Story comments not appearing?

On a story that was just published late yesterday, my profile states that three people have commented, about two hours ago, but when I go to the story itself, there are zero comments. Is there any kind of delay sometimes as data propagates through the system? Or did they all probably just coincidentally comment and then delete their comments at around the same time?

I've noticed that when I post a comment, it can take more than five hours to show on the story.

I think there's a delay for the admins to review the comments. But, when you click post on the comment, the web site counters are adding the number.

Sometimes you can view comments from your author dashboard where they have not yet appeared on the actual story.

Yeah, it can take awhile for them to actually show up, even after notification.

The number of votes you get depending on the category is all over the place... Is Anal really THAT much popular than Fetish? Or even Toys? I would have thought otherwise, considering how many different things go under Fetish, but maybe I'm out of my mind?

You need to stroll through each category to understand its traffic. But to answer your question, there are four times as many fetish stories as there are anal, so on face value, anal is less popular by an order of magnitude. But there are more anal stories than toys stories, so more popular there, by comparison.

But that's just story counts. You then need to go look at typical view volumes, which I didn't do - but high traffic generally follows where the stories are.

More a function of how old the story is.

I’ve learnt to try to ignore most stats here as a lot of it seems predicted on stuff you can’t control.

But you are also then competing against all the other stories.

My worst performing fetish story never even appeared on the first page of New Stories let alone towards the top, there were that many new ones published the same day. I can’t imagine many people pressing the more stories button to find little old me.

Yes, that's the downside of writing in the most popular categories. Your time in the sun is much shorter, you fall off the first page like you fall off a cliff.

I’m used to that. I never even made it to the first page on that occasion!

FYI, an order of magnitude in our numbering system means ten times less or ten times greater. ;)

I have tons of followers. My stories get scooted off the front page pretty quickly as well. Since they changed the format my readership on a new story has been cut in half and those are significant numbers. From 90k to 40k. Had made me feel less like writing.

As far i know. They’re just in order of how they’re posted. i don’t think scores or views come into play. PS. Love your bio.

The thing about scores early on in a stories life is the bombers who hit you just to take you off any and all lists quickly. I have two to four bombers who hits every story I post as soon as they can to knock it below the 4.5 level. That cuts view drastically.

Not complaining as I don't really care. This is my fun place to write. I'm just pointing out the facts.

I think I get that too. It’s starts out OK then the legs are cut from under any OK rating story.

Yes, I had a similar delay a couple of days ago. They eventually showed up--but on my "works" page before anywhere else.
