son of the isolated blurts thread!

Well it's always a little disconcerting to hear a loud boom from somewhere in the distance and your house actually shakes.

What the hell was that?

I'm guessing fireworks. I think it even scared the people who set it off, because I'm just now starting to hear smaller fireworks coming from that direction.

I live out in the sticks. We are always hearing either guns or fireworks, sometimes it's hard to tell which is which. But this was so big, it shook the house.

Roll in creepy music and start imploring that it could only be aliens farting on the world for all the wrong doings of humans upon humans and Gaia.

Sending hugs and kisses your way, Cate. :rose::kiss:

Thanks very much. A childhood neighbor lost a son, by accident, yesterday. It's such a jarring thing, like getting totally blindsided. My heart goes out to them and I feel so grateful for all the kids in our families and that they are well...so fortunate. I never met the young man but by all accounts he was a great kid, very charitable and giving. Cannot even imagine the pain they're in.

The sadness continued, one of my cats died suddenly last night. She was sleeping nearby and when I called for her at bedtime, she didn't move. She wasn't old, maybe 7 - 8 years (the rescue shelter didn't know), a bit on the crazy side and loud. Kind of like me. Totally nutty. And I only got to have her a few years.

I'm so sorry Cathleen. What someone said to me when I lost my last kitty was: You made the time you had her comfortable, special, and full of love, and whether a few days or a few years you did a wonderful thing for her. Amazing how much they give back in their own little ways.

Peace and comfort to you lovely lady. :rose:

Oh, I'm sorry :-/ We had a similar experience with my dog last month - he was a rescue who'd only been with us three years, and we thought we'd have much longer with him, but he got sick unexpectedly and died two months later. At least we got time to say goodbye, though.

*hugs* if you want them.

LOL

It was fireworks. I think whoever was setting them off scared themselves with that big one, though; it was a couple hours before we heard any more.

Might as well be aliens, though. Quite a few people around here believe they saw a bigfoot last winter, so why not aliens?

Thanks folks. I appreciate the good words, thoughts and yes hugs too, Bramblethorn.
