I'm not sure any of you have heard of the website AnySoldier.com but I was told of it a couple weeks ago and have been a supporter ever since.
As a former Army medic, I've enlisted help and am busy sending packages to a squad of medics who are serving in Iraq until Oct of 2006 who has recently arrived.
These are mostly single males and females who have very little support from others. At this time they have no microwave, which I've already got a friend ready to send them one.
This is a squad of medics far away from home. They need personal hygiene items, snacks and entertainment. Footballs, beef jerky, games, magazines and personal hygiene items for males and females are needed.
If you'd like to help please let me know. Just send me a message and I'll give you the squads address and the contact medic to send the items to. I'll also give a list of what they need.
My family and I have adopted this squad and would like to make their tour in hell as nice as we can. Anything they can't use, they'll pass on to other members of their unit. The unit is HHT 2-17 Cav.
The main request is for letters of support. That is only the cost of a stamp and time to write a letter.
These are medics. They risk their lives everyday to save others. I am hoping that many of the authors here would be willing to write a letter of support or send a Christmas card to make them smile.
If you wish to send a package, message me and I'll give you a list of what is requested from the squad.

Thanks everyone,

LDW

I would like to thank Cloudy, Dr. Mab for their commitment to helping out with the medics.
Dr. Mab and I have struggled over points for the last couple of years. Cloudy has always been a friend as Dr. Mab is.
This is about supporting medics. It's not about the war. You can believe in the war or not. I really don't care.
I've got a squad of medics, male and female, who is outside Balad. Most are single and they don't have family support. For many of them, this is the first time away from home.
All I'm asking is send them a letter of support or a Christmas card. If you have a few bucks to spare. Then I can give you a list of what they need and would like.
Beef Jerky, twin sheets, panty liners, magazines, peanuts, hot chocolate. Imagine yourself faraway. Fighting for something you believed in or not. These medics are doing their duty. Some will die going out to save others. That's what being a medic is.
I know, I was a medic. That's why I'm passionate about this. To have Dr Mab and Cloudy helping out means the world to me.
Updates on the unit I give at Lord_dragonswing@comcast.net

I just thought I'd bump this up to continue the support for the medics.
It doesn't matter if we're rep or dem. This is about helping kids who are at war.

Just want to commend your effort.

Bump

and for others like me who just don't know what to do and don't want to risk spacing doing -something- with the holiday rush approaching. I just did the order process and it took all of maybe 5 minutes to have something heading over there for someone.

Here's an update for those of you who are supporting the medics and not on the weekly email updates.
I've got a package going out Saturday full of candy and christmas cards for the squad. If you wish to send cards of thanks and greetings for Christmas, please do so soon. Look at a month shipping time.
If you're worried about cost. The Postal Service has a set rate shipping box for 7.95. In other words, no matter how many lbs, it's only 7.95 to ship. We've had as much as 16 lbs in a package. Remember you have to fill out the customs forms and follow the rules of Islam. No pork or pork products, no religious items, no firearms or weapons, no adult material and no home baked items.
If you wish to join the email list of supporters email me at Lord_DragonsWing@comcast.net to be added.
I try to answer everyones questions and help us all support the medics. No monetary donations are accepted. I'll give you the address of the medics and you may send what is needed.
We've got a microwave on the way for the squad along with some personal hygiene items.
I've been asked why I choose this particular squad. I was a medic in the Army. I'll always support the medics. They are the medical specialist and will risk their lives saving others. This is only one squad, I wish I could help them all out.

If you don't wish to help out the medics but wish to help other units out. Visit www.anysoldier.com to chose your unit. Remember, no soldier wants war. But while they're there, let's support them. Try living in the desert without laundry soap and toothpaste.

Thank all of you who are helping out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike
