Star Trek: Independence (SRP) OOC thread

Sounds good to me! I'll get on it then. :D

when I'm writing it...should I "save" it to bounce it to the next writer or "post" it? *is going to hit the "save" button until he hears otherwise*

Yes. hit the save button. it allows the others in the JP to work on it. only hit 'post' when everyone is done writing. :) and you can communicate with each other with the following while you're working together in writing your post...

<< OOC: your message here. >>

of course this won't be on the post when you're done. if possible, run your posts through a spell check program... or Captain kennedy can by going in under edit and fix typos if everyone aggrees to it.

Just a little info for everyone...

First Executive Officer is the official title for the First Officer (aka 'Number One') and the Second Executive Officer is the official title for the Second Officer (aka 'Number Two').

Hello everyone,

When you get into your control pannel, you will notice that at the top there will be a blue box that says 'saved entries'... and there should be something saying 'Joint Mission Posts' and you'll find a saved post that says 'Metting the <your positition here>'... if there is a green dot beside it.. it means that you have a new saved post and those who are making the post have saved something new and needs you to add to it.

If you have any questions, NIJ and I will help in anyway we can.

Here is a little bit of directions or signing into the site...

On the right side of the main screen you will find the login area with fields for username and password. And right under that is the following menu:

Main

* Simm News
* Site Credits
* Contact Us
* Join <- <- click on this link...

from there you will go to the Join the USS Independence terms of service page. and you'll see the terms of the game (basicly that we're all adults, and that you have to be over the age of 18 to take part).

Once you've hit the Agree link you'll be taken to the actual join page. And you'll need to create a user name and password. you can use your character name, but i suggest a different one, that way you can have more than one character.

Once you have gotten to the bottom, hit submit. and once we get your application NIJ or I will approvate it and you can get started on your first two posts.. For this all you will need to do is login, and you'll be in your control pannel. then go down and to were you see this menu...

Use these links to get started:

Write a mission entry
Start a joint post
Write a personal log<- <- After you've gotten your account information and password changed, this is were your personal log goes, what you'll need to write is a little bit about Syd's trip to get to Deep Space 13, and her arrival onboard the Indy. She'll be greeted by the gruff looking Chief of the Boat, Command Master Chief Petty Officer (CMCPO) Hightower. After you write the personal log, you can hit either Save (so you can return to it and work more on it) or Post (after you've written it, and are pleased with it, and are done with it) or even delete (if you don't want to post it).
Update your account information or change your password
Update your character's biography
Change your site options
Change your personalized menu

Then you can go up to were you see the blue box that says SAVED ENTRIES... this is were your saved posts are located. if there is a green dot beside it, it's a freshly saved post that you haven't made any modifications to yet.

This is the format that I'm using (you don't have to... but it's something I use)

"<thread title>"
Part <number>: 'Post Title'

<time> <day> <month> 2380 <- <- this allows us to keep track of where your posts go in the time for the game...
<location>, <deck>, <ship/station>
<planet or station if the ship is docked>, <sector>

if anyone has questions, don't hesitate to ask. we're here t have fun and thats what i'm trying to make sure happens!

That is an acceptable one to use, or you can use: http://steve.pugh.net/fleet/stardate.html

Which also works the same. Any stardate converter you have would be fine. To make sure it calculates Stardates as we wish them to appear just imput this date: July 21, 2387 (any time of the day) If you come up with Stardate 64551 or 64552 you're in buisiness.

The program does come with a Stardate converter but the date of the SIM and the Stardate isn't corresponding correctly.

Hello everyone.

I have a question for you all. Does everyone have an Internet Messenger? If so please send me your contact info so if you have or need someone to walk you through how to get signed in and create your characters on the website I or NIJ can help you through each step.

I have AIM (theprodgialson), YIM (natehale1971) and even though I don't ever really use it... MSN. But I have been thinking of making a new IM account just for the Indy. And if i do, i'll let everyone know about it.

If you can't get ahold of me, you can get ahold of NIJ on YIM with the screen name ferretconcerto

And if you guys know anyone else who'd like to join the Indy... Please send them our way. We're getting off to a good start, and we've got some really good writers here. And if we can keep up what we're doing, I think the Indy will be around for a very long time!

I have another question. As far as solo posts in the SIMM or posts involving NPCs, do we need to show them to anyone or wait for approval before posting? Or are they submitted to the CO for approval before they get put up? I've written a fun little one for the Orientation Kratos is giving the security staff but I don't want to commit any faux pas.

We had some difficulty with the site, if you tried to get on in the last ten minutes, it was down but it appears to be back up now.

We will still like to see more people, so if you are interested please stop by.

Also, we finally have the ship's patch/logo completed:

Indy patch

I just want to apologize for my absence. I had a personal emergency this week that has kept me detained in the hospital. I have been out of touch with things, as well as being in the middle of a move into a new home.

I'm posting today on the site and am playing catch up. Again I apologize for how inconvenient this is for everyone.

What would you like to play? We are still looking for Flight Control and Science....
