Congratulations, Red!! I'm so happy for you, dear.........keep up the good work, okay? :nana:

 Blue_

:rose: Sending you lots of warm wishes for a speedy recovery.....Congrats on the weight loss :rose:

hugs and kisses and thoughts for more good healing days

:rose:

Thanks all of you. :) :) I hope you folks are having a good day. :) I'm bored to death!!!!! The urge to write was fleeting last night, but I did get a story finished that I had started before surgery, so that is a good thing. I hope the urge comes back soon. . . I'll have to go back to cross-stitching if it doesn't. ;)

I'm printing out some daily food journal sheets and exercise logs to keep track of my progress. . .I do enjoy forms and stuff. :D

I also got the first statement about the actual surgery. . . My insurance is covering the surgery 100 %, but the first bill sent to them is around $35,000.00 and that is just from the hospital. *thank goodness for Insurance* :D :nana:

I can sure understand the boredom Red... :rose:  :rose:

We all need to improvise, adapt and overcome...

It is just temporary and as you continue to improve and loose weight you will regain activities that you haven't enjoyed for years. :nana: :D :nana:

Congrats on your choice, and progress. I think it's fantastic, and you're very brave. :rose:

Yeap, $35,000 and like I said that was just the hospital. I haven't gotten the anethesiologist bill or lab work or anything like that. . . Thanks to the cyst I had in Sept., I met the yearly deductible for individual and family this year, so until midnight Dec. 31 all our medical bills are now covered 100% by Insurance including the surgery.

Thank you MsBug. :rose: Lovely avatar too. :) My mom called me brave too. . . she has been just as supportive as everyone else, but to hear her call me brave was something I just hadn't ever thought to hear. . . It is amazing to hear words one never associates with themselves being used. . . brave is one of those words. :rose:

Hi Gorgeous Red,

I've been following your thread for a while but didn't really have anything important to say. I hope you're doing well and mending well. I just have to add (though I'm not sure it counts as anything important) that protein shakes are disgusting! I completely agree. As are protein bars.

Take Care,
Pearl

Hey there lovely Pearl. :) :rose:

Just poppin' in and say "Hi" is important. :D :D

I did find a replacement for the Calcium Citrate chews, they sell Calcium Citrate pills. . . :nana: granted, I have to cut them in half before I take them. . .BUT. . . the protein shakes. . .*shivers* I could do without those. lol. . .But I won't. *sigh* I haven't tried the bars yet, but they don't look appetizing. lol

Hi, lovely Red...

It sounds like your 'rehab' is coming along nicely, and I'm very glad, as you know...

I look forward to seeing that next chapter of Horatio, when you feel up to it (hopefully, not before the end of the month, and I'm free of the clutches of NaNoWriMo, tho!) :D

Take care, my always lovely friend..,

What brand are you drinking?

I was drinking Muscle Milk protein shakes and really loved the chocolate and the cookies and cream...

I would even mix a scoop of each and add a dollop of peanut butter and it was like drinking a chocolate chip peanut butter cookie. :)

I have a hard time imagining writing more than a few stories in a lifetime any more. . .the desire to write is slim right now. Not sure if they removed my writing ability while I was under or not. . .:(

Thanks for visting today though. I have one sore muscle spot that really irks still. It is a place where they used something on me during surgery which left a bruise the size of a baseball and that spot has just had an awful time healing, the bruise looks horrible. :(

ProZero. . .I have never heard of Muscle Milk.

I can't have peanut butter, but I'd try some Muscle Milk if I had it in my area. I have made a few shakes on my own. Milk, Dry Milk, Banana's and Yogurt, as well as 4 ice cubes. They aren't too bad, but I have to have 65 gr. a day for the first 6 weeks of this surgery and then I can cut it back to 32.

Around 5 mths post op, the loss of hair can affect people, protein helps with hair growth, so it is very important that I get the protein in.

I'd have to be. . .RedlessHairandFriendly

LOL...

And we can't have that now can we! ;)

Muscle Milk was recommended by a personal trainer when I began loosing weight during my work outs... You can purchase it on line but if you have an expert I would check with him/her before placing an order.

It is used by many body builders and very tasty too...

I just add equal parts of water and ice and two scoops in a blender...

Comes out almost like a shake. :)

I don't have an expert. We are just told to find something we like and drink it. lol.

I'll look into trying it. I have the hardest time with these protein things. I'm thrilled I found the calcium citrate pills. Though even with cutting them in half they are too big, so I have to crush them and put them in my food. I take 3 of them a day, 1500 mg. worth.

There are only a couple I would recommend because some are very gritty. Mocha Joe has a great coffee flavor that also mixes well with the chocolet and the cookies and cream are my favorites.

I was drinking three to four per day along with my regular meals...
