So, what were you doing 11 years ago?

I was just starting my own business in the middle of a recession. Tough times

I was working in my first job out of graduate school, trying to qualify for the licensing exam, living in a crappy apartment, wondering how the hell I ever got from New Jersey to Kentucky. (Talk about the road less travelled!)

Wasn't there also a war going on, a Bush and Cheney and Powell and some evil people in "the Gulf"?

Eleven years ago...

I was a 19 year old college boy (a sophomore) enduring a falling out with the girl who is now my wife of eight years.

I was also figuring out that being a liberal arts college professor would be a really cool life. I had not figured out what field, but when I was 19 I knew I was going to grad school and that someday I would be a prof.

And here I am eleven years later, on the other side of the podium so to speak

Bush, patriots, SCUDs, F-117A Nighthawk stealh fighters, Bravo Two Zero (thats British SAS btw), lots of tanks.... not understanding everything..

Those are my "gulf" memories... but i was only 8 or 9....

11 yrs. ago

I was just starting to find out that the woman I was getting involved with liked sex as much as I do. Consequently, I spent most of Feb. '91 in bed with her.

Did somebody say something about a war...?

~H~

I had just turned 18 and was in my senior year of high school. I wasn't speaking to my mother and my father was telling me I HAD to have my graduation party with my other cousins who hated me. I was well into my third year of dating the man I bought a house with, had a kid with and then married 7 years later.

Oh...I almost forgot. I had a pen pal named Tim that was stationed in the Gulf.

February, 1991

I was in the third year of the best job that I've had... Ever!

February - probably at a trade show or convention somewhere in the southern US, - Anaheim, New Orleans, San Antonio, Orlando - I honestly cannot remember which. The BEST part was avoiding a week of this Canadian winter!

My son was doing the "Terrible Two's" thing, but Oh, so lovable... And, we had just bought our first house together the year before - I was a combo of Bob Vila and Norm Abram that year...

All in all, a great year...:D

At this hour of the morning I was more than likely nursing a hangover. I was contemplating a change in my life as well. Its 10 years since I go sober so I believe I must have been thinking about it 11 years ago.

I was working fulltime at an aerospace company, working parttime on my Associate's degree and getting ready for a field-study experience at several reservations in South Dakota and Montana and fitting some mind-body-health classes in between my major coursework, teaching Wicca 101 classes at a local metaphysical shop, and trying to keep the peace at home between my three cats and tankful of fishies.

11 years ago........

mmmm...

I was 30 years old, married for 2 years and looking forward to Valentines Day & my wife's birthday (20th). 11 years on....... same old story :)

I was 11 and in the 6th grade. I had just moved to Massachusetts with my mother the year before, and the bad shit in my life would be going down before the year was over.

My daughter was two.
I was almost through grad school.
Life was good.

I was 19. In high school again. Living by myself in a tiny part of town out the middle of no where, well, my father-in-law lived there, too, but he was not any help. StudMuffin was in Iraq somewhere doing things he still won't talk about and other things like sneaking through enemy territory to "paint" targets with a laser jobby so the laser guided missiles would find targets. Daddy was "translating" CNN and telling me what Stud was doing because Daddy did enough dust offs with LRRPs that he could tell me exactly what was up. It turns out that he was mostly correct. According to a few stories I've heard, I was apparently almost a widow several times. The Stud's never been the same since. We get introspective around these parts between January and May.

I was 10 years old and in my last year at primary school. My classmates and I thought we were really grown up, but we were also beginning to realise that we were about to go our seperate ways.

Heady stuff, if you think about it.

Last year

1991 was my last year of an 8 year enlistment. I was 25 and had 3 children

I was 9 years old, in fourth grade, miserable because I had started developing and all the idiots in my class called me 'fat' because of it.

I hate rednecks ... even in child form.

had to do some math.......

11 years ago............I was 34. separating from my wife, and found a new girlfriend. Same job. Acquiring the first of several income properties. And now wondering where those 11 years since have gone!
