Star Wars: Return of the Sith

Kerra Shiran

Just as gets ready to type again, the warning light flashed on her console. Someone is in the holding bay that shouldn't be. Kerra feels a tug from the force that answer her question to who is down there but not the why. She save her file then heads down there. As she gets closer to the doors she hears the sounds of blaster fire.

Rushing in, with blaster out & ready to fire, she sees Tholin finishing a strange excersise. Hot pieces of metal lie on the ground smoking around him. Tholin stands in the middle of the hold breathing heavily. He holds what looks like a double saber with blackish blades. Kerra feel his hold on the force released. She calmly holsters her blaster & speaks.

"Now if its a sparing match your looking for Dark Tholin. You should have come to me." She pulls 2 blades out of each boot. "Knives against saber or knife vs knife? It's your call." She walks toward him, blades away from him up against her forearms.

Dark Tholin?????????
She stands there with 2 knives, believing she is a threat. Using the force, I tickle her side, causing her to be distracted, then pull the knives out of her hands & throw them across the cargo bay.
" Knives are not the preferred weapon of a Jedi, nor is a blaster. As to sparring with me, you need a few more years practice before you are up to that."
I walk back over to my bag, & bring out a soft bronze colored cylinder, a lightsaber. I turn & toss it to her.
"Here, the one who weilded this against me lost it, so I will give it to you. That is the weapon of a Jedi. "Looking at her face I add " I did not kill her, just took her blade & told her to find a new master who was not so quick to attack a stranger. There is no blood on that blade by my hand."

Kerra Shiran

Tholin tosses her a bronze handled lightsaber. She catches it then turns the blade on. Holding it up right, Kerra admires the blue flawless blade. She listens to his words & examines the saber with the force. She senses his what said is true. Still connected to the force, she shrugs out of her jacket.

Turning the blade back on, testing its weight & blance in her hands. Kerra holds it how she would her knives. One hand on the handle & the other on the butt of the blade. "I might not be Jedi train but lets spare anyways. I could use the practice & the lesson." She motions with the hand on the butt for him to come at her.

"I might not be Jedi train but lets spare anyways. I could use the practice & the lesson." She motions with the hand on the butt for him to come at her.

This young one knows nothing about lightsabers. if I attack her, i'll knock the blade into her & hurt her.
" Well, your first lesson is on how to hold a lightsaber. If i attacked you know, most likely I would knock the blade back into you, seriously injuring you."
I turn my lightaber off, & clip it back on my belt, then walk over to her & take her hands in mine, & re-position them on the handle.
" Now, the most important thing is to use the Force to guide your hands, not your mind alone. The blade has no weight, & that can be deceptive." I back up & pick up some pieces of junk from the pile the droid bought in.
"Now, when these come at you, strike at them, slowly."
Using the Force, I move the items at her, waiting for her strike.

His experienced eyes pick out many parts that need replacing, seeing alot of work that has been jury rigged, although by someone fairly skilled.

"Work in progress eh? More like... overhaul immediately. This thing is a technical mess, a mechs nightmare," Orin mumbles as he looks over the bulky drive.

As if on cue in some sardonic play, a spark of electricty arcs from a coupling. Another spark, and they shield their faces as a spout of bluish-gray smoke quickly fills the chamber, followed by a mini explosion as more electrical sparks dance over the hyperdrive's main power capacitors. With a lurch, the entire ship groans and gives a shake as it unexpectedly crashes from hyperspace to sublight speeds. Mogo hurriedly tosses an anti electrical foamer to Orin, "Hurry, use this so nothing else is damaged!"

Orin presses the trigger on the foamer canister and spurts a healthy amount onto the affected area of the drive. Giving a sigh he looks over to Mogo with arched brows. "She isn't going to be happy about this. Looks like you picked me up just in time, heh. What a job this is gonna be..."

Mogo

"Oh, yes," I replied. "A big job...did I mention that, since you're the new mechanic, that it's your job now. Heh-heh. I'll be taking a nap, let me know if you have any trouble..."
I head into my chambers for a quick snooze.

Marius

"Daelon is tired...I haven't exactly been resting all afternoon," I boasted. I glanced over at Raine and Kelson, saw the look of disappointment on my Master's face, then quieted. "Ready when you are old friend," I explain to Daelon, settling my hands to my sides and waiting for a signal to begin.

"Nap," Orin says quietly. "A nap?!" he says louder, yelling after Mogo. "The hyperdrive just overloaded and dropped us to real space and I, for one, have no idea where we are, and you're going to take a nap?!"

