superman is dead.

Damn.

Not only have we lost a good actor, but a committed activist for a worthy cause. I can but hope that others will carry on his legacy.

I was talking to my teenager about him today. And the Superman reruns are showing on one of our tv stations.

Smallville is one of my sons fav programs at the mo.

RIP. :rose: Thanks for being a good guy and a hero in the movies and in your life.

Ty for the cool front page tribute Laurel and Manu. It's really cool.

funny, i had no hope for him. that's why i liked him. in the face of a truly hopeless situiation, he never gave up. man do i need to change my life.

I think deep down we all knew he wasn't going to be able to walk again... but to see him not give up and still keep on fighting the fight was pretty moving. He was literally one guy who kept his life moving forward even though he was struck downwith something pretty horrible.

As much as he tryed to 'escape the cape' after the movies, he was the Superman we know. It is like having an immortal die. An icon which has given people hope from WWII to 9/11.

While now may not be the time, I hope they find a story worthy of theatrical release so all who have been Superman will feel alive again for we who remember them.

My Dad and brothers LOVED Superman and all the Superman movies. I have memories of sitting in between my two brothers, watching those movies, and never fighting for those couple of hours. It was our "boy time", even though I was a girl I was permitted.

Christopher Reeve was admirable for his deligent work regarding spinal cord injuries and his plea for stem cell research. He will be missed.

RIP :rose:

There is a lot of sadness in family today for a much respected person who really inspried a lot of people. It's going to be hard to see my son wear his Superman pajamas again tonight.

I posted this link once before but it seems very fitting to do it again.

I so agree with you LE....
he was truly an amazing man to the very end.

It is hard for me to put in words what kind of shit Christopher and the character of Superman helped me get through as a kid. Rest well Christopher. I hope you are no longer suffering. Thank you so very much for what you gave me. You will never know how many people you touched.

Amen

That totally sucks! Very sad.

I will never ride a horse again.................

My favorite Christopher Reeve moment:
In the original Superman movie there is a scene where Lois is showing Clark around the Daily Planet office on his first day. She is treating him like a nothing. He is acting clumsy and nerdy. At one point, he bumps into her as they pass a desk.
Get the DVD and watch it in slow mo. As he passes her, he drops his hand and gives her pussy a full grope. No accident. He grabs a happy handful. You can't see it at full speed, but in slo mo it is clear as a bell.
Now that's a super man!
