All hail the Department of Homeland Security!

(I really shouldn't watch CNN .. it makes me far too hostile)

Then you definitely don't want to switch over and watch Fox News...

...or drink at a bar in Fairfax, VA.

lol - watching it tonight made me think of joining ACLU and an anti-war group.

But, then .. I have to remember that CNN is far from reflecting real life ..

I mean, come on. How can GWB honestly say he'd like a *peaceful solution* when he calls it a *Showdown*?? WTF?? Isn't John Wayne dead?

ROFL...remembering your second sentence will prevent reacting quickly and doing the first. Niether groups are bowls of peaches either. :)

Well, I have my own opinions on it, but I"m thinking that right now ain't the best time. ;)

lol - any group so organized like ACLU tends to be ridiculous .. What's that saying about individuals and committees?? Political parties fall into that rule, too. I trust individuals to do the right thing .. but even when a group of intelligent people form a large, organized mass .. they turn into meatheads and buttnuggets.

The anti-war group - still might do something there.

lol - and you're right .. I'm in a raging kind of mood. I might turn radical and activist on you tonight.

Oooooo.. scary Cat!!

Damn. I thought for sure this was a thread about The Daily Show. They had a segment a few weeks ago called "So You Live in a Police State."

Oh well.

That's where I got it from :D

I  The Daily Show. I trust them more than CNN .. definitely.

Ooo - did you see the one before Christmas about "I like it Rough" Elmo?? hee hee..

That's pretty much my feeling on large organizations. They turn individuals into "people" which generally removes their good common sense and sense of propriety. A lot of those advocacy groups provide a place where a wacko can nest and rist to a level of power he or she could never attain alone.

Feh. Unfortunately I disagree with you on the war issue, so I suppose I'd be willing to tussle with you on it for a while. ;)

Dear - you're a Republican, and Republicans disagree with me about everything.

Has anyone actually taken time to read the USA Patriot Act? It's quite something, as was the Terrorism Act it modified.

No I'm not. I'm a Libertarian.

I'm a Conservative, though, which does put me at odds with you politically. ;)

I'm registered Independant but I voted for Bush.. I can say I'm truly scared now.. The war on Terror, War on Drugs, War with Iraq, and possible war with Korea. We bombed rocks in Afghanistan and didn't find Bin Laden.. How many wars can we have at once? I'm so scared it's not even funny. I think its because I live so close to Three Mile Island, but I'm not glowing yet, but they did give us pills in case it blew.. Geesh.. Now I'm all hot and bothered now.. :) Petra

P.S. Sorry I had to vent.. :)

YAY! My thread has a purpose!

I wonder how many that voted for Bush, like you now, are regretting that they did. Everything is just so .. reckless. There's a line from a song that has be haunting me recently, since the idea seems to be entirely too accepted:

Now it's let him live in freedom, if he lives like me

How much, how far, when does it end? When do we understand that sometimes the most effective show of might and strength is restraint?

Why are they so fucking eager to go to war in this case? It's too ambiguous, too much like an agenda. I don't like it.

Fuck it. I just convinced myself. I'm finding some group where I can actually do something. I can't do anything by myself, bitching on this board .. but I can add my voice and effort .. I can try .. I can help those willing to resist this maddness.

What an awesome question! Sometimes it's braver to hold back and get all of the facts before risking the lives of so many people. I just wish I could turn back the clock on election day and change my vote. Unfortunately, I think somehow my vote would be disregarded... The whole situation gives me a headache!

Perhaps we could start an online protest page.. It beats spending the gas and going to Washington! :) Petra

A sure fire way to live in a police state is

to join an anti war movement.

BTW......Thank goodness you have no idea what a true police state is like!!!!!!

Yeah, true police states were always peaceful countries like Russia and Germany.

*ahem* it was tongue-in-cheek .. hinting that we are going in that direction, will continue if unchecked.

How exactly would we live in a police state if we don't march blindly into war?

Go, shoo, be gone with you .. I have no patience for people that don't know how to argue properly.

Join the peace group. We're one of the single most dedicated pascifist groups in the history of America, and we also have the best weed. You can't go wrong man.

That's an example of what bothers me greatly about these little losses of civil liberties. You don't notice the baby steps, they don't seem to matter too much .. until you look back and say: Holy Hell, what have we let happen? By then, it's too late.

We can't ever forget that our Federal, State and local officials - elected or not, have to answer to the general populace. The moment that isn't a normal expectation .. that's the beginning of a Police State.

The sky is falling!

Bock!
Bock, bock!
Bock, bock, bock!
Bock, bock, bock, bock!

Anyway, that's what sounds like from here. :D :rose:
