doesn't red!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm down to a 16 now.......the hardest thing for me is to stay away from the sweets :), it's a pain in the ass that I don't dump on that stuff like i wanted to.

Glad you're doing good

I asked my trainer about the hot water helping to reduce muscle pain and he insisted that cold water first was the key...

Reduce the muscle inflamation, like using ice on a bruse....

College kids!

My legs were hurting before I left the parking lot... I started with a hot shower then truned it as cool as I could stand and let it pour over my legs.

After dinner I was so tight and sore that doing a complete squat caused me to use words that I haven't used since my days in the U.S. Navy!!!

An hour in the spa at 101 degrees and I can squat with very little discomfort...

Keep a log Red... Document those changes and dates...

When weakness befalls you and temptation is stronger than your will break out the log and remember how far you have come...

Sweet sexy dreams dear Red...
