So why did a right wing incel do it?

All these MAGA NAZI WHITE CHRISTIAN NATIONALIST threatening violence and bloodshed must forget that other citizens have weapons too. You don’t scare us. Shut Up! Pray harder hypocrites.

Report: quiet kid, who got bullied in school.

Car had explosives.

Trump should go to prison. Trump should not be president. Trump is a shitty human being.

Trump did not ask to be assassinated. This is the dumbest fucking take in an incredibly stupid thread. This is the "well if he didn't want to be assassinated he shouldn't have dressed like that" victim shaming bullshit that you'd howl about if someone who disagreed with you said it. Be better.

However...

The reality is that Trump has exacerbated - purposefully - the level of violent rhetoric in America. That is undeniable fact.

Some examples:

Trump...
  • said Mark Milley should face the death penalty (former chairman of joint chiefs of staff)
  • said shoplifters in California should be shot on sight
  • made fun of the attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband
  • told people they "ought to go for the attorney general" as he glared at Bragg
  • told people he'd pay for the legal bills multiple times at events if they beat up protesters
  • suggested that one of his followers would/should have a 2nd amendment solution for HRC
  • called George Soros a terrorist
  • labels anyone who disagrees with him a traitor - including those in his own party
  • "fight like hell", "J6 hostages" etc
  • called immigrants vermin and said they taint the blood
And on and on and on.

I mean there's so many it is literally impossible to even find and list them. Basically open any rally speech and you will hear dozens of calls to violence with amped up rhetoric. He actively played a role in setting the stage here. He has added to the violent rhetoric in the American discourse since 2016.

To compare him to a rape victim is an insult to the rape victim. They don't go out advocating other be raped. Trump advocated - and will continue to advocate for - violence to be committed in his name.
I appreciate where you are going in this but Trump's hands are not clean.

That's so weak. We don't fucking assassinate our political opponents in this country, and we're certainly not as members of the left supposed to normalize or rationalize it by pretending that they asked for it.

Probably one of those people the dems told to go register as a repub and vote against Trump in the primary. Thats a real thing. Just guessing.

I'm not justifying it or condoning it.

I am simply saying that we live in a tinder keg political environment and Trump is the biggest match lighter. That is fact.

I never said, inferred, implied, expressed, averred or in any way insinuated he deserved it. But if you want to say he had nothing to do with creating the environment of violence in which it happened then you would be wrong.

Insofar as the now-deceased twenty-year-old I'd like to see if anything he has written or otherwise communicated is found or made available. Everyone can speculate all they want but I doubt any of us knows yet about any possible mental history or medications or treatment the decedent was undergoing.
I'll not dispute that Trump is a bombastic motormouth with a penchant for pissing people off but he's been that way as long as I've known who he was. WTF knows the why of this assassination attempt but now there's a dead spectator and shooter with others wounded.

Historically, the most dangerous job in the history of America is not policeman, firefighter or meat packing plant worker.

The most dangerous job in the history of America is President of the United States. 8.8% mortality rate, even with around-the-clock protection.

The United States Supreme Court, the National Rifle Association and the Heritage Foundation keep our sacred right to address perceived injustices with high caliber rifle slugs a sad but necessary right.

"The Tree of Liberty must periodically be watered with the blood of innocent school children and fertilized with the manure of failed presidential candidates"

He also shares with other Republicans the fact that a civilian is permitted access to an assault rifle. That's on him and other Republicans.
I would trust Thomas Matthew Crook with a gun before I trusted you and your pig buddies.

I am glad a member of the Young Democrats of America did not do it. Trumpers would love to pin this on Democrats.

Thomas Matthew Crooks was a lonely, twenty year old failure who could not get a date.
Laugh for now, but remember that the socially/financially/sexually-unsuccessful young men have always been the prime recruitment fodder of radical revolutionary movements. Doesn't matter if it's the French Revolution, the Bolsheviks, Cultural Revolution or ISIS. Give 'em a good excuse to start killing and they'll do it.

Yes you are.

That you refuse to admit that you are is where the real problem lies.
No she isn't.

I am, but I think the average liberal is actually serious when they say that they have moral objections to the killing of the fash. It's confounding, I know, but it's just another reason why actual leftists generally don't take liberalism seriously.

A 20 year old right wing incel from Pennsylvania was the shooter? That sounds strange. Why? Are the turning on their own now?

There is a subculture in MAGA (maybe more than a subculture) that just sees Trump as a means to their ends - A civil war.

Now what would trigger a civil war faster than the assassination of Trump???

🤔

And here comes the "its ok to assassinate people" from the right.

IT IS NOT ALRIGHT TO ASSASSINATE PEOPLE.

Hi there, we don't know each other and we may have gotten off on the wrong foot... but I though I should tell you that Rob is one of the most progressive liberals on this board. Has a long history of it as well. The sarcasm font doesn't always come through, but you can rest assured what he said was very much so acidically sarcastic.

Ah, thank you. Mea Culpa.

stop. you're going to make me vote for him twice.

its insulting to rape victims to use them to make your political point when you're parties policies actually increase rape by a large margin.

A trumper committing voter fraud. Shocking.

You left out 'sexiest' but I'll get over it. :nana:

You do of course get bonus points for "so acidically sarcastic".

i pride myself in "reading the audience" but I guess I got sloppy earlier today.

The sudden return of Saint_Ann and Glamorilla after years of self-imposed exile was a bit unnerving. I guess folks take campaign ear piercings more seriously than I do.

Plus that 74 year old 480 pound hose beast from North Carolina who popped on here last night to inform us that you were "disgusting". Thankfully her pictures have vanished this morning but they still gave a bit of a nightmare last night.

It's almost like a reunion. 🥳
