Guinness the beer is heading a campaign to make St.Pats day a national holiday (in Canada). I hope this is just another attempt by a beer company to brand a larger audience because if it isn't then they have their collective heads up their collective asses.
This isn't even a Canadian celebration. I have nothing against the Irish (I am of Irish heritage), it just doesn't seem to have much relevance to Canada.
*aside* My g/f just pointed out that lots of Canadian Holidays aren't really relevant to Canada: August bank Holiday, May Day, Labour Day to name the majority. She thinks it is not a bad idea to make St Pats a National Holiday. She says holidays are a bit arbitrary and since St. Pats is pretty widely celebrated why not. Its already ingrained in our public conciousness.
She has a good point. What do you think?
