Ok I checked the library and I could not find a discussion on lube (bracing for the 6 posts on where to find the lube thread )

But even if there is one there are always new people on lit and new lubes on the market. I thought we could create an inventory of sorts on the subject. What types of lube do you like and why? What types of play are they using this for? What is the viscosity; is it compatable with silicone? I am not lookeng for the be all and end all of lubes, but we all like to try new things.

Now I know I can go to websites and read about the different types of lube....I have. But I want to here from those of us "in the trenches"...so to speak .

Excellent thread, although I'm sure that its been brought up before (but I have no links, don't worry). My lube of choice is Maximus - thick, but not too thick, not sticky... it tastes weird, but you can't have everything. I've also used O'My, which is hemp based but not quite as good.

For the NYC'ers among us, Toys in Babeland lets you try the lubes (just on your hands ) before you buy them. I'm sure that lots of other sex toy stores do the same, and it's really helpful. Speaking of which, I'm almost out.... time to go shopping!

M'lady and me are well aquinted w/ Toys in Babeland..... its our favorite store!!!! were trying to find a bottle of Liquid Silk as we have heard that its the Creme de la Creme of lubes and we can't wait to give the offical seal of approval!!! which means that its going through a VERY regerous testing process!!!!

I can't really add to the discussion, i've never bought any lube.

I, for one, like the silicone-based stuff. Good for condoms, no good for silicone toys. Other than that, it's fabulous. Just wash it off using soap, and be sure not to leave it on your shower floor -- it's waterproof and will stay slippery forever.

The only time I have ever really used lube was for anal play. I have seen threads around talking about how good astroglide is and I have tried that on occaision. I suppose for hand jobs and such it's ok (it also has a minty taste). But honestly, I prefer good ole' KY. They make a new variety that warms up with friction. I've tried that too, and there is a little difference but not enough to make you go WOW or anything.

Wet in the blue container is my personal favorite.

It doesn't get tacky or sticky or filmy, it has no taste or smell, nor does it stain.

I also don't do anal, and I wouldn't use Wet for it so I hear.

lucky me, i have an allergy to this compound! Found out the hard way, too... trust me, there are some places you really don't want hives.

Anyone able to recommend some good ones that definitely don't have this in them? I've been using Astroglide, but i find it gets kinda sticky and doesn't stay slippy as long as i'd like.
This is an important topic for me- as i'm very careful about condom use and most of them are coated in the stuff.

I just checked our lubes and the three we have Anal-ese, ID glide and Slippery Stuff, don't list nonoxynol-9 as an ingrediant. I'm not sure what your into but the Anal-ese we really like for anal play (obviously) since it has a desensitiser in it. We usually use that in conjunction with ID glide (this we use on the toys) and it really works great. I'll have to have kitten come in and post on this since he is the one who was on the receiving end.

I love the ID glide for sex...It s thick enough to stay put but not too thich that it gets sticky. Honestly the Slippery stuff we have not taken for a test drive yet.

Oh one more thing all of the lubes I listed are silicone-free.

Haven't had a huge amount of experience with lubes. We tried Astroglide but didn't like the stickiness. That was also a similar issue with an Aussie one Wet Stuff, though not as bad and they had a really nice strawberry flavoured one. Have known someone who swore by margarine for masturbation, so never accepted a sandwich when I visited as the margarine was often on the living room coffee table where he had last used it watching porn. LOL. We keep coming back to KY. I especially love their small purse pack tubes I bought in Australia, for convenience when out and about. This could be fun exploring and trialing these products.
