For some reason there seem to be a lot of posts about BBWs. I remember reading one post where the author said that all BBWs should loose weight he said dont tell me about glandular stuff don't you really want to loose weight.

Well to me there appears to be a preoccupation with being skinny as much as I am lead to believe being 30% under weight is much more dangerous to your health than being 30% over weight.

To show my age I was and still an a Huge fan of Karen Carpenter she lost her life due to complecations from anerexia. It was very sad. Yet Momma Cass lost her life from Choking ironoc I guess.

Cosmo in Australia ran a survay some time ago that show that most Australian Men would pick an Idea body (they were shown photos of various body shapes where they could only see the torso) that was in fact about 20% over the ideal body weight.

Why do people want to be so skinny that it make them look sickly note that men and women seem to both do this it is just that women seem more prone to do so.

So what is better +30% body weight or -30% me the woman that is +30% is much better.

Media pressure.

The dreaded zombie box paints an obscured picture of what is the idea female body shape.

I watched a nice poll where men picked their idea female body shape and then women picked what they assumed was the male's ideal female body shape. The women guessed a whole size category down from what most of the men had actually selected.

Aaaaaawwwwwww!

Mike!

Goddess bless you darlin'...I am easily more than 30% overweight, but I still have a beautiful face (esp eyes), nice skin, nice lips :D and if you will forgive me for bragging, sir, I have had NO complaints in the bedroom dept. It makes me feel really unlovable and unsexy when I am rejected based on my weight. I was skinny as a teenager--underweight, actually. By the way--I love Karen Carpenter also! I will never forget hearing about her death when I was still in school. I did not even know what anorexia nervosa was! As rejected as I am cuz of fat, I would still rather be that than be model thin! I should also mention that when I was skinny, I fainted alot more. Stress, pain..etc was not something I could endure when I was thin. I have not fainted from pain or stress since I gained weight!

Wish you lived closer, I would love to meet you, Mike!

What about everything in between? Your proposed range of +30% to -30% is just too great. I appreciate that women who are overweight should want to feel accepted by society as attractive, sexual beings, but I don't see why thin should be bashed. A preoccupation with being thin may not be such a bad thing (unless it becomes an obsessive preoccupation). I've said it once before and I will say it again: for all of those BBW women on this board who proclaim how proud they are of their weight, why do they continue to use images of thin women for av's?

As a BBW, I can tell you that I don't lack for male attention. However, I do think that many men are not secure enough to "date" an overweight woman and bring her around their friends, even if they personally find her attractive.

I think people are beautiful in all different shapes, sizes and colors. There are some men and women who are naturally thin, and it looks good on them. Personally, I'd like to lose weight, but I'd be perfectly content to be a size 12. I don't have any desire, nor is it natural for my body to be, a size 6.

So it's Big Bi Woman and not Big Black Woman? I thought every woman posting to this forum was Bi.

Really.

That, I believe, is a very astute assesment. It seems men suffer from the stereotype of an attractive woman too. I look to the face first, beauty is more important than attractivness, regardless of whether you admit the attraction to your friends.

I hate it when u guys talk dress sizes In australia Julie Roberts would wear a size 12 well ok maybe a 10.

Can some one who know these thing post a convertion chart for us/uk/aus dress sizes.

I agree!

Riff, nothing wrong with it. Just that the appreciation of that is less wide spread than the media seems to suggest.

being a skinny f*ck myself, I instantly align with the skinny put-upon gals. damn them size-ists.

I wonder if perhaps people operate under the presumption:

"Maybe if I get a skinny person now he/she will become average in old age, and if I get an overweight person now he/she will be very overweight with age?"

Any thoughts on that?

I think that people are too concerned with looking like the ideal person, according to what the media describes as ideal. People come in all shapes and sizes, and as long as they are healthy and they like the person they see in the mirror, then they are doing better than most people.

I see people trying to fit an image that they see in a magazine or on TV everyday at the gym. They need to realize that a woman 5'4" and medium build is not going to look like a woman 6'0" with a slim build. More important than that, they need to realize that beauty begins on the inside. If you like what you see in the mirror, and like the person that you are, then you are so far ahead of these so-called beautiful women.
