Stuff

I'm sorry, but I think I've read the line about m&ms three times and each time it has really made me laugh out loud (a fourth while typing this).

Also, it took me WAY too long to find the flipping ampersand- one might start to think I'm intoxicated or seriously sleep deprived (it's the latter).
sleep deprivation's crazy head stuff. careful if you have to drive :rose:
Oh...oh...oh...

My daughter just made me a box covered with Hobbit art from the books...

https://donnaroyston.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/bilbo-on-barrel-small.jpg

This is also the woman who made a me a cross stitch this Christmas...

It's a chainsaw with the word "Groovy" - from Army of Darkness.

I  her so much.
that is awesome. truly.

Oooh, and she got me an autographed copy of Nomad by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

My cup she runneth over and such.

I don't know...you're getting kind of spoiled with all this happiness ;)

That was the original art, it's on my entirely beaten up copies that don't fit in the box any more because I read them to death.

hobbit-related (kinda sorta)

some guy's created a range of hobbit-styled cabins on his land for those out trekking/glomping - prettier and more comfortable than tents, and wth wood-burning stoves :) can't find the images online but just saw something about them on tv... wooden chalets with greened roofs, rounded walls and round doors. so cute

I wanna go!!!!! (Mad Googling now....)

You know...I spent years and years in chronic pain, and now I'm actually...happy?

There's this sort of survivor's guilt I've got going here, but yeah, happy.

"Oh hell, I have no constant pain cred any more...I can't even sympathize properly...nobody's going to believe I can sympathize..."

was it your birthday? if so, many happy returns, reci :rose::rose::rose::rose:

Not my birthday, though yeah, she did forget my birthday so maybe...she's got stuff going on. Just accumulated tokens since she last saw me and the book is from a librarian's conference.

She knows I love the author, so she waited in line for me.

If I were to make it to England, I know I'd want to go to Tolkien's and his wife's graves...Beren and Luthien.

Oh crap, gonna cry...

Those are adorable.

It's only a Hobbit house if it's underground and has a round door though.

"Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort."

'nobody' can go stuff 'emselves. happy's good.

it's a thing :)before i met H, i'd have happily lived in a hobbit hole on my own for the rest of my days :D

they're not the ones i saw but still appealing. these were separate, rounded wooden chalets, but it was the proper round doors that got to me the most.

Oh, I'm becoming quite smitten myself recently - A while back he sent me a song he thought I'd like based on the "What are You Listening to Now" thread I post in a lot. I don't think a night has gone by since we haven't talked about three hours a night (at least) and that doesn't include the countless email interchanges throughout the day....

Totally was not supposed to happen, and not HERE of all places.

Oh, there is so much crying in Hobbit world.

So much.

I have to admit I have not read the Hobbit since probably the 6th grade but I think I must read it again as an adult - because honestly I like our randomly weird conversations we have ;)

About once a year I read the Silmarillion, Hobbit and then the Trilogy.

Now I listen to them in audio, which took some doing, because the Silmarillion isn't licensed for audio (thank God Peter Jackson can't ruin it...) and the family kept the rights.

So yeah, I'm a little attached.

The Silmarillion is my favorite for the depth of lore, the Hobbit my favorite because it's sweet and funny and intended as a story for his son, and the Trilogy is just cool 'cause story.

I read the Trilogy as an adult and said I'd read the Hobbit after that but it didn't happen - I don't know if I started reading it and life got in the way or what. Hmmm... darn that stupid life stuff. I need to marry rich so I can lie around and just read all day (after cleaning and cooking, of course).

Sorry, dirty mind for a moment

Yeah, I'm pretty much doing what I'd do if I had loads of money. READ.

Read and play video games. I am a reasonably cheap date and after the Kindle came out, I got cheaper.

I do believe that I should be independently rich and have superpowers and the fact that those do not exist proves there is no God.

everyone should have a hobbithole at the bottom of the garden - for kids, for fun, and it beats the shit out of a granny flat!