Orin looks down the corridor, looks to the hyperdrive, then back to the corridor, frustrated, and moves back up to the main level to go to the cockpit to see what the Cap'n will have to say about this.

Mogo

I could hear Orin moving about outside my cabin as I try to sleep. Has he no brain, I wondered.
I got up and decided to head him off before he made the mistake of moaning to the boss on his first job onboard.
I caught up to him in no time. Wings have their advantages, it seemed.
"Look," I began. "I'll help you, but remember, Im doing you a favor here. The boss won't be happy if she has to babysit you through each of your responsibilities."
I followed him back to the Hy-perdrive, letting him do the dirty work while I offered advice. Why not get to know him better, I thought, then again, why not let him get to know me?
"Let's take advantage of this time to talk...I'll share a story with you to help pass the tiem, y'know, make the work move faster."
He showed no interest, which I took as a sign to continue...hey, who wouldn't be interested?
"I met this one Toydarian on a planet...I can't remember where...y'know, in the middle of nowhere. SHe had the prettiest pink wings..."

Kelson raised his eyebrow in a glance to Raine.

He is still filled with much pride.

Kerra Shiran

With her hands re-positioned, Kerra takes a few practice swipes. Getting a feel of what type of movement & compensation, she has to take from her normal fighters stance. *Hmmm ... I wonder if the blades can be modified to a shorter length, that would suit my fighting style more.* She has no more time to think about it. When Tholin sends the parts, picked up in Mos Eisley, at her.

Quickly turning off the saber, she dodges some of the larger pieces & grabs the smaller ones. "Hey! That's not junk you're sending at me. those are spare parts for the ship." The deck bucks & groans, she drops the parts on the ground. "Damn, the Owl's dropping from hyperspace. Mogo told me, he fixed it." Kerra bends down to pick up her jacket & uses the force to bring her knives into her hands. She runs to the cockpit & sees the sonsole lite up, like laser cannon fire hitting a ship.

She then tosses the bundle on the chair behind hers & flings herself into the pilot's seat. Kerra shuts down the auto pilot & hyperdrive computer, as the ship drops into normal space. "SHIT!" She makes a hard right to advoid crashing into a freighter. Using skill, luck & a little bit of the force, she gets the Owl to a safe flight path. *This is what I get for not double checking the work Mogo did last time.*

She grabs & puts on a headset, then flips the intercom switch. "What just happened down there? One minute I am getting a lightsaber lesson, the next I have to manuver the Owl from being splat on a freighter! Yeah, I know the hyperdrive crashed. Can you both get the drive repaired with the parts picked up on Tatooine? Closest port with possible parts we need is probabibly in Hutt space." She double checks the computer.

"Orin, make a list of ALL the parts you need to get the Owl's drives back in prime condition." She hears Mogo sputtering about not having enough credits. "Mogo, you worry about helping the mech fix the drive properly & let me worry about the credits. We got 3500 from Tholin & I have a bit put away for emergences like this. With luck there will be a major sabacc game somewhere that I can make a few more credits." A groan is heard from the other end. "Well it's that, pickpocketing or the fighters ring, which would you perfer me to do?"

Orin's face heated and reddened. "Favor?"

Damnit, he thought. All I wanted was to buy a seat on this thing to get me off planet, I never meant to be part of the freakin crew. Ah well, he sighed as he looked over the hyperdrive again. I'll stuff it for now, at least I'm not paying creds out nose for the ride.

After Mogo talked with the Cap'n he began working on the drive as the suddenly talkative alien pointed things out. After an hour or so a couple of the bad parts had been switched out with new, and Mogo was rambling on about some pink floozie on a backwater planet. At least he was keeping a list of what they needed. At this point, he'd know more about the parts they needed than Orin.

"Pretty wings eh? Give me a nice pair of tits," Orin gestured appropriately, "and a nice head of hair, and a sexy look in her eyes." Orin nodded once to confirm that this was so as he clucked his tongue, then turned back to his work.

Bailen, Ganor, and Viser

The red blade, nearly the color of blood hovered lightly before him. Ganor sat, looking at it carefully. His hands were under the blade itself, but he wasn't touching it, it was just above him. The saber was close to his hands, very close.
Bailen stared at him.
"You must find comfort in pain, let it feed you, let it envelope you."
Bailen pushed down on the sword. The force extended itself, letting Ganor's sword come down into his palm's. He could feel a slight stinging, his hands blistering up. The skin burning in on itself. Ganor cried out in pain, but didn't lose his hold.
He now was pushing on the sword with the force, keeping it from scorching his own hands. Tha pain throbbed in each palm, but he didn't let it overcome it. Instead, he used it to help wield the force.
With pain, came the dark side.
"Good, good."
Bailen turned off the blade, and walked out of the room. Ganor finally was able to breathe, as he held the turned off saber in his hand. A single tear fell down his cheek.
He would master it. One day.

