I'm doing a lot of laundry and housework. I hate coming home from a vacation with a bunch of housework waiting for me. So I do all of it before I go, plus it means I have a full closet to rummage through for packing.

I'm the same way. I'm cleaning and doing laundry, etc. to get ready for my trip on Thursday. Fun, fun, fun. lol

School isn't out for us. I have one more day, then a little trip, then back to work for some summer workshops. Going to the beach in August, though....yay me!

The students' last day was Friday. We have to go until tomorrow.

You know we understand each other's ramblings.....lol

We're taking our Brownie troop to TN for a few days....Dollywood and such.

Dollywood, never been there, yet my little sister has. She was a HUGE Dolly fan when she was a young'n. Gosh how she loved that lady. Wrote to her and got a signed autograph picture back. lol

It's a nice place to visit. The girls should like it. There's plenty to keep them entertained. After I give everyone their tickets for Dollywood and the Aquarium....they are all on their own. lol This is my last year with Brownies.

I did seven years with the scouts... Daisies, Brownies, and then we had various levels of Girl Scouts. It was fun, but I was happy when it was over. Our troop disbanded a couple years ago.

It's been hard with some of the personal stuff I've been going through. If I can't do it right, I really don't want to do it. The girls have had a great run, they're moving on to the next level....so its a good time to say good-bye. Bittersweet.

I had to threaten one parent with the old... If you continue to be excessively late your child will need to be picked up at the Police Station. *sigh* That was the council policy, not mine. Just glad I never did it. But damn I wanted to a few times. But I'm not that mean to the kids.

We utilized the after school program in our school. If our parents didn't show up, we just sent them on to tutoring class. Oddly enough....many parents started showing up on time once their kids started complaining.

I had one that dropped her kid off and knew we were done in one hour... she didn't show up and her daughter told me she was going to visit her son (the daughter's brother) over at the correctional facility for teens. That is over 3 hours away from where we were!!!! I was HOT!!! The girl came home with me and her mom showed up, but sent her young son to my door to pick her up, she stayed in the van. That next week she had a note to sign that told her I'd drop that kid off at the cops next time!!! *growls*

The girl was a great scout though. One of the best I had, very energetic and willing to help out, then again she was practically raising her siblings.

As a parent, I work hard to make sure I'm where I need to be as a parent picking up my kids.

That's because you're responsible. I don't get to work with very many parents like you. Quite honestly, its shocking to me. My parents were very responsible and all around good parents. I thought the majority of people were like that until I started teaching.

I learned quick who were my "good" parents and who were my "difficult" ones. lol

Mine were responsible too. I never had to worry about them not being there and if they thought they'd be late they let me know before dropping me off.

I must confess....kind of selfishly, I suppose.....it will be nice to have a little more time for myself right now.

The thing I like the most about no longer doing it is the time I have that I can spend on anything rather than always seeming to be doing planning for the next meeting, or fundraiser, or field trip, or tackling paperwork, keeping track of badge requirements, planning reward ceremonies, or handling the funds so the girls had money for summer plans. I don't miss those headaches at all.
