Sigh...the long wait

I had been waiting a little longer than the normal 72 hours for my first story to submit. I went in to check on the status and my husband clicked on the pending link. Sigh. Looks like I'm waiting at least another three days if not more for it to post now since I read if you do that you go to the back of the que. Ugh.

Since the Summer Lovin' contest starts today, it may take another day or two for non-contest stories to post. I'm not sure that clicking "pending" sends you back -- I think if it's if you click "pending" and then resubmit or save changes or whatever the next button is. But please, someone say if I'm wrong.

Nah. I think just opening up the submission makes it go back to the end of the queue, but then I'm not sure about that as I've never tried it. :)

ps. OP, 4-7 days.

Ah. So it's looking like in all likelihood my story won't post until next weekend at the earliest and maybe not until next week. ACK! I'm going nuts freaking out about it and having to wait is so damn HARD! My husband offered to take the couch for screwing up, but that would be punishing me so it didn't happen. =) 40 lashes with a wet noodle for not stopping when I yelled "NO DON'T PRESS THAT!"

I know the feeling. But in my experience, the best way to get your mind off a pending story is by starting to write another story. It puts you back in writing mode rather than just waiting.

You're correct, clicking pending opens the story and even if you don;t change anything , you go to the back of the line which as of today will be flooded with contest stories getting first dibs.

5 hours away and there isn't a link for the contest yet.

It's actually Tuesday already in Greenwich.

The clock is ticking. Anxious souls peer at the face of time, willing the hands to move.

Someone coughs; a few jump.

Sigh...the long wait continues.

Starting a new story is not a bad idea. I had wanted to make sure people liked the first one before I started another, but oh well. If I keep myself busy I will stop obsessing about when the first one will post. I DID just get some fresh inspiration so it's good timing to start writing again. =)

This really helped me when I was on pins and needles waiting for my story to post--and then waited again, because I didn't read closely enough and submitted a .docx instead of a .doc! URGH!

I believe you can hit the "pending" link without delaying your submission. If you actually then hit the "submit" button, it will reset the submission date and bump the submission to the end of the queue. This is to prevent me from approving the story while you are making changes to it.

If anyone has clicked on the "pending" link without hitting SUBMIT and had the story delayed, please PM me with the story title and I'll have our tech guys take a look. :rose:

Thank you for the information.

Thank you Laurel. I wish I had known that as I hit submit again figuring it had been taken out of the queue all together. I won't make that mistake again. Lol. I'm willing to be patient since I know you have a ton of contest entries to deal with.
