For me, liberty and capital are subordinate / subservient to society and community.

That ^ ranking of prioritizations is based on a pragmatic assessment of the level of importance of each of those thing in relation to the ability of the human race (and, by extension, myself) to survive and thrive.

He then focused on that rally exclusively. It would seem he wanted to take out some political celebrity...ANY political celebrity. The only other shooter he fixated on was the punk who took out four kids in a Michigan school shooting.

Random political assassination seems like "end stage libertarianism" to me. "They tax me, ergo, I have the natural right to shoot them".

This highlights the problem with trying to ascribe motives that are then used to help justify and push some antagonism or another.
Sometimes the reasons make no rational sense and have no obvious motive that we can put in a particular box.
Of course, even if we’d had this information right away, some of the deliberate conspiracy theorists still would have tried to provoke.
The only cause that it provides support for? The same as all of these awful events.

I would love to say that I understand "at one level" anyone thinking the person identified as "the shooter" was, indeed, the shooter. But I don't. I just cannot imagine living in a world and being that...confused, non-critical, a child in an adult body...just...hey it's on the internet it must be true!