Daelon

Daelon shot an annoyed glance at Kelson, before looking back at Marius. Why did he have to be pushed so hard, he wondered as he looked into Marius' face. The other was obviously in better condition than he was, and he was better with the force anyway. This was totally one sided, but Daelon could not admit his weakness to his friend.
"Alright, Marius. Let's go." he said. As he looked into those eyes, he began to focus, trying to lift himself up like he had done to Kelson before. He had done this trick a few times before today, and found it easier than lifting someone else, but still Marius managed to lift himself up before Daelon. Daelon concentrated harder, and finally he lifted off the ground and met Marius, the two of them three feet above the ground. Marius looked on patiently, obviously waiting for Daelon to make the first move.
"Alright, Daelon, concentrate." He thought, trying to motivate himself. "You're tired, more tired than he is, so your only chance is to get him down early. Looks like I'll have to go full offense." he thought, hoping his strategy would work. How he would manage to attack with all he's got and stay in the air, he did not know... hell, it was hard enough to stay afloat when he wasn't even moving...
"Now or never, Daelon." he thought, and finally he began his attack. He attacked with silent ferocity, saving his energy.
The two young men crashed into each other, grappling for a good hold on the other. Neither could get it, and when Daelon began to tire, he pushed Marius away and got out of the other apprentice's range.
Marius gave a challenging look at Daelon, before he moved in for his own attack.

Tholin Mod, Sith Warrior

As I move the parts tward her she deactivates her blade & grabs them, achieving much what I wanted by using the force to guide her, but not with the focus of a lightsaber. Then the ship lurches as it suddenly drops from hyperspace. The Captain says sonething about Mongo fixing something, calls her knives to her, & rushes off. I replace the parts back where they were & make my way up to the bridge. I can hear Kerra talking as I get near: "Mogo, you worry about helping the mech fix the drive properly & let me worry about the credits. We got 3500 from Tholin & I have a bit put away for emergences like this. With luck there will be a major sabacc game somewhere that I can make a few more credits." A groan is heard from the other end. "Well it's that, pickpocketing or the fighters ring, which would you perfer me to do?"

Fighters Ring? " Captain, what do you mean when you talk about the Fighters Ring? Is that some sort of bloodsport?"

A voice asks behind her as Kerra switches off the intercom. "Captain, what do you mean when you talk about the Fighters Ring? Is that some sort of bloodsport?" She smiles to herself. "That my friend is street-talk for arena. Depending on the match ... " She shrugs. "Some fight til first blood is drawn, other to the death, & me I fight for the prize. The only legal things in the ring are blades & your fist & feet. No blaster, no sabers, no jedi."

She turns to him for a minute. "Does that answer your questions? Call me Kerra. I ask you not do that in public, I do have a reputation to hold up." She winks at him at him then turns back to the console.

(to be continued ...)

Mogo

How much complaining can the woman possibly do?
"Look, I've done everything I can to fix this," i explained. "That's why I hired the mechanic in the first place. I am not an engineer, and the parts we need aren't being made any more. THis contraption is well beyond its years. That's why we got the damn thing so cheap, remember? We've already taken half of it out and rigged it to work on the wrong parts as it is!"
SHe was unreasonable, totally unreasonable!I turned to Orin, who had just finished his reminiscence of something breast related...breasts! Humans had some odd attractions. They did nothing but stick out and take up space...now wings, they fluttered in that sexy way, and they had a purpose, to help her to leviatate, or fly if necessary...they were a perfect trait if one was ever made...
"You heard her," I said. "A list of everything we need. I doubt that stopping in Hutt space will help us so much as she thinks it will, but we're stopping there anyway."
I had a bad feeling, but I got those a lot around here.
"Anyway, where was I? Oh, yeah. So she had this sister, but that girl was quite a bit chunky, and the wings she had were puny. Between the two, she could hardly levitate..."

