I am an occasional ampic lurker and today I was lurking and wondering. How honest should people be with their photos? Should the subject of a photo use something like photoshop to eliminate unpleasant blemishes? Do you think it's a little dishonest for a person to present a photoshopped image instead of a real representation of how they look?

More than once I've clicked on a link and been greeted by, for example, a nest of ass-sores. Not just pimples, but sores that leave me to believe that the person is unclean. I can't imagine anyone enjoying seeing such images and I wonder why the person would even share.

Should people consider cropping, photoshopping, or not using images with unsightly blemishes or a filthy background? Or should they just put it out there and not care if anyone likes it or not?

Personally, I'm cool with improving one's appearance when it comes to something like zits. I see nothing wrong with enhancing the color or lighting of a photo. Now, if someone manages to take off a hundred pounds or increase A cups to DD cups, then that is... well, dishonest and talented. ;)

lol I wish I had the techno savvy ...but just getting photos from my phone, on to my computer and then on to here is ordeal enough to do my head in!

Maybe its my own personal vanity at play, but I would never consider posting a photo of myself with a great ruddy canker on my bum or anywhere else for that matter, especially if the offering was for anothers titillation!

Fortunately, I'm not prone to them either.

I know that I will crop photos to cut out background "noise" or to draw attention to a particular area or to even better center a photo. I can't stand to see photos that are obviously photoshopped or edited. What is the real person?
I want to see imperfections. I want to see real people. To me, it is much more of a turn on.

Imperfections can be interesting, like a scar, wrinkles, or something that is permanently part of a person. I just don't want to see someone's athlete's feet or open wound.

I actually enjoy looking at most people's photos. I like to see what poses they're using, backgrounds, props, etc. I like to look at all the different sizes and shapes. And like you, I want to see the real person... just not too real. :D

From a photographer's point of view, there are two schools of thought. I happen to follow the ideal of using Photoshop to remove only non-permanent blemishes, but leave the scars/moles/birth marks. This should result in a photo that shows what the person really looks like but removes the things that many people consider unsightly and might not normally be there anyhow. Hopefully, a good photographer will also make the subject look attractive with good lighting and composition, without distorting their appearance so they aren't recognizable in person.

The other method is mainly used in advertising, when the client isn't the model but has a certain ideal of what they want in the photo of the product. These photographers will use all the tricks of Photoshop to remove any hint of imperfection - including the pores of the skin in some cases - until the model looks like a plastic mannequin. They will make adjustments that rearrange the facial structure, enlarge the eyes, change iris color and hair color ... basically building a person anew from a photo.

Either way, I agree that a lot of people don't seem to care what they look like when they post on forums such as Literotica, and this I can't understand. It's like they're daring me to look at the photos.

I realize that not everyone has the equipment or the training of a professional, but you don't need a thousand-dollar camera or years of experience to know that you could have waited for those burns to heal before snapping the photos of your dirty ass or that you could have cleaned up the socks and underwear from the floor of the bathroom before showing us your favorite sex position.

Just sayin'.

No. People should just post themselves.

When people try to enhance themselves via photoshop it's just annoying, and it proves that there is an acknowledged definition of pretty and ugly.

Though, from the way men react to nearly every pic posted here, you woudn't be able to tell.

You got that right!

Interesting thread!

Generally we do not do any alterations to body or skin type [blemish] but for sound reasons we do remove two tattoo's. All other post pro work is purely to enhance the picture in ways which happen to please us.

As the title of the place is ampics nobody should be slammed for the kind of shots posted be it busy background / gynacological / spotty ass / Pshopped etc and perhaps it helps improve both peoples perceptions of themselves as well as over time helping to assist them in taking shots in the future?

...i did some alteration to some of my pics lately...just for pure fun...but i posted the natural picture and the altered one.....
i agree that you should give some thought before snapping....even thought...sometimes a forgotten slippers....lay there...well....forgotten....
but i understand that not being a professional...not always they come out right...

I can understand removing something like a tattoo that could identify you.

