Africa has geographical challenges that have long hindered social technology, beyond the shit legacy of colonial exploitation.

Basically I'm saying that sub Saharan Africans are just as capable as any other members of H. Sapiens, but the social technologies, thus the cultures, have had a very different evolutionary track which does not lend itself to equivalent outcomes.

I looked it up because I had no idea but apparently it's a technicality but elephants have never actually been domesticated. Tamed and trained, yes but not actually domesticated. That requires breeding that results in what is essentially a different elephant.

There is some debate on the term "domestication" for animals. For flora it's easy.

Elephants, like dogs, are highly social mammals. Like dogs, elephants are pretty damn smart. Unlike dogs, elephants are fucking huge compared to humans, and I'm pretty certain elephants understand this. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure elephants understand that humans are nasty little apes which have little issue exterminating a non-human that becomes a threat.

Dogs are smaller, but they also have been interacting with humans longer than any other species. The two have had a long history of interactive symbiosis.

There hasn't been the millennia of social development in sub saharan Africa. The advance beyond tribal/ethnic conflict is not an indigenous phenomena. Now, toss in the landscape still doesn't easily lend itself to cheap transportation networks or sedentary agriculture, is not only HUGE, but diverse, then add the fact that the current national boundaries have nothing to do with the on-the-ground tribal/ethnic reality, then realize that the indigenous institutions are not and were not indigenous but imposed by colonial administrations, and voila, you have a perfect shit-storm of fucked-beyond-comprehension.

Now compare that to either China, which has had strong cultural and governmental traditions extending back millennia, two navigable river systems, large areas of sedentary agriculture, and not having been a former European colony, or even Korea, which at least has internal ethnic similarities if not homogeneity, not to mention being strongly influenced by neighboring China, or having its social/technical/governing systems accelerated by being on the frontline of the Cold War, as well as being a comparatively small space (South Korea is about the same size as Indiana), and you can see both China and Korea, though having their own sets of internal issues, do not have the same geographical challenges as does most of Africa.
