Singledad's Bootcamp

Hugs! I hope it goes done well.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, my hands, arms, legs and feet hurt from mowing then edging the lawn!

I did do a good stretch after I walked 2 miles on the track tonight, but I am definitely going to need to take some ibuprofen.

Thank you ladies :kiss::kiss:

I'm thinking a long soak in the tub with some epsom salts tonight should go a long way towards my recovery.

OK, I'm getting up at 6:30 to go for a long bike ride. If I don't go, I would like to be relentlessly mocked by all on this thread. Thank you for your cooperation. :)

Sorry we don't mock, we try to give positive moral support. If you miss your ride, do some jumping jacks sit ups and pull ups....

I woke up late but will still get 30 mins in

Just remember that all the exercise you're doing is good for the baby!

I still think you should post some pics of your belly! I think baby bellys are so cute!

Agreed....again! Show us the bump! :D

 lol a 'bump' pic, eh? I would think about it, but I don't know how to post pics of myself to Lit. I really wasn't wanting to start a pic thread. But if you can figure it out, I would consider it.

I helped hubs do some raking last night. Good exercise but my hands always feel bruised afterwards. Just the bit like where your thumb hits the side of your hand.

I must be doing something wrong.

I usually am!

Start a photo library at Photobucket (I recommend password protecting you personal library) Once it's uploaded, click on "go to library" and put your mouse over the pic you want to share. A little gear icon will pop up at the top right of the thumbnail photo. click the gear and select "Get Links". A new window will pop up with for web addresses in it. click the second bar that says "Direct Link" - this will copy the link to share the pic. You can post the image on here directly by pasting the link between [ IMG ] and [ /IMG ] (without the spaces) or you can just post a link people can click on by using URL instead of IMG.

Just a matter of where you're adding pressure hon. Try using padded gloves or leather workman's gloves!

I WAS wearing gloves! Apparently I don't know my own strength. LOL.

I have found that when working with tools such as axes, rakes, shovels, its best to wear tight fitting "mechanic" gloves rather than leather gloves. I have yet to get a blister when doing this.

Have never tried mechanic gloves, but sounds like you know what you're talkin about there!

I believe I stated I would post my weekly diet on here, well I guess I lied, LOL.

I will however post my daily meals with you today. If you wan't any of the recipes or how I make things, just ask.

Today:
Breakfast: Megamen shake with additional protein, 1/2 banana, 1 cup strawberries, 0% milk ( I pretty much have this daily. the megamen shake is essentially a powdered daily vitamin. They make it for women to, its at GNC. I can't stand taking pills nor eating breakfast, so this is a good option for me.

10am snack: Granny Smith Apple with natural peanut butter

Lunch: my home made chicken salad on top of romaine

2pm snack: raw sunflower seeds, cashews, and almonds

Dinner: Asian Fish, brown rice, roasted asparagus

You are brave to post your meals! :D

I always start my day with a protein shake too. Today I did a scoop of Chocolate protein powder, a medium banana, 1 c of almond milk and 2 T of PB2. It ended up around 270 calories. I enjoy a tablespoon of almond butter in a shake too but since it's 100 calories, I don't do it often. I'm limited to 1000 to 1200 calories a day.

I did NOT feel like exercising today. Yesterday I totally skipped it. So, I pushed myself to strap on the sneakers when I got home. I wanted to get 2 miles but ended up getting 2.5 miles. Yay!! I did some sit ups and arm work with my dumbells. (I miss working with a trainer!!).

I feel so much better after the workout. Why do I forget this feeling pre-work out? (Maybe that's a rhetorical question.)

Well, news on the home front say's I only have two pieces of fish. I will be making Shrimp Stir Fry with vegi's and brown rice instead.

I have no issue posting what I eat, I like it, if nobody else does well ok, that's their choice LOL.

That is awesome you pushed yourself to get out and walk then look what happened you went further and did some other things.

Our mind is like our muscles, when not used they tend to get lazy, but when used they have a quick memory of where they once were.

