It might have been a while back, but I'm just now starting to go there.

If any of you (especially the ones I've been talking to for years ) want to add me, PM me and I'll give you my username.

It's a little intimidating trying to talk to strangers on there, especially since a lot of them seem to want you to talk to someone else before you talk to them.

I understand that if someone is in a committed relationship, but otherwise it kind of makes me scratch my head.

I'm on Fetlife and the groups I'm in are all pretty welcoming and readily engage in discussion. But then I don't PM much there, I'm active on a few boards and lurk on others with the occasional commentary.

Jump on in, be polite and have fun. The worst that happens is someone gets their panties in a twist. It's not the worst thing to ever happen.

Fetlife is a great mix.. just be careful as with anywhere. Join some groups to make fast friends. Search by location and GO TO AN EVENT LOCALLY!! Most Fetlife'rs hate those that don't participate in R/T.

I could be wrong, but from context I'd say that R/T is supposed to stand for Real Time.

And I would disagree that "Most Fetlife'rs hate those that don't participate in R/T" - not only does that sound extreme but I've never ever run into that attitude in three or more years there.

My advice is to get to know people in the groups before you pm them. Guys that don't participate in discussions but are constantly emailing me after every comment I make on a thread annoy me greatly.

That's good advice
I have only messaged a couple of people on there.
Those that have OK'd it here, or people I know personally.

It was weird seeing some of the people on my facebook on there, but most are inactive.
