SINGIN' IN THE RAIN----premiered 50 yrs ago today

My mother had fallen asleep with the tv on and I quietly snuck down and Singin' In The Rain was on. I was probably 10 or so.
It was the most magical experience for me and it has been a favorite ever since.

What a movie! It was on the other evening and the dance scenes were INCREDIBLE! :)

I love most old movies, but it's always been one of my favorites. My mother and I used to spend our Sunday afternoons curled up with old movies and cups of tea... I think I was 13 or so when I first saw it. Magical, indeed!

It is one of my all time favorite movies!

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feeling
I'm happy again

I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
'Cause the sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love

Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face

I'll walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
'Cause I'm singing
Just singing in the rain

One of my favorite scenes:

"Ahnd I cahn't stand him," Lina Lamont's diction coach (looking very put upon).

"Eeyand I keeyant stan' 'im!" Lina Lamont (failing terribly).

Donald O'Connor had some of the best lines.

(and Jean Hagen was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar)

Not to mention his facial expressions!
Make 'em Laugh!

And Gene Kelly was 40 while Debbie Reynolds was only 19.

to quote my friend "Soph"

19 goes into 40 a helluva lot more than 40 goes into 19.

Hmmm, does it work if the 19 is female? I guess it does on this board anyway! LOL!

re: Debbie Reynolds

"Singin' in the Rain and childbirth were the two hardest things I've ever had to do in my life." Debbie Reynolds.
