State of the Union Address Thread

Here's a cringe worthy video released by the President asking for guidance from people who have played President on how to proceed with the SOTU speech.
Please tell us you don't actually believe he asked well-known actors for help on the speech.

This is you we're talking about. The lack of cognitive dissonance to separate entertainment from reality is entirely plausible.

🇺🇸

President Biden has to reinforce the idea that the Democratic Party is the "Big Tent" that welcomes and is responsive to all the constituents in its varied coalitions / caucuses. (From progressives to moderates)

President Biden will do that ^.

• An emphasis on welcoming Nikki Haley voters (and other "republicans” who are disillusioned and disgusted by what their party has become) into the Democratic Party will be key, imho: Pointing to the BIPARTISAN economic and compensatory legislation that WAS passed, AND the BIPARTISAN legislation for national security and the border that WASN’T passed, due to the corrupt orange traitor sabotaging it, will be paramount.

• A heavy focus on the "republicans" stripping of women’s rights, and this administrations efforts to fight back, will definitely be a prominent talking point that could sway some "republican" and "independent" voters to join the cause.

• Keeping with the "big tent" theme, President Biden will likely highlight his administration’s efforts to get a ceasefire and humanitarian relief for TRULY innocent Gazans, while simultaneously keeping pressure on the Hamas animals to return the hostages and cede control of Gaza to Palestinians interested in peace by continuing to support Israel militarily and otherwise. (Ironically, humanitarian aid for Gazans and military support for Israel was in the BIPARTISAN bill that the corrupt orange traitor sabotaged).

• Of course, inflation will be a major focus as well, with President Biden expected to call out corporations and billionaires for price gouging and not contributing their fair share. I expect the housing sector to be a point of emphasis as well. - President Biden WILL point to increasing wages and employment numbers as evidence that his administrations policies have been effective on many levels - I would imagine the favorable comparison of inflation, jobs , and wages in America vs other major world economies will also be highlighted.

• Most important of all, President Biden will definitely do his damnedest to present himself as fiery and energetic, with plenty left in the tank to build / expand on the progress and accomplishments that he achieved in his first term, while also projecting confidence and positivity about America and its future as the economic, diplomatic, and military leader of the free world. (In sharp contrast to the corrupt orange traitor’s dystopian vision of / for America.

President Biden will have a successful state of the union because, to a large degree, he has been successful.

Anyone who isn’t blinded by radical right wing or left wing hate would most likely agree.

No.

I wish I had a more in-depth answer.

He's been in seclusion trying to prep and fingers are crossed that he doesn't have a debilitating senior moment.

Sans that moment, it will loudly be proclaimed as a tour de force, a masterpiece of statecraft and oratory and the Emperor's New Speech will be met with effusive and appreciative press reviews and voices otherwise will be simply labeled as "Orange Man Bad" deplorables and haters of a new, better, more Progressive nation.
Point out on this doll where the old man hurt you.

These silly talking points haven’t helped Biden’s approval ratings or position in the polls so far.
Something has helped, as he has gained ground in the polls. The longer answer to your point, though, is that the campaign has not started in earnest and most people aren't paying much attention. Trump's supporters are already engaged because it's a cult and they're always engaged.

And lest we forget, Pelosi only ripped up the speech after Trump pointedly refused to shake her hand. We could also mention Boebert and Greene heckling Biden two years ago.

Obama O'Biden administration? "O'Biden" was Sarah Palin's gaffe (that's why she asked if she could call him Joe at their VP debate - no matter how hard they tried, her handlers couldn't get her to pronounce Biden correctly!). Your colors are showing.

I'll read the transcript as I always do. The theatrics are just that, theatrics. Besides, every brain fart that Biden has tonight will be available on YouTube tomorrow.

I'll be watching for Pelosi's antics, bouncing up and down out of her seat on Biden's every lie like a rusty old pogo stick. If she jumps too hard she'll break her botox laden face. :D:eek:

Doubt the president’s granddaughter Navy and her mom are among the invited guests. That should make some folks on the PB board more comfortable.

Maybe we’ll be treated to a ceremonial ripping up of SOTU speech by the speaker. I’d pay to see that.

But that won’t happen, pubs have too much respect for the office.
They absolutely do not.

Because every time there’s a Republican president we hear paeans about how we all need to respect the office, he’s everyone’s president, etc…

But whenever there’s a Democratic president it’s constant barrages of vicious invective.

When I hear you holding off or toning down criticism of a president you genuinely dislike, I’ll maybe believe your protestation about what respect for the office you have.

When he does fuck up the Dems will probably give him a standing ovation. I wonder if Mike Johnson, in Pelosiesque fashion, might tear up his speech just to see the Dems and their media collectively shit their pants.
If Mike Johnson did that, Democrats wouldn’t really care. That Nancy Pelosi doing so clearly deeply bothered so many crotchety conservatives is an interesting phenomenon though.

Little Mike Johnson 😂

Maybe he’ll call on the Senate to swiftly send the bipartisan Laken Riley Act to his desk for signature. Just passed the House today with 37 Dems voting yes.
I find your newfound concern for Laken Riley somewhat amusing.
Whatever the Cause Du Jour you can find!
