Space X

The did lose telemetry on the first stage booster about a minute before it landed on the recovery platform "Yes I still Love You".

Other than that it was perfect. Sometime tomorrow am they'll dock with the space station.

I do think that we need another orbital platform up there. In the event of an emergency, the inhabitants of one can "escape" to the other. Without that, they're stuck with only 1 option if the platform breaks apart or burns - die. Because there's no way we can rescue them.

There is an escape plan for the ISS. They always have a soyuz attached.
Thinking they can just fly to another station shows a lack of understanding of how shit really works. The movie Gravity lied to you. It was a great movie but you can't just hop around from one place to another in orbit.

Last i saw it came off without a hitch.

It was a glorious sight.

I'm not sure about the need for redundancy unless it is profitable.
A zero-G hotel outside the various laws of virtue;
that would sell tickets as well as
provide a refuge...

Why?
You are already traveling at the speed of orbit once you detach,
it seems like it would take little fuel and a lot of math,
but math comes pretty cheaply in a computer age.

And (not to B_D),
but come on people, grow up.
Cock rockets? Really? Are the Virgin Vagina space stations?
You could do something with Branson, Ozarks and Rednecks if you're not mailing it in...

Orbital transfer is expensive in terms of energy and time. Biggs is correct, the transfer of stations as shown in Gravity is unrealistic. It's hypothetically possible, but highly unlikely, for stations to share orbits in the way depicted in the movie. For emergency evacuation, it's far more efficient just to maintain an escape craft on the ISS.

There's a fair amount of delta v involved. And delta v takes fuel.

I take that back. It'll happen when we develop X-Wings. Fuck yeah!
But really if I'm being totally honest the TIE looks to be more fun. Maybe not as cool looking but more advanced and maneuverable and adaptable to multiple weapons platforms. I could fuck some shit up with one of those.

Not overly impressed with the visibility. Especially for something that's essentially a dogfighter.

Everything Musky does is a subsidy dumpster. Without huge government checks he would still be in software, online banking, or pushing coffeemakers on a home shopping channel.

You might want to look into how much the oil industry is subsidized.

I agree but overall they do pretty well in battle. Some of that is the more advanced tech but they can drop an ass whooping on a rebel fleet.