Measurements day for biometrics! Time for the actual fit people to tell me just how out of shape I am. :(

I will persevere though! Just a side note in regards to the meals, I've been doing my protein shakes with skim milk & fruit as my "between meal snacks" and this is bumping my protein intake while still getting my fats into play...my trainer recommended this as I'm trying to burn fat, but pack on lean muscle at the same time.

The good news is that you will have your baseline to compare against later. Err...Have fun!

Protein shakes are great. For a lot people, finding the right one for their taste is the biggest challenge. I've not tried them with kale or spinach. Have you?

Can't stand the flavor of either...yuck! I use the Cytosport line carried by Costco. makes 75 shakes for under $50...hard to beat the cost and they're 27g of protein with just 8oz. of water, so you don't have to drink something enormous. I make them with skim milk, which adds another 9g for only 90 calories. They come in vanilla and chocolate. I like to add bananas to both flavors and sometimes raspberries :)

Is that just protein or is it a multi vitamin as well?

Very important to take a multi, best in powder form though

Thanks. I did make it out on my ride. It wasn't exactly at 6:30, but better late than never.

Shakes are just protein.

I start the day with a multi, a b-complex for pep, and MegaRed krill oil w/ omega 3

trainer took my biometrics...23% body fat?!?!??!?! OMGWTF

I love this thread...

You are all so encouraging and motivating for me...

I am walking every single day...Longer each day if possible...That is all for right now that I engage in for my exercise...My diet is clean and I am drinking so much more water now...That is my hardest thing...Giving up Diet Cokes has been difficult...But my only vice really...But I am succeeding...I love my morning Green drinks too...and love my flax...

Singledad...Great meals for the day...Bravo...so healthy...I envy that you can do the P90X...such great accomplishment...I know it is so hard to do, even when in good shape, which I am sure you are...

I am proud of you all...keep on keeping on...:heart::heart:

Dude, Don't freak out that bad, LOL. You have your base now you can go to work and see your accomplishments. I'm at 34% body fat, so be happy you haven't let yourself go as much as I have.

BC,
I'm so happy you're continuing walking. and you have up Diet Cokes!!! Way to go girl! Giving up something we have on a daily basis can be so hard! I'm so proud of you, that alone will help you drop weight and replacing it with water will be so helpful for your joints, brain and over all body! Way to Go!

As for me and the P90X, yes I am on day three, yes it is hard, NO I am not in good shape. I have to take breaks to catch my breath. I can't do all of the exercises and I have to "cheat" to accomplish some. After 10 push ups, I have to put my knees on the ground to continue. That's okay, I'm not embarrassed, I'm still working out and that's what counts.

Keep up the great work BC and everyone else. We can all do this, we can reach our goals, we will feel better about ourselves and we will conquer this world!

Okay. I'm in. Forever, I did daily walking (fast-paced, lots of inclines, declines...) on the trails in my local woods. Since last Aug., when my dog passed, I have done hardly any walking.
Until last week. Damn, it feels really good, not just the exercise, also the mental boost of being out in nature. So, I'm back to it... dog-less for the time being.
I've been working out with hand and ankle weights and doing floor exercises to fend off whatever of the inevitable flab of normal aging for a couple of years.
I'm not alway consistant, however.
Maybe I do need to get a dog—I know I'll go out walking for him, daily, more than I'll go for myself...
I am eating way more healthily, too.
And, I used to swim, way back when, after I had my kiddo—lost 40 lbs doing that !

Thanks for joining the team!

Gotta Boast

I did my morning walk with Z (the dog) this morning. We only got in a mile 'cause we were short on time, but at least we got out there. I went in for weigh in this morning and got my hand smacked out slacking on vitamins, but I only gained 5 lbs! I was pretty stoked about that. Not too shabby for 18 weeks :D

That's awesome NRS! But seriously those prenatals are VERY important. They will give you energy as well. If you like your nails they will make them very strong and they will grow fast as well.

Keep taking care of you and your precious cargo!