Of course no one should be slammed for any photo they post. I believe in positive reinforcement and I understand that the person may not be aware that their room is that messy or their skin really needs some attention.

I agree with what Ekserb wrote, "I realize that not everyone has the equipment or the training of a professional, but you don't need a thousand-dollar camera or years of experience to know that you could have waited for those burns to heal before snapping the photos of your dirty ass or that you could have cleaned up the socks and underwear from the floor of the bathroom before showing us your favorite sex position."

I think there are times when photoshop is needed, maybe just to lighten a photo enough to make easier to view, and there is a time to reconsider certain shots before posting them. Of course it's all up to the individual, and beauty and ugly are in the eyes of the masturbator. :cathappy:

Lol well put............Ekserb is correct for sure and trust me we are neither using a $1000.00 camera [nor actually photoshop lol] but we do try to put a little bit of thought into what we are doing here, much the same as taking any photo really, but it is amazing the number of times we look at our pics and notice the odd sock hanging around :)

A sock is fine. Maybe one on your foot and one hanging from the windowsill. That screams either passion or bad housekeeping. :D

I don't think people and backgrounds need to be perfect. But I have seen some rooms that weren't just messy. They looked filthy. And I'm standing by my original statement about the nest of ass sores. No, no, no. My goodness, just cut out an image of a moose and paste it on your bottom. Everyone should learn cut and paste for emergencies.

I've thought about starting a pic thread but I always have an excuse, like maybe I should wait until I trim my toenails or maybe I should dye my pubic hair some exciting shade. Lime-fuchsia.

hehe covering ass-sores. I'm not sure it's part of career counselling for moose!!

I'm with Ekserb on the removal of non-permenant blemishes. You can never predict when a pimple or whatever will show up and when you are doing the photos you don't always have the chance to wait until they go away.

I try to limit my post prod work to adjusting color balance, exposure and sharpening. That's it. I think from a photographer's perpective it gets to be a slippery slope when you are known to sometimes modify a photo, then when you take the photo of a lifetime there is always a lingering doubt about the authenticity of it.

I'd say it's fine to enhance the photo (crop it, adjust light and colour whatever), but be honest about yourself.

As has been noted it won't make any difference with the men here. Every thread (even the ass sores one I'll wager) has a hundred replies of "Oh my god, you are so sexy! You are a very beautiful and special woman." And so on.

And there's nothing wrong with A cups.

I like what you did with your photos. The brown fabric background and chair work perfectly. And your ass looks good. No need for a moose's head.

This is a pretty tough subject. Someone should be allowed to edit a picture in order to remove any unsightly blemishes that normally don't appear on them. Acne, scrapes, cuts, razor bumps, and the likes should be given the chance to be erased before being posted. I don't edit my photos, just a choice of mine to show what it naturally there no matter how I happen to look that day. On the other hand, if you're going for a more statuesque pose, then by all means edit away! It becomes a problem when people change their entire looks and make themselves appear more than they are. Weight, height, hair, eye, and skin tone should never be played with. There's no need to try and make yourself more appealing when there's someone out there who would give the world to be the one looking at you through the lens.

No one is that good looking.

I do beg to differ on that one Ekserb. Beauty is purely in the eye of the beholder. We both may not know who would love to be the ones looking at us through the lens, but there are atleast a couple of people who would love to be the ones snapping pictures of you or myself. No one may be THAT good looking in a sense, but don't you ever wonder who wants to be the one taking pictures of you? There is probably someone on Lit who would love to be that person photographing you even though you may not see yourself as the #1 Adonis on the site. I'm sure there has been someone in your lifetime that was completely infatuated with your looks, so the same rule applies online.

I meant literally. No one is so good looking that I'd "give the world" to take their picture.

I am.

Wait. That was a dream I had last night. Silly me. But I bet you'd give a buck to take my picture... one of me hanging upside down from an elephant's trunk, bobbing for apples.

Meh. I've seen that before and it only cost me a nickel.
