I learned all the first aid stuff way back in high school. Not sure I could do it perfectly now.

I've never had a CPR moment, just one night I had a cold and popped a cough drop right before bed. It went down my throat when I was lying there coughing (stupid me). I couldn't breathe! Luckily my boyfriend was next to me and he immediately performed the Heimlich Maneuver. That cough drop shot right out of my mouth. I'm so lucky! That was one of the very rare nights he stayed over at my apartment.

I was at a meeting once where an infant passed away. I was the one that saw his little blue feet sticking out. There was nothing we could do by that time, though we tried.

It is said that in crisis times you default to your level of training and that is very true. The brain can simply lock up, but the body knows what to do and that can pull your through until the brain kicks back in.

Soul's comment is very true - you just never know how a person is going to react when a crisis hits. I've seen unexpected people do very brave and difficult things and very experienced people lock up or lose it.

TN any time anything bad happens to a child, that is the worst and those tend to be the ones that haunt you. I never gave CPR to a child (thank goodness), I mostly got the old and infirm, accident victims (both groups have little chance of recovery) and drug addicts (who are surprisingly resilient).

I'm doing well. I spent the afternoon checking about 75 foam batons to see if they work and if they have color. They are 19 inch long white foam sticks with a button on the bottom. Nothing to indicate the color they show. I found some colored stickers of all the various colors and slapped them on the bottom. Yay for being an office/ULine addict freak!

I'm doing well. I spent the afternoon checking about 75 foam batons to see if they work and if they have color. They are 19 inch long white foam sticks with a button on the bottom. Not as effective as the last one, but same attack vectors only directed at ISP's. They had it shut down in about 20 minutes, but there are always aftershocks as everyone tries to get their servers/services back online.
