No I'm not going but it's because I'm not a sports fan at all. If they cancelled the Super Bowl on accord of the players being bored my response would be "So we get the commercials without intteruption this year? AWESOME!"

Yes it is easy to be optimstic from a distance but that doesn't change the fact that we're talking 49 Super Bowls without incident, 14 since 9/11 without even attempt (that we're aware of). The same goes for every other major sporting event in the US. No mall strikes on Black Friday which would be laughably easy in many places. You wouldn't even have to suicide bomb, you could drive by a Best Buy on Thanksgiving when traffic is minimal and get a decent amount of victims.

The reality is terrorists average about 3 dead Americans per year. So it's less about optimism telling me that this place is safe and more math telling me that the Continential United States is safe.
