Well, how bad is cutting yourself slightly to relieve tension? If someone says that they'd never go further than that, I know it can still be dangerous and a cry for help, but can it possibly be just a phase which will be in past soon (as it has been before)?

I really don't know what I'm asking.

Are they cutting themselves with a piece of paper or a chain saw?

Yes it is a cry for help and/or attention.

I imagine sharper than paper, duller than a chainsaw. Thanks.

Exercise, meditation, or taking up smoking never crossed your mind?

53,000 people die from second hand smoke a year. And you are telling this person to take up smoking?

For shame!

Personally, I prefer exercise, tv, or masturbation. But that is neither here nor there.

I would smoke, but I have a strange urge to keep my body healthy.

I'm confused.. are you the cutter or a friend of the cutter? Because cutting isn't exactly healthy for ones body.

I apologize for not making it clear. I am the friend. But it was more about cutting in general. (I didn't want to get into lengthy explainations of what this person has gone through)
