So... Who does it better?

Teenage Dirtbag: captures perfectly a typical adolescent mistake that many of us have made. First, the narrator is hung up on this one girl when there are probably twenty others he knows that would be more suitable for him. And she already has a boyfriend with an IROC (a Chevrolet Camaro, in other words). So he criticizes himself. "She doesn't know what she's missing." No, he doesn't know what he's missing.

Turn on CC the guy's whose chair she sit in, Tim, tells her she can't sing that song because it impossible to sing.

I can't find live versions of either one of these. Anyway, it's like the Wheatus song. Has this guy even talked to the chick in his class? Where did he get the delusion that she would go for him if only his grades were better? What about the dozen or whatever other girls in the room? "Don't know much about the Middle Ages, I just looked at the pictures and turned the pages." Probably the whole point is that it is a satire, and the joke is on the narrator.

Not even going to put up the original Radiohead version as anyone whoever did a cover of this did it better than Radiohead.

And these two won the 2019 Voice Kids Germany.

Two covers of a Townes Van Zandt song. "White" doesn't refer to the color of the truck; White Motors merged with Freightliner and for a while, they had a dual brand.

"Born to be Wild" - that song became a cinematic cliche after a while. I can't find the clip, but an example is in Martin Mull's 1980 film Serial (the motorcycle scene on the now-gone Embarcadero Freeway). If I ever get around to it, I had planned an essay about what Easy Rider was unintentionally really showing. That will take a while, however.

Earle is Steve Earle's ("Copperhead Road") son. Unfortunately, he passed from a drug overdose at the age of forty in 2020.

"Creep" - another version of "Teenage Dirtbag." No, dude, she's not that special, she's not perfect - nobody is. If she thinks that about herself - well, that right there is a big red flag.

I like Johnny Cash's better, which is weird because I usually don't like country music and I'm a bigger nine inch nail fan than most my age

I like some country music - the lesser-known stuff usually - and Nine Inch Nails too. People your age? Yeah, I've forgotten how far back some of this came out. Unless you mean your age in the other direction, like me!

Nine Inch Nails gets covered. I used to think that this had something to do with the George W. Bush administration and maybe the invasion of Iraq, although maybe I'm stretching it a bit.

And do some covering:

And the Finals are being broadcast...

Opening broadcast with all the finalists.

Now I know no one can beat the King.

And they continue... the finals.

Now this young lady had some medical problem and this is the first time she is singing again after the doctor told her she couldn't for a while. This isn't quite her best performance.
