So, what do we thinkabout female bodybuilders?

I'm off sick from work and was just channel-surfing, and the Jenny Jones show is on (who knew it was still on the air?). Anyway the topic is 'Female Bodybuilders Looking for Love' - basically a bunch of seriously muscley chicks complaining that they can't find men.

I don't have really strong feelings about it one way or the other. I mean, I certainly admire the dedication to training and hours they put in to achieve what is is they want to achieve with thier bodies. But I have to say, I do find it a bit physically off-putting. (I also don't care for particularly built up men, either.)

Any thoughts?

facial hair deep voices...no thanks...one thing bieng aesthetically chisled its another thing looking like arnold with breast implants....

i went to the arnold body building classic several times and let me tell ya its like silicone valley...lips boobs the whole nine yards. you get a real appretiation for the make up artists and people who airbrush the photos. up close the look like they are 10 years older than their actual age. of course it must be all those "natural supplements" they use...lol;)

They look hideous, especially when they are starved into "contest shape." Their breasts are horribly mutilated ... or is that mutated by the various androgenic cocktails that they inject. Some of them have nice looking legs and rounder than average asses *, but from the waist up, they are just nasty looking.

*for a non-sista

I think they are ugly, plain and simple. But everyone has their own taste in what is pleasing for the female body. Someone, somewhere must like all those muscles on women.

I think some of them look great. There are those that over do it just like anything else.

I am all about women being feminine; so when it crosses the line of femininity/masculinity thats where I wonder what is up.

The girl in the picture I am posting isn't the most beautiful girl in the world; but I think she has a great body.

ugh indeed....

But that's pretty much how I feel about male bodybuilders....

This is interesting.....we coddle overweight people and women, calling the Big Beautiful Women, then we shrug at and call women who want a great body ugly.

It takes a lot of dedication to have a bod like that.....sure some of or all of the competition body builders are enhanced, but I think it is very curious that men are turned off by a woman that builds her bod, and women will call her ugly, and the same people will probably defend and appreciate an overweight woman, or person, and refer to them as beautiful.

A very good point.

As I said initially, I have total respect for their commitment, but I just don't find it attractive sexually. I wouldn't call them ugly, just unappealing (to me personally).

Dangers of Obsession

I'm not turned on my very muscled women (or men) I prefer softer curves. But if that's somepne's sport, so be it - I don't knock it.

What does concern me though is any over-obsssion with the body: for huge muscles, or a skinny model's figure. In fact any obsession would worry me; except one that is, which drove a woman to constantly want sex with me - all rules need exceptions!

It is a good point.

I dated a girl for a short time that was a builder. Bernadette.....she liked to be called Bernie....I hated that, and I knew I was doomed when the most excited I saw her was when she recieved her kidney belt in the mail...:(

But I think a lot of the likes and dislikes of body types speaks loads to insecurities, and jealousies. Some men just dont want thier woman to have the great bod, and they will tell you they find it unattractive. But, I think it boils down to trust issues, and insecurities........I am not talking about the mega builders here......just the women who would be athletic, and interested in developing a healthy moderately toned body.

Women would surely be jealous of other women with great athletic bodies. It's only natural.

We live in a society in this country where a large percentage of people are overweight, and totally out of shape. We come up with all the justifications , and excuses for being that way....we are too busy...we are comfortable being that way...But the fact of the matter is that most of us lack the motivation and dedication it takes to be healthy and have a toned athletic body.

Toss in a few insecurities, and the positive reinforcements that I have seen here and see in the real world, sprinkle in a busy day, and a pizza......and we have what we have.

There is nothing wrong with being athletic, and having a toned sculpted body....there is everything wrong with not having either, from a health standpoint at the very least.

Having been a bodybuldier and lived that obsessive life...I saw many really beautiful women who were bodybuilders and a few who just plain wanted to be men and the hormones to do so...

And this is interesting too Suf.

I also think a lot of the obssesive competitive women who would desire to have the body of a man.....are just caught up in this role confusion that we seem to be going through these days.

Women want thier men more feminine, and women are taking on a larger masculine role in society.

I blame Gloria Stienham.

Who by the way has softened her views on feminism, and realized that she was probably wrong in the first place, or so I heard somewhere.

Even having a moderately toned body takes dedication that is almost obsessive. Who has two hours a day to work it out for the most part.

This is also why the steroid and growth hormone use is running rampant in the athletic circles.....that and the fact that we live in a "Fast Food" society and are all mostly impatient as hell, and learn everyday that the easy way out is acceptable.

reverse-anorexia it can become....thats why competing is insane but working out feeling your body pushed to limit..thats joy...

Exercising & dieting to tone the body can add to the beauty of it, sometimes.

But artificially modifying one's body with hormones & implants to please a judge- is extreme; extremely repulsive.

She does have anice body for the most part, but she should have gotten breast implants that were a little closer together.

I think I'm incline to toe the line with Peachy here. I'll admire their dedication to their craft and all but don't neccesarily find them sexually attractive to me. The one thing that I'm still a little confused about is whether body building is a competitive sport.

I'm not exactly savvy as to how the competitions are judged but isn't it based upon people judging and not a true black & white score or time? It's not like who has the larger bicep or quad is it?

Just because a 6'4" person has more body mass, but not neccesarily more defined than a 5'2" person... who defines a clear cut winner here??

Just questions I had about bodybuilding & not making any judgments here.

LC likes them - but then he is into bodybuilding anyway. I don't like them; I like the soft curves of the feminine shape, not the hard angular masculine shape. I like athletic women, but not if their muscles look like mens, and I haven't seen one bodybuilder babe that didn't have muscles that looked like men's. Morever, their bodies look hard, and the veins are starting to pop out and they are usually way too tan. I just don't care for their look.

Besides, they wouldn't like an out of shape guy like me.

Fake tatas, masculine looking face, and her body is too hard.

There is a reason the female body is soft and round; it is a fertility signal to men that she has enough body fat to be fertile. Young girls generally don't start puberty at any particular age - they start puberty when they hit 110 pounds. This is all genetically programmed into our male brains and women who look hard and muscular are generally not as attractive to us as women who are the same general shape but are a bit on the soft side.

Anyone here knows I don't coddle obese women, and they also know I don't call anyone ugly - I just say I am not attracted to obese nor hard muscled women.

Right on.....Hey is that true about women/girls hitting puberty only when they reach a specific weight that triggers the gene? Like the 110lbs you stated?

Interesting....

Does the same thing happen in men/boys and if so whats the trigger weight?

Moderation in all things.

I like the toned look, but there is a point where some women tend to look unattractive.

PC, that pics is gross. Everthing is fake. Shame, shame, shame on her.

From what I understand it is generally true. It has to do with body fat; the body says "okay, you have enough body fat now to be able to support a fetus, so let's start puberty". Around the world, young girls were hitting puberty earlier and earlier, especially in the US and other places where people eat well. All kinds of theories were flying around from hormones in meat to evolutionary change. It turned out that that girls were just hitting their target weight sooner because around the world they were eating better.

Women have about twice the body fat of men; about 27% vs. about 15% - this is for supporting a fetus.

Does the same thing happen in men/boys and if so whats the trigger weight?
I don't think so; we don't have the same hormones and genes; we don't need to start puberty at a certain weight because we can't get pregnant.
