My extended and ongoing summer vacation started with my annual golf outing.
This was the 5th year running of what has become know as "The Raymond Burr Open." Only this year, being that our numbers went up to 16 from 12 - the new guys, thinking it was such a great tourny - decided to remane it - "The Raymond Burr Invitational."
Of course I had to explain, "the Raymond Burr Story," to all the new guys. They being curious as to why this little get together had become named after such an illustrious actor.
So - we all had a great "manley" time. 36 holes a day (for 2days) 18 on the last 3rd day. 2 nights, meals - and all the booze we could handle. I mean 6am poppin' beers and up sittin' in lawn chairs 'til midnight sippin' Scotch. Lots of Aleive too - lots of Aleive.
I was delighted when I checked in - (we rent this huge ass house on the course you see) - that the clerk said, "Mr. Kronkite? Are you with the Raymond Burr Group?"
If she only knew the "hole" story - I think they might have given us all our money back and kicked us off the damn course.
