And yet another example provided by the dear Aussie. Here (USA), in the world's fat farm, "big" has increasingly taken on a negative connotation, implying overweight. Care to expound, or should i make assumptions?

Oh my......it doesn't mean overweight here. Its almost a term of endearment in totality ( that is including the Mean and the Dom parts ) ..........

As far as whether you will or won't make assumptions Mr Assassin .......I wouldn't dare to presume.......smiles.

So far I auto change when posting on the Boards :

Mum to Mom
Humour to Humor
and a few others that don't come to mind at this moment.

Anything else I need be aware of ..................feigns shame

My, my we do take our grammatical mechanics seriously.

I guess I'm too abstract to understand the importance of prefection in presentation of icons.

Frightened...

Although my common sense should tell me to avoid this thread…the temptation is far too great!

I have gotten many snickers, chuckles, and outright belly laughs from these posts. Some of the banter has been incredibly amusing. Try explaining this to a friend who doesn’t post here and let them ask to read it for themselves though. Yes, I made this grievous error. Let’s just say I’m “closeted” still.

I am impressed by the grammatical and spelling prowess of everyone posting in English as a second language. Honestly, I had no clue where many of you were from. (I am new here and seldom post, thus have not had the opportunity to “mix and mingle”.) ;) Kudos and many thanks for all of the effort put forth. When corresponding in other languages, I am certain that I butcher my written words far worse than my spoken words…part of the difficulty is replacing the characters with Romanized words. Sheesh! It takes a great deal of time to compose simple emails to friends.

My two cents, I am most likely to notice and be annoyed by misused homophones. It has been a pet peeve my entire life. To my recollection, the greatest offenders are those whose native language is English. Personally, I fly through messages and seldom pay attention to spelling or grammar…but you can always count on a strong effort in my proper use of homophones. I just don't use spell check on forum posts, IMs, or emails.

off topic:
Not wanting to be smacked, but I will take my chances - I am glad that it is World Cup time. Even with cable television, it is difficult to get much football/soccer (cringes) in the US. Of course, I was banned from watching it while I was overseas, as it seems my addiction was interfering with the trip. *shrugs*

:::making note of Luna’s new sepia av:::: I’m lovin’ it, Doll! (just had to throw in my “real-speak”) Where is my autographed poster?

I like the new feature that the spell check is built into the reply box!

Really? I haven't seen that on mine. Would you mind telling me where it's located? I already have a spell check on my computer. I'm also assuming it's a feature you have to use manually? Mine underlines things in red while I'm typing if it's spelled wrong.

It's in the upper right hand corner above the reply field, and yes you have to click it to run it. The icon looks like this

in the skin I'm using.

Thank You:rose: *pouts* I don't have one on the skin I'm using. I wonder if others have it or not. It's ok though since my computer already has one, but it would be helpful for others who don't.

Which skin are you using?

That's strange, because when I switch to that skin, I have it (see attached) which browser do you use?

Foxfire..which may be why I don't have it. ( I looked at your attachment and looked again..I don't have it) Foxfire has a built in spell check.

Do you mean firefox?? ;)

*giggles* Dammit that's what I meant. Spell check won't help with that huh? LOL.. That is the problem, though. I just opened Lit with IE and I have it then.. I just don't have it with my firefox..