Marius

Daelon had made a solid attempt to put me down, but I'd managed to hold on, thinking, I thought he was tired?
Once my turn came, I was ready, with a plan. I watched him, then made a quick move toward him, as though I would dive at him, wanting to throw off his concentration, then i stopped and watched him again. he'd hardly flinched. Good concentration, I thought, but good enough?
I took in a deep breath, then took a quick step forward, foot resting on the air there, and reached out for him. Again, we grappled, trying to throw one another down, but I had what I thought to be the trump card here.
As we fought, I concentrated on his lightsaber, using the force to draw it from his waist, then igniting it and causing it to spin, looking him in the eye the whole time, feeling I'd won with this little trick.
Arrogance. I should have known it would be my downfall. Looking him in the eyes when I should have been looking at the saber, keeping an eye to ensure my aim was accurate. When I finally looked down, I realized my aim was off, and the blade of his weapon was headed for my hands and not his.
I withdrew my hands, taking ina deep breath of surp[rise as the blade moved past me, barely missing my skin. I was relieved for a second, then I fell, striking hard against the ground below, my buttocks aching already as the saber fell nearby.
I looked up to him, embarassed, then shrugged.
"I guess you win this one," I said.

"With Raine's agreement, we shall leave you two a moment to speak and catch up. Daelon," Kelson said, praise coming to him but stopped just before coming out much to Kelson's general annoyance...it was so much easier to congratulate the young man then condemn him to this thankless work, but having been through it himself, Kelson knew the great payoffs ahead.

"Daelon will tell you of our trip through the forest and what we saw."

With that said, Kelson flicked his finger and pulled both lightsabers from the apprentices to his side then turned to Raine to await her reply.

Daelon

Daelon made his way down to Marius, and helped him up.
"I thought you had me there, Marius." he said. "But anyway, come on. Let's leave those two where they are. I know a better place." he said as Marius dusted himself off. Daelon then led him into the forest to a quiet place where he often went to meditate - it was one of the few ponds of pure water on the planet. He then took a seat on a log overlooking the pond, waving Marius down beside him.
"So, Marius. How have you been?" Daelon said.

Tholin Mod, Sith Warrior

arena duels. I am familiar with them. A brutal sport usually, perfect for HuttSpace. "Bloodsports are something I am familiar with. As a general rule I don't participate, I have seen enough blood in my lifetime." I'm not sure if I like the fact that this child is willing to risk her life for coins.
"So, you plan to fly there to get the hyperdrive fixed........" I stop speaking & stare off out the cockpit. I sense something I have not felt in a long time, something... evil.

Kerra Shiran

Tholin speaks as, Kerra takes the Owl off auto-pilot & directs it flight. "Bloodsports are something I am familiar with. As a general rule I don't participate, I have seen enough blood in my lifetime." She talks without turning to him. "Why do I get the feeling that you don't like the idea of a female participating in the matches? Most of my opponents under estimate me any ways."

She shrugs. "I wouldn't be where I am if I didn't know how to handle myself in this world. Besides not all the prizes are for credits." She gives him a sly glance. "Are you game to try?" Kerra turns back & consentrates on plotting a course. "So, you plan to fly there to get the hyperdrive fixed ..." He stops in mid sentence. "Tholin? Tholin?" She turns back & look at him. "Hey you okay? You look like you felt someone walk over your grave?"

"It is nothing, just a feeling I had not expected to feel, ever.
*i thought I was the only one, with Vader & The Emperor dead. It seems that the Sith did not die out. A lightsider would not have felt them, but I am Sith, & felt my bretrherin stir.*

"Oh, what, me fight in a Arena?? I told you little one, I don't care for that. I fight when I have no choice, & I fight to kill, not for sport."

While ploting a safe flight course for the auto-pilot to follow. He finally answers her. "It is nothing, just a feeling I had not expected to feel, ever ~ " Tholin drifts off again in thought, then conprehending what Kerra said earlier. "Oh, what, me fight in a Arena?? I told you little one, I don't care for that. I fight when I have no choice, & I fight to kill, not for sport."

She flips on the auto-pilot then turns to stand. "I am a little one too you, huh?" Kerra sizes him up. "I was not implying you fight in the ring. Beside they wouldn't let you in." She mentions off handedly. "What I ment was a match with me here down in the hold. Or even two matches. One with knives & the other with sabers. Unless there is a saber I can borrow with a shorter blade. She smiles.

she wants a match? This girl hasd no idea what or who I am. In a true fight she may ladt three seconds if the Force is with her & she is quick.

" Yes, you are a little one, young & impetuous, & quick to challenge when slighted. You do not know me, do not know of my training or my abilities." I relax the hold I had over my presence & let my aura wash over her & the ship. Shadows got darker, the air colder, & the feling of death was suddenly around me, a shroud of darkness that promised a violent battle. She took a step back, hands going for her knives instinctively, not knowing how useless thay would be. I regainmy composure & reign in my aura, once more hiding my nature.
" You do not want to duel me child. I am Sith, & am trained much harsher than anything you could imagine."
