Sing, Sing a Song... Chain story

Erin, thanks for participating! :) Yes, others can definitely jump on board the chain once it's begun; since it's more of a theme chain than a continuing story, it's open-ended.

I'm excited about it!

Auughhh! This was on the third page!

Okay, so I'm going to go ahead and submit the chain with the schedule we have on the first page. If anyone else wants to participate, please grab one of the open dates and let me know.

Boxlicker, you all set for the 15th? :)

I will be all set. It is about 2/3 done now, and I should finish it in a week easily. I was thinking of about 3,000 words, but the characters have been having so much fun, it looks like it will be more than twice that long. Mostly graphic and detailed smut.

Graphic and detailed smut? Wooohooo!

The chain is submitted, with our schedule from the first post in the thread, so it should be all set for you to submit your story on the 15th, Box :)

The dates in the schedule are the dates of submission, not of posting; we can't control when they'll be posted. That's up to Laurel and Manu.

Woohoo, Erin! Can't wait to read it :)

I have finished the first draft of Ennery the Eighth, but I am having some misgivings. It's a very short song, about eight lines, which are repeated, as well as some scat type words. I am actually using more than four lines, but I'm using most of them as narrative or part of dialogue rather than citing the lines.

I don't know if that would run afoul of the copyright laws or not, or if there even is a copyright on it any more. The song was performed in English music halls as far back as 1910 and may even be in the public domain. It was also recorded in 1965 by Herman's Hermits, and was a big hit.

Box, I googled and didn't find any copyright info on the song. I'd say, though, that if you've transformed the words into narrative an dialogue, you're safe. (IANAL, however.)

This has been discussed many times so maybe an email to Laurel would help if you are worried. I'd be the type to just post the lines and see what happens.

Erin

That's what I am going to do, with a comment in the "Notes" section. This should be ready to post tomorrow, if that's not too early. ;)

It's over 9,000 words, with about 75% of that being detailed, graphic descriptions of sex, five sex acts in all, between Ennery the Eighth and the widow next door.

I could be wrong, but I think we have to stick to the schedule set in the first post. If that's true, your story shouldn't be submitted before March 15, since that's when it's scheduled for.

As I said, I could be wrong, and if someone wants to tell me I am, I'd appreciate it. :)

I thought it would be best to have a story submitted once a week, and mine won't be ready till March 22, so there would be a gap if you submitted yours tomorrow, Box. I confess to being a little anal about sticking to schedules, though.

No problemo. I will submit it on the 15th.

Thanks, Box, you rock! :)

Sorry if I was a pain in the ass, but... well... I'm kinda good at that.

Erg... I was wrong.

Got this from the powers that be today in response to my submitting the schedule to them:

"Sounds good! Please have everyone submit their pieces at least 3 days in advance, and tell them to put in the NOTES section: "Please post this story on [DATE]". "

From the two other chains in which I've been involved, I thought the dates in the schedule were submission dates, but apparently not.

So Box, go ahead and submit when you're ready, and I apologize for the confusion; I'm as good at being confused as I am at being a pain in the ass.

I'll have my story ready to submit by the middle of next week.

Okay, I just submitted Ennery, and requested that it be posted on March 15. I hope it isn't too smutty.

Since I've been having a bit of trouble getting one of my first time stories submitted, I will get mine finished up by the middle of next week and edited and then submitted early with my post date.

JUst a reminder: The posting dates are EDT. March 15 will probably mean 9PM on March 14.

However, you should coordinate with Karen so you don't have two chapters with the same number.

I'm in EDT, so it'll be the 15th for me :D

When you submit your stories, now that I've figured out I didn't know what I was talking about before, please wait until three or four days before the date you're scheduled in the first post of the thread, and in the Notes section, put "Please post on (your scheduled date)" As for chapter numbers, go in the order of the first thread, so Box's is chapter 1, mine will be chapter 2, and so on.

bb_peaks, and anyone else who's in Survivor, remember to also put "Survivor contest 2009" or however you've been phrasing it in your Notes section if you've been doing that with the rest of your stories.

If any new people want to join, please let me know so I can add you to the schedule; like Box said, I need you to coordinate with me so we aren't repeating chapter numbers or bumping someone who's already committed to the chain. Anyone's welcome to join, but please don't just jump in without warning. (Probably everyone knows that, but I'm in teacher mode getting ready for work, so I'm stating the obvious :) )

I put "Survivor contest" in the Notes section on all the stories I'm counting toward Survivor, but I don't know if it's necessary. It just pleases me to do so :) I think sometimes the stories for Survivor post a bit more quickly, but I could be wrong on that.

Do you guys need to put Survivor contest in the Notes section? I just thought that it was for any story posted after December 15th to make sure it was posted in time. In any case my story came back from the editor so if anyone wants to read and critique it before I post it that would be great.

Oh and one of my stories is up next in the Story Discussion Circle so if you want to go over and practice your critiquing.

Can't wait to read the first chapter, although I don't know if I can handle so much sex :)

Erin

You can include the Survivor info if you want to, but it's really only necessary late in the year, so the story or poem gets posted this year.

I have been inactive in the discussion Circle for a while, but maybe I will go over and tear your story apart.
