I wrap gifts by destination ... And have separate Santa gift paper ... My paper also usually matches all my Christmas decor too ... ( have i ever mentioned I'm ever so slightly OCD):eek:

I always loved my Dad's style of shopping. He bought for no one, not Christmas or birthdays, except Mom. On Christmas Eve night, as late as possible. She would unwrap whatever it was & the fix the paper back!

He got her a diamond cluster ring one year. I wrapped it, it went into a watch box & by the time I was done it was duct taped to the bottom of a stereo box with quite a bit of steel (Daddy was a welder), some bricks, etc etc. She was mad as hell by the time she found it!!


And Hawaii... Ain't skeered! :p

My father always shopped on Christmas eve for my mom ... And it usually meant he cornered one or two of us that morning to ask what to buy her ... Then he'd wrap it while the rest of us were eating Christmas eve dinner

He always missed her birthday by a week at least and i don't think he ever remembered their anniversary.

Mom was the only one he kept up with, lol. Or face her wrath! They got married on Leap Day, so no forgetting that one. He almost always bought her jewelry. He had great taste too.

I'm lucky to get the month right on our anny. The only reason I can is our son was six months old, lmao!

Azul, that should have been Hasai dammit.

it's time to start thinking Christmas - oh my. Have a few things taken care of, used to have it all done by October. When I started working on the road - that has made it hard, and the kids are all grown. We usually made a big deal of birthdays and Christmas was more about giving - angel trees - friends - homeless etc. :kiss:

Even though we grew up poor, my momma always made sure we learned to give to those who had less than us and we've continued that tradition with our little ones. My son helps me pick up the food donations from the local grocery store to take to our local shelter. He also helps me pick names off the Angel tree and shop for them. And, he already knows that if Santa brings him new things for Christmas, he has to choose some current things to donate.

Lol, i can tell you the date of every important event in my life, but I'm usually hard pressed to tell you what day of the week it is :eek:

That is awesome! I wish more parent's did this. I know that 2 of my 4 nieces / nephews do this with their families.

Yes ma'am!! Hell, we never knew we were poor until we got older. I can remember more than once Dad giving his last few dollars to someone because, as he told Mom, we had a home & food in the freezer. Him & my uncles hunted & gave away the meat, same with the football field sized garden. You shared what you had. I grew up picking up hitch hikers too. It wasn't a big deal then.

Thank you. I wish that also. I just want my son to be grounded in life and appreciate we have enough when others don't.

We had the garden too and my mom canned and froze everything. She cooked everything from scratch and made most of our clothes too. And she made sure that we worked hard in school so we could get a scholarship to go to college.

She always told us "you aren't rich in money, but you are in family and that's what lasts"
