Summer goals

My goal is be ready for the storm.

I was standing in an ATM drivethru when a woman in an SUV begged for insulin money. That seemed ridiculous. I was on foot and she had enough money to buy gas. My truck was parked next door where I was planning to shop because idling in a drivethru would be a waste of gas, but I didn't have cash before using the ATM. And then the ATM was empty, so I still didn't have cash later when I saw her standing next to her SUV on a street, because her tank was empty. She didn't have a portable gas container to take to a gas station or money to fill it, plus her blood sugar situation to make that a very bad day for her. That type of situation is becoming more common as more people fall or are kicked down the economic ladder. I may have a situation like that if inflation goes far beyond my income and savings. But that occasion reminded me to put a container in my truck.

Always be ready, my friend. I’ve seen it myself, with my parents and other family members. Money can be a bitch when she ain’t around.

This is a great thread.

1. Have as much fun as possible!
2. Keep my garden looking nice and weed free.
3. Swim as often as possible.
I need advice in #2. I’m trying to not break the bank with weed killers this year. Plus they never seem to do much. Any ideas?

- Learn Spanish
- Visit a new country
- Swim/swim/swim
I fail #3 all day every day. Growing up in a shitty neighborhood always gave you access to the public pool. I went there once with my friend, Julio and his dad - and we saw a grown ass boy take a shit or what seemed like the beginnings of a shit in the pool before he was pulled out by his mother. It wasn’t his fault - it was hot out and he was severely autistic and his mom though it would be nice for him to be in a cool pool.

The incident was bad enough that neither me nor Julio ever swam or went to a pool. It sucked ass because it’s expected that you know how to swim as a boy.

For those privileged motherfuckers who always wondered why men of color don’t swim, maybe now you know! 🤣

- Practice my guitar
- exercise more (I’ve kind of given up on losing weight. It comes off, I gain it back, my body just likes 235?)
- Practice guitar
- cultivate my new relationships I’ve made
- Practice my guitar

I’m not ready to give up losing weight. But I totally get what you’re saying about your body preferring a set point.

I hate fad diets, but a couple three years ago I did the intermittent fasting type thing. Minimal exercise, although I was doing some, I was able to dip into the mid 220’s. Then the holidays came around and it’s all out the window. Back to 235!😂.

I’d love to get to 220. That would be attainable, sustainable (assuming I work at it) but anything beyond that would take a Herculean effort that isn’t realistic with my job.

IF works but there is definitely a burnout phase with all of the “diets”. (Remember the 4 hour body? It fucking worked. But it also brings me out). Im slowly learning that there is no easy way around it.

For most of us, spring is upon us, and the lazy warm days of summer are beckoning. I figured why not start a thread asking what your 3 goals are this summer. Here are mine:

I want to:

1) Spend more time with my son
2) Lose 15 lbs, and
3) Meet positive people and learn from them

Mine may seem very vanilla. Maybe yours aren’t. I’d love to hear them anyway :)
My wife and I have shared targets.
1: Play more sport
2: Lose more weight
3: Have more sex
4: Make more time for each other
5: Be happy and healthy
6: Have more sex

We are both now 70 and closing down various business commitments to make more time for all of the above, especially 3 and 6.

Congrats Kent. It’s always good to have a spouse who supports all of your goals :)

Thanks, Nicefella. i love the way that sex evolves as you get older. Fortunately, we both fancy each other like crazy. I won't take all the credit but she has more orgasms now than ever before!

ok! I just saw this thread…
1. get a really good flow/choreography for my pole dance class. I’d like it to be simple, slow and erotic. For ME.
2. be open to expanding My business without stressing about it
3. work on my tan. Glorious color gain slow, even and safe.

As big a waste of time as New Year's Day resolution.

One day at a time baybee, one project at a time and each day has the potential of a new challenge like the tree that fell across the driveway last month.

Good luck with all of the above, especially the pole dancing.
I've been busy in the garden this year, so the tan has come naturally.

I love it. I’d like to watch the tan and the pole dance :)
