Seattle Zack said:Gotta go with Octavian on this one, I can look at a page of text and my eyes instantly lock on the misspelled word. It seems to interrupt the whole flow of the document, almost daring the intrepid proofreader to call its bluff. What, you'll bring down the entire article for "too" instead of "to"?
I'm a wordfreak, so correct spelling is almost pathological to me. And no, I don't compose my posts in Word so I can spellcheck them. I don't have time to correct Word's errors.
But I see a different animal in a lot of posts (not necessarily here, mind you). A lack of comprehension, rather than craft. Idiots who write "weather or not"
(even a moron like me knows that weather is a noun, whereas whether is a comparitive, a suffix perhaps).
It just shows an appalling lack of comprehension to me, a lack of understanding of the basics of the language, let alone its many foibles. When someone can type "I had a feeling that would change you're mind" not even understanding the difference between "your" and "you're" ... well, it's just remarkable to me. Remarkable in the stupidity it displays.

I truly DO know the diff...yet it happens...and, as stated before, I am a crappy typist...i use a modified two finger method and I am generally looking at the keyboard (sorta), such that I do not see the error until I look up. For posts I often DON'T proof...so that I can get my thought on screen in a timely manner (how about MANOR?) heheheehehe...
